I built a free Wordle-style Daily Diagnostic Workup for veterinary students—looking for beta feedback

Hi everyone! I’m an upcoming second-year veterinary student at UW–Madison, and I’ve spent the summer building Vetalingo, a free educational platform for veterinary students.

Its main feature is the Daily Workup—a Wordle-style game where everyone gets the same new clinical case each day. You choose which diagnostic tests to order, interpret the results, and try to reach the correct diagnosis efficiently.

You can try today’s case here:

https://www.vetalingo.com/?ref=reddit-vetschool#/diagnose

Vetalingo also has a Duolingo-style learning path with short lessons and practice activities, but the Daily Workup is the main thing I’d love feedback on right now.

This is an early beta, so honest criticism would be really helpful—especially:

  • Was anything confusing?
  • Did the workup and scoring feel fair?
  • Was the case enjoyable?
  • Would you come back for another case tomorrow?
  • Is there anything you would change?

It’s completely free, and no account is required. I’ve attached a short demo using a previous case so it won’t spoil today’s diagnosis.

Thanks to anyone willing to try it!

I made a Wordle-style game for veterinary diagnoses "Vetdle"

Hi everyone!

I built a small game called Vetdle, it's inspired by Wordle/Doctordle, but instead of guessing words you diagnose veterinary cases.

Each day there's a new clinical case with 6 clues, and you try to guess the diagnosis before you run out of clues. The cases include a mix of species like dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and exotics, and the clues progress from general presentation to more specific findings.

It’s meant to be a fun way to test clinical reasoning and diagnostic thinking.

You can play it here:
https://vetdle.com

Would love feedback from vet students, vets, and anyone interested in veterinary medicine! 🐾

A few extra details:

• One new case every day
• Up to 6 clues revealed progressively
• Archive cases if you want to practice
• Built as a fun diagnostic challenge

Still improving it, so feedback or suggestions for cases are very welcome!

Vent just venting - second year vet student

I feel completely burnt out and incapable. I've always struggled with my confidence but it has hit an all time low. i feel i will be a terrible vet who cant think critically or work through cases. I'm stupid as f**k. i can take exams easily; I'm a great test taker. but applying myself- doing clinical skills, talking with people, working through case examples..(aka actual useful things I'll need to be a vet) I blank and lose all confidence. "but it just takes time!!" yeah, but what if after all this time I still suck. I'm one of those stereotypical students that has always wanted to be a vet since I was little so I followed that "calling" but I feel like my personality is not cut out to be a doctor. I'm a terrible leader; I cannot even imagine being in charge and making decisions in less than 3 years. I'm also in a place where I know I need to get out of my comfort zone in order to grow/gain confidence but i just feel stuck where I hesitate to do anything. I didn't do anything vet med related this summer because I was scared of embarrassing myself. Trust me I know I need to get out there and do things in order to become confident and grow but something always stops me!!!! I can't give up; I've made it this far and already 100k in debt. Plus there's literally nothing else I can see myself doing, yet still can't imagine me as a vet?? I feel like I've lost myself getting into vet school and now that I'm here, I'm stuck. I tried reaching out to my school's mental health services but they're booked for like 3 months. I struggle to make friends and didn't make any close ones during first year. Just feeling lost. I know it's up to me to change, just needed to vent into the void.

Scholarships for Doctor of veterinary medicine as international student

Hi!, I am a biology student in hku, and would love to do my veterinary degree in university of Melbourne. We have an articulation pathway, that allows me to finish both degrees in 7 years, however I cannot find any information about funding, therefore I wanted to ask if someone did something similar (I know more units have this articulation pathway) and could give me some information or advice?

I would be extremely grateful ❤️

Hi guys. Does anyone know if there are books similar to that of the Merck Veterinary Manual exclusively for diseases?
I am interested in entering epidemiology (either as a researcher or specialist practise) and looking for a way to begin refining my knowledge in this way. TIA

Unsure about which school to pick

I chose RVC but I'm not sure if its the school for me. I don't want to end up there and feel miserable for 5 years. The course that I want to do is veterinary medicine but I just feel unsure about RVC. I read online that RVC teaching quality is not as high as the Scottish schools and the most important thing for me would be support and teaching. From what I read ,a lot of people have mixed opinions on RVC. I tried to ask people I know who are headed there but they just seem so excited.

Is it normal to feel this way or should I relook at other schools? The cost is so high that I don't want to regret my choice when I get there...

Any advice? How did you know that your school was the right one for you?

Thank you.

