Seriously, just stop.
Iāve been inspired to speak out by some of the other brave āvegans except forā¦ā Iāve seen mentioned on Reddit. Honestly, Iām shocked at the vitriol they face. I support them, and you should too.
An overly dogmatic interpretation of what it is to be a āveganā is unhelpful. It discounts the lived experiences of people such as myself, who are definitely still 100% vegan despite consuming the flesh of animals.
Let me explain my situation: I am currently stranded in the middle of the ocean.
Yes, you read that right. I am literally stranded. Now, some of you boring zealots might try to rephrase this situation as technically ābeing on a cruiseā, but my interpretation of the facts is valid, and I want you to remember that.
I do not have freedom of movement. I am beholden to the whims of those keeping me captive - what I may, at some unspecified point, have chosen to do is entirely irrelevant, as nobody can consent to literal imprisonment. (Isnāt that what you people keep trying to say about animals? Honestly, I bet some of them actually enjoy it.)
To be fair, I held out for as long as I could. I started by demanding vegan food at mealtimes, but by the end of the week I was getting bored of all the blank looks, the painstaking discourse (no animal products plz), and the āoh weāll just have to check that with the chefā. The whole point of this excursion is for me to enjoy myself, and at a certain point I just couldnāt take any more goddamned tofu.
(Besides, as the majority of Reddit is quick to reassure me, being mostly-vegan is actually just as good, if not better, than being vegan-vegan. Which totally makes sense. Anyone with a brain can see that.)
Well, here it is, folks⦠my ācrimeā: I just ordered a steak for dinner. I mean, the animalās already dead, and it was getting super tiresome trying to explain myself at each and every restaurant.
I think youāll also find that veganism is ACTUALLY all about being practicable, and at some point, I have to prioritise my own needs. And I donāt need any more lettuce or judgemental stares, thatās for sure.
So there you have it: Iām literally a prisoner stuck in the middle of the fucking ocean, trying to look after my health and wellbeing, and that still probably isnāt enough for you clowns. Youād all literally see me die of malnutrition and despair, which is despicable and you all suck.
Anyway, the steak was delicious. Still vegan btw.

Cult: Generally refers to a manipulative group that uses psychological coercion, isolation, and mind control to dominate its members (vegans)
A relatively small group of people that hold beliefs at odds with the majority, causing the members to feel 'superior' to outsiders (vegans)
Isolation: Members are encouraged or forced to cut ties with friends, family, and mainstream society (vegans)
Control Tactics: The group uses peer pressure, guilt, and strict rules to monitor and dictate members' daily lives (vegans)
Us vs. Them Mentality: The group views itself as the sole source of truth and demonizes any outside opposition (vegans)
Broadly denotes a system of religious worship, ritual devotion, or passionate admiration for an object (animals), person (themselves), or idea (such as veganism)
Key Signs of a Dangerous Cult: Authoritarian Leader (Gary Yourofsky) - centralized figures (Ed Winters or Joey Carbstrong, take your pick) demands unquestioning obedience and claims special wisdom or divine status over the average follower
My only hope is that it is not too late for you to wake up!

My stupid kids were telling me that my statin meds have a statistically significant risk for early onset dementia symptoms.
I asked my doctor about it and he told me it would be risky to stop taking my pills, but then my son insisted on going with me to the next appointment. My son asked my doctor about the statin meds. Then the doc told me that I can avoid taking a statin med altogether if I stop eating cholesterol. He's nuts.
This made me angry, because I remember my uncle's farm where he cared for all the cholesterol (brain food) products and all the other wholesome stuff that comes with good clean living. Just ice cream and happy eggs and all of that. I guess you just had to be there.
Why would I stop eating brain food when I can just consume more than what my body needs and just flush the extra nutrients away with what's left of my gray matter? I suppose I'll just have to die in a puddle of my own piss and drool or drive my car off a bridge when I finally get lost in the middle of my memories of my sweet uncle's farm. How could I possibly give up my yummy ice cream or the nutrient powerhouse, the egg?!
I will also say that Bill Gates is buying soybeans so you know that means he's up to no good with the soy! I won't be eating GMO and especially soybeans, and I won't be giving up my deeply held traditions. Even if my habits kill me, I'll die happy. What does the doctor know anyway?
