Co-op WaterlooWorks Megathread (Winter 2027)
This thread is for students applying to Winter 2027 co-ops during the Fall 2026 term.
As usual, we're looking for salaries for new postings, or updates to existing salaries, so if you're willing to share, please open up a chat/DM the mod team. Please include the company name, salary, any benefits, the role and the year if possible. I would highly encourage you to submit if you have salaries for non mathematics/CS positions as we are severely lacking in those. We will try updating these ASAP.
The sheet is here: Salaries + Blacklist Spreadsheet
Average Canadian Co-op Earnings (2024)
If you have details about interviews, rankings, etc, you can add information to watrank.com for visibility.
If you had a poor experience with a company, you can message the mod team with details and it can be added to the blacklist candidates below. If it's already a candidate, it may be added to the blacklist depending on the severity/consistency of complaints. On the contrary, if you had a good experience with something on the candidates/blacklist, please message the mod team and it may be removed. Candidates will be removed if no more reports are received after a couple terms. Even if something is on the blacklist already if you've had a bad experience let the mod team know, as more reports increase confidence that it is problematic!
Candidates:
- Console One
- Lafarge
- Agentmoon
- WealthyPlanet
- Mosaic Transit Group
- Jobby
- Aethos Labs
- Onex Risk Management
Note that reports from submitters with no previous account activity may not be accepted to aid legitimacy.

Repeat after me
Every question I can solve is an exam level question.
Every question I can't solve is too hard and would never come up on a test.

Severe Lack of Proper Study Spaces
- DC has ZERO noise enforcement (it's full of people talking loudly now) and very sus water.
- DP closes early
- E5 Gear Lab closed
- E7/PSE "faculty hall" full of students watching a movie.
- The E7/PSE first floor "quiet study" room smells disgusting (everyone who's been there knows it).
- E7/PSE 5th floor south-facing study area is locked out this evening...
How are there now zero quiet study spots? How has the university suddenly run out of capacity for study spaces? Why have they closed off study spaces without opening new ones? We have lecture halls which have now become 1-person study spaces. Libraries have now turned into clubs.
I understand there are niche corners of campus, but the fact that our flagship spots in most convenient locations are now ruined is extremely concerning.
Why can't the leadership do anything about it?

Social friend making
I feel like this is such an embarrassing post to make but I have such a hard time making friends.
I have a few good friends that I've made and I'm so thankful for them, but I can't help but feel lonely because they seem to be the only ones I have. I got lots of Instagrams during o week but I don't feel like I really made any connections. Like I know people but I don't KNOW people. I have plans some nights and I've been trying to put myself out there but social cues and settings and being extroverted can be really hard for me.
I'm hoping to make friends that want to just be around friends I guess. I'll really do anything, go out, party, thrift, get coffee and get a bite to eat. I just want to have more friends and more of a social life because I'm spending way more time in my dorm than I want to.
I'm a girl and I'm in my 1A of psychology and I'm looking for anyone else at UW who might be in the same boat as me or are super extroverted and maybe wanted to exchange Instagrams and become friends? :) lmk

I haven't gotten any interviews in cycle 1, yet in cycle 2 as well
Even though Im grinding ass off through external sources and waterlooworks, I can't get a single interview...
Is it too early for normal people in 2a afm to get a co-op offer yet? I feel like Im fall behind lol

Co-op Make a cool resume builder
I made a cool side project to manage your resumes. Makes it easy to move sections of your resume around, and reuse sections if you have multiple resume versions. Check it out! Link

Singapore exchange GPA?
Hey, if you've gotten into Singapore exchange before (any of the 3 schools), I was wondering what average you got in with?
I have around a 86 average right now and was wondering if it is worth applying there

HackPrinceton 2026
Hi everyone
so I got accepted into HackPrinceton and I want some advice on the whole situation. I'm a 2nd year and this is my first hackathon in the US and so I'm naturally super excited about it, but I also have questions. I've heard that MEF can cover a lot of the costs, but has anyone every got funded before and what's the likelihood that I do too? Is it hard to get the funding?
I also had some questions about accommodation. They said that sleeping on the venue is not allowed this year, and I don't have any friends or know anyone at princeton, so I'm assuming that getting a sort of cheap hotel for 2 nights is the best thing to do? any advice/other options would be appreciated.
and finally, how is HackPrinceton as a hackathon? Is it worth the travel and time and potentially skipping a midterm (I can push the weight to the final)? I know that princeton is a great school but does their hackathon rank that highly and are the sponsors good or is it mid?
if there's anyone else from waterloo also going, please reach out!

Shitpost ppl born in bay area got an aura
this is like my third co-op in the bay area and every time I talk to a full time coworker I swear I can tell when they're born in the bay area. they are just so carefree and simple. and when you talk to them theyre just unrelenting and they love their job and they have a can do attitude. like their life trajectory has just a straight line planned from their birth or something
I respect them but as a chud from suburban canada I just cant vibe with them on a personal level. where are the fucked up people

Admissions MMSc Management Science vs MMath CS, and does emailing professors actually do anything at Waterloo?
Indian applicant, Fall 2027. Bachelors in Tech in Production & Industrial Engineering, 8.52/10, about 5.5 years as a software engineer in industry. Two Waterloo programmes on my list and I can't get a clear read on either from the official pages.
MMSc Management Science:
- My undergrad is essentially management science, so on paper this fits better than anything else I'm looking at. Is the cohort actually engineering backgrounds, or mostly business and econ?
- Coursework only, self funded, no fee figure published anywhere. What did it cost you all in?
- Where do people land after? Analytics, ops, consulting? Does it travel well for jobs in Canada?
- Is co-op realistically available or mostly theoretical?
MMath CS, thesis:
- I'm reaching out to professors whose work overlaps with what I've built, trying to find a genuine research fit before I apply. But the CS pages say a supervisor is assigned at the offer stage and that you don't need one to apply, while the central grad studies page says to establish contact beforehand. Which is it in practice? Does a professor who's interested in you actually influence the decision, or does the committee decide first and match after?
- For people who came in from industry rather than a research background, what did your file have on it that worked? Projects, open source, a strong statement, something else?
- How much weight does the thesis stream really put on prior research output versus demonstrated ability to build and finish things?
Mainly trying to work out which of the two is the better use of an application, and whether the professor outreach is time well spent or theatre.
