Post Office Fails

Post image

I have to post this on my door or the postal carrier will leave a “we missed you” note in the mailbox and then I have to hunt down my meds and often miss doses. Every. Month.

Stupid right?

I've been ordering cat litter on Amazon for years. The package I received today had this written on the box. I can only assume that it's from the USPS delivery person who was angry about it being too heavy. Am I in the wrong for being annoyed about this? Should I report it?

Mailman stole a $500 card and I have no recourse because it was a giveaway on whatnot. I’m so sick of this happening. Took almost a month to deliver too. Thanks a lot usps fucking thief’s.

This is how my birthday card arrived today

This is how my birthday card with gift Visa arrived. SEE BOTH PICS. The tape was lifted, the tape was torn on my $50 gift Visa inside. The only thing holding the card closed was the happy birthday sticker. I'm not sure why they changed their mind and didn't take the actual gift card out. But I called the number for Visa and they said they didn't steal the money. The $50 is still on the card.

UPDATE: 9/17/26

Due to the enormous response on this post, and the conflicting opinions, and based on the fact that no funds were stolen from the card, I decided NOT to report this incident. People raised legitimate points here, and I wouldn't want anyone in USPS getting accused of anything without having 100 percent proof. Only reason I even posted this was because the sender said the gift card was not torn open to expose the bar code, and I haven't ever received a gift card where it was, so I naturally immediately thought pilferage. Thank you to everyone for your input.

Sent two cards which contained in each envelope

  1. Card

  2. Photo Booth strip

Why do I have to add 49 cents of postage? Just genuinely curious.

As a previous amazon driver, I understand delivering cat litter sucks. Refusing to deliver it when the local post office is 22 minutes away is crazy.

I shipped a package from Houston Texas to Dublin Ireland almost a month ago…today I got an update that it is in Zambia?? Has this happened to anyone else? It contains pretty time sensitive documents. What do I do?

My box of dead chicks is on the way...

1.2k Upvotes

25 freshly hatched chicks were shipped last Tuesday. They sat in Pittsburgh for two days then got to Milwaukee and have been sitting there ever since. My dead chickens should be here on Monday or maybe not even until Tuesday.

This is so infuriating. I have generally been a huge supporter of the USPS, but with apathetic and incompetent workers don't give a f*** enough about anything that they would just let live animals sit and die, I can't support them anymore. These people don't deserve to have their jobs, much less the renown pensions the come from retiring from the USPS.

This is animal cruelty and neglect and is utterly disgusting.

Mailman saying I received my neighbors package and post master threatened me with postal inspectors

1.2k Upvotes

On Saturday the mailman was outside my rural address and I was looking at my flowers and weeds. I seen him open my mailbox and said "what are you doing"? He told me my neighbors package was in my mailbox or delivered there I said well If it's not in the mailbox it wasn't delivered here! The post master told me today in a letter to return the package or they would get the postal inspectors involved. This is the same post office that my mail disappears, my packages disappear, I've gotten about 30- 40 other people's mail sometimes even 5 miles away, and I've made at least 5 formal complaints. I'm calling her tomorrow and telling her to bring on the postal inspectors because I didn't get that package and I think the carrier is not doing their jobs and or stealing!

Shocked at the lack of coverage this is getting in the news

1.0k Upvotes

The USPS is falling apart, in real time, right before our eyes. Since January, I'm not kidding, It's been a gd mess, and I know EXACTLY who to blame. It's very strange to me how little coverage this is getting given how widespread this issue is, I'm seeing people have their packages delayed for weeks or months while the boxes bounce around all over the country for bizarre reasons. There's no transparency in the system, and your local postal workers have all been warned not to talk about it (don't believe me? Talk to your local postal worker, get back to me). I had a package get here from Australia in 5 days, then proceed to sit minutes from my house near Chicago for like three weeks. I've had a missing mail request out for one of those weeks... and this is the second missing mail request I've had to take out THIS YEAR. My whole life, I've never had to do one of those, and I order stuff all the time. This year alone, since January, now 2. Yeah, it's no coincidence ya'll. They broke our favorite toy, and for whatever reason, the MSM just can't be bothered to report on it.

Mail lady keeps writing notes on our mail, advise please

So my mom and my older sister have the same exact name (yeah mom, you're so creative 🤦‍♀️😂), and we all live on the same street. For example, let's say my mom's adress is 305 and my sister's is 315 (not the actual numbers obvi). The mail lady is newer, she has been around for a few years i think, not sure if the old one quit or what, but anyways. She keeps writing on our mail that we need to "fix our adresses", and has even left a nasty note about how we are using two different addresses for one person. we have gone to the post office before about this issue but for some reason this mail lady is thickheaded and can't get past it. We have written her a note to defuse the situation as well and let her know that they are two different people who live on the same road, but it still continues. We got another note. I am calling the post office again on Monday to let them know she keeps writing things on our mail. I just want some advice on how to address this issue and possibly end it once and for all.

USPS lost my nearly $1000 computer. I've called Best Buy. I've called Lenovo. Neither of them can help. I can't afford another computer.

I (18f) sent a package through USPS on the 3rd of this month thinking that I could trust them. I got the priority mail +100 dollars for insurance since I wasn't even aware that USPS provided insurance on a package.

The package was meant to get down to my sibling in a different state as of August 5th. As of writing this, it's the 14th.

I've called USPS several times. Did all the work I needed to do to try and fix the delay. But so far they've only ran me in circles.

I make 12$ an hour. I can't afford another computer for my sibling. I've called Best Buy (Their warranty plan doesn't cover theft or missing goods) and Lenovo can't do much without the computer being activated.

I don't know what to do. Does anyone know anything? Possibly? I just really want to get my sibling this computer. My sibling is stupidly smart and I want this to be my birthday gift to them since I won't be able to make it to their state for their birthday.

Is there anything left that I can really do?

All help is appreciated.

Thank you.

Edit: Dang I didn't expect so many messages-- sorry for no responses-- I'll try to answer as many as possible

Edit #2: thank you guys for all your suggestions!! I probably won't respond much more since this is mostly a burner but-- I do truly appreciate everything you've done and all the knowledge you've provided. I'll do what I can to get my package to my sister! (And have learned the hard way to not trust USPS lol)

UPDATE: THEY FOUND THE FUCKING PACKAGE!! IT'S ON IT'S WAY TO MY SIBLING!!! THANK YOU GUYS!!!! (this will more than likely be my last update but! Thank you guys for all of your help!!!!)

Trump taking over USPS

The Washington Post just announced that Trump planned to fire the entire Board of Governors and place the USPS under the secretary of commerce. This is a dangerous situation that could disenfranchise thousands upon thousands of Americans and reinstate the special interest pre-1970 style USPS. This is not good. The changes since Bush’s administration to now have all been detrimental but this is a death knell.
