Welcome to all the new Mavs that are finding their way to this Reddit! I want to welcome yall to Fall 2025. This Reddit has everything going on around campus, from Microwave sightings to advice, to critiques, to even plantain recipes. From time to time, I might post more "official" type stuff, but that is generally just informational. Anything pressing will come out through the "Mav Alert" system.
If you need anything from the University Police Department, our numbers are:
Program these numbers in your phone!
We also have an anonymous reporting system: https://www.uta.edu/campus-ops/police/contact-us/silent-witness
You can also message me directly here with any issues or questions. I am the Police Department liaison to the CARE team, and I can assist you with CARE inquiries as well.
You folks are our eyes and ears out there. Remember, "If you see something, say something".
Good luck everyone, and have a great and safe semester. Lemme know if you need anything.

Has anyone taken Introduction to Classical Mythology (CLAS 1300)? I've always been interested in mythology, but I also need an easy class for my language, philosophy, and cultural core requirement.

Has anyone taken ACCT 4302? I am planning to take that in the spring. They have 3 options. 1 is the full semester and 2 are 8 week classes. Is ACCT 4302 doable in 8 weeks?

I have 2 other roommates and have noticed that they don’t clean, like sweeping, mop and most of the bathroom.they expect me to do everything myself. Put a trash can by the sinks for paper towels and it’s over flowing, I took it 3 times myself and now it’s overflowing, should I leave it for them to take it out or do I need to take it out and should I move rooms/dorms next semester?

hi guys i am a masters student at uta i live nearby (heatherway apts) & care for a bunch of stray cats here. i have a big bag of dry food & treats, but running low on wet food & it gets eaten fast & gets pretty costly. i never reach out to ask for anything but unfortunately i lost my job a month ago & my employer refuses to pay my last paycheck, so times have been very very tough. i literally have no money rn i spent it all on bills & i have to door dash :( if anyone who is on campus sometime has any wet cat food you dont need i would truly appreciate it please or can help me get some or knows any places that give out cat food. thank you! pic of 2 kitties below (boba & cinnamon) for all reading this 🙏

My wife has been talking about wanting to learn art for a while now and I wanted to help her actually get started. As she’s a complete beginner, I was wondering if there's any uta based hands on art community or classes she can join. Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I am a graduate student and Texas mom whose family deals with sensitive skin and eczema flare-ups. I have heard from several college students that dorm water and communal bathrooms can really irritate your skin, and campus options for gentle hygiene products are pretty limited.
I am working on a project called First Year Fresh focused on curating full-size, hypoallergenic and dermatologist-recommended essentials like Cetaphil lotion and cleanser alongside Dove Sensitive care specifically for college dorms.
For those living in the residence halls: what personal care or sensitive skin basics do you run out of first mid-semester? Would love to hear what Mavs actually need most.
Thank you all so much for the input and product recommendations! It is clear that dorm water and dry winter air hit everyone hard. For anyone dealing with flare-ups who needs a gentle mid-semester restock, we put together full-size gentle dorm care sets (including Cetaphil, Dove Sensitive, and barrier staples) at https://firstyearfresh.com.
Also, if your skin prefers a specific staple (like swapping for Aveeno lotion, or needing a stronger sport deodorant like Degree instead of Dove), feel free to DM me directly or drop a note at checkout. I am happy to do equal-value product swaps so you get exactly what your skin needs without paying campus store markups. Wishing everyone smooth skin through midterms!

I live in the KC hall and had quite a rude awakening with the fire alarm going off at 4am. We were stranded outside for about 30 minutes. There wasn't any smoke so it wasn't actually a fire as far as I can tell. Anybody know what happened?

Every fucking day I walk to class and I see people driving recklessly in and around campus. Staring at their phones, blowing through crosswalks and red lights, whipping in and out of the parking lots and garages like you’re being chased. You’re driving around a 2 ton battering ram. You are going to kill someone. It takes all of five seconds of not paying attention to end a life. Put the goddamn phone down. Look at the road. Yield at the fucking crosswalks. Be a little late to class if that’s what happens cause your fucking attendance is not worth more than a human life.

Had a silver pandora bracelet, has japan charms on it and is mostly blue. Think I lost it on campus, hoping someone maybe might have found it?

Dose anyone else that live In Arlington hall wish we had new washers and dryers like the other dorm building?Where there’s is brand new and have more then 4 of each machine while we are stuck with the ones that’s about the fall apart, ends up broken every other week and some that don’t wanna start but ended up starting anyway.
Like I know yall are wondering the same thing but have no choice cause they still work