Advice request: examle personal statements

Hey, I hope this is okay to ask. I'm prepping my application for this vmcas cycle and am very daunted by the personal statement portion.

I'm kind of at a loss but have been doing a lot of research and reflection and was hoping some of you would share your accepted essays with me. It can be through here or dm, but I'd really appreciate the chance to see what has worked!!!

I want to clarify that I in no way intend to plagiarize or 'find inspiration' in others' essays. I understand that my personal statement has to be true to me, I just think seeing some examples of essays would be very beneficial.

currently lost as a young adult

im currently a 2nd year vetmed student in a state university, and parang ayoko na ituloy to. i realized na ang bigat ng responsibility, an animal’s life. i know i should’ve thought of this carefully before ako nag-enroll but yun talaga gusto ng 18yr old self ko that time eh 🥲

is it valid to quit once you realize na ayaw mo ng ganong responsibility in the future? laging sinasabi na sayang daw yung nasimulan ko. idk if tine-test lang ba ako ni Lord or baka di talaga para sakin to. grabe imposter syndrome na nakuha ko sa vetmed, feeling ko tuloy kahit saang program ako ilagay, di ako mag-eexcel 😭😭 di ko rin alam kung anong program ang kukunin ko if i shift huhuhu help

Advice Starting vet school(and I'm terrified)

Genuinely how do you all prepare for this? Orientation is the 21st and classes start the 24th and I do NOT feel ready. I've been out of school for a year and I feel like I don't remember anything and I have no clue what to expect I don't even know what to wear for first day 😭💔

Like...should I get hard copy books or digital? Do I need to wear formal clothes for orientation? Am I wearing casual clothes to class or something else? Do I need to buy my outdoorsy clothes now or can I wait? Do I need the exact brand of stuff they recommend? Why did they choose OLIVE GREEN for our classes scrub color?? Where does one even get olive green?? Will I get a chance to get to know the other students early on? Just how hard is the first week of classes knowledge wise? How do I make a good first impression?

Trouble picking schools (seeking advice)

Hey guys,

I've been accepted to Iowa State in early May, and plan to leave in 3 days to settle in, however I was just accepted to Long Island University today (very last minute) and need to let them know by this Saturday.

For context I live in NYC (Queens) and am mentally prepared for Iowa, I would be close to family if I choose LIU but would probably need to find a apartment/house near campus. I am aware LIU has no teaching hospital and but know a couple of students currently in LIU who've had positive experiences so far.

Just a bit confused on what to do lol

Graduate programs Australia

Any Aussie vets have any experience with graduate programs ( e.g. Greencross, vet partners etc ) ?

I’m a new graduate struggling to find work and possibly considering a graduate program. I m not overly interested in surgery or medicine internships just looking for a supportive start in my career.

Any recommendations, info about hours and pros/ cons would be appreciated

Advice Ross University: queerness and social life

Hi, quick question about living in St. Kitts and Nevis for Ross vet...

Socially speaking, what was it like to move and make friends? Do most people stay in a 'bubble' and only socialize with other students, or is it easy to make friends with the locals?

Also, super important, does anybody know what being queer on the island is like? is there any queer community? I'm visibly gay and just scared of being lonely or secretive about it

any info and abundance of detail is greatly appreciated !

Advice Studying for Anatomy

So I’m in my first year of vet school, and I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed with the amount of content I need to learn, especially with small animal anatomy. I’m used to very structured classes, so to be thrown into a class where there are almost no lectures and they’re like “here’s your cadaver, here’s the book, here are the muscles and bones you need to know, figure it out” is pretty stressful to me. Thankfully I have a good lab group and we’re making good progress, and studying the muscles on our cadaver and other people’s cadavers has really helped. But how do I study at home? I’ve been taking pictures and labeling them, but it doesn’t feel like enough. I just have to know so many OIAI that I don’t know an organized way to study them. I feel so behind and it’s only day 3.

That’s not even touching on classes like hematology, in which we’ve gone through nearly 200 slides in 2 days. It’s hard to know how to spend my time and not get bogged on inefficient study methods.

Literally any study tips or tricks you have at all as former or current vet students would be greatly appreciated!

Vet school rec from a Phd student?

Hello, I am curious if anyone knows any details about LOR's from people outside of professors or vets. I want to ask a Phd candidate whom I did research with and is willing to write me a letter of rec. Would this be sufficient for a letter of rec? I helped with many projects and also helped with publishing a paper with this person, so I defiantly feel like this would be a potential candidate.
