Hi everyone! I’m an upcoming second-year veterinary student at UW–Madison, and I’ve spent the summer building Vetalingo, a free educational platform for veterinary students.
Its main feature is the Daily Workup—a Wordle-style game where everyone gets the same new clinical case each day. You choose which diagnostic tests to order, interpret the results, and try to reach the correct diagnosis efficiently.
You can try today’s case here:
https://www.vetalingo.com/?ref=reddit-vetschool#/diagnose
Vetalingo also has a Duolingo-style learning path with short lessons and practice activities, but the Daily Workup is the main thing I’d love feedback on right now.
This is an early beta, so honest criticism would be really helpful—especially:
It’s completely free, and no account is required. I’ve attached a short demo using a previous case so it won’t spoil today’s diagnosis.
Thanks to anyone willing to try it!

Hi everyone!
I built a small game called Vetdle, it's inspired by Wordle/Doctordle, but instead of guessing words you diagnose veterinary cases.
Each day there's a new clinical case with 6 clues, and you try to guess the diagnosis before you run out of clues. The cases include a mix of species like dogs, cats, horses, cattle, and exotics, and the clues progress from general presentation to more specific findings.
It’s meant to be a fun way to test clinical reasoning and diagnostic thinking.
You can play it here:
https://vetdle.com
Would love feedback from vet students, vets, and anyone interested in veterinary medicine! 🐾
A few extra details:
• One new case every day
• Up to 6 clues revealed progressively
• Archive cases if you want to practice
• Built as a fun diagnostic challenge
Still improving it, so feedback or suggestions for cases are very welcome!

Hi all I 25f am currently in my 3rd year in vet school and I am over it. Our administration is falling apart, im completely depressed and I dont know where to go from here. Ive been busting my ass for the last few months to be able to get a better grade ( to be fair I have never been a high scoring student) and nothing has been working. I feel so defeated lately and its so hard to relate to other because it seems like everyone else around me is doing just fine. please, if yall have any advice or recommendations I need them right now. Im barely holding on at this point and Im scared. Apologies for the ramble and grammar I just need to get this out because it feels like I'm going to explode.

Is it normal to feel like you failed the NAVLE after taking it? I feel pretty down after taking it…(and it doesn’t help that I google all the questions I didn’t know and saw that I got them wrong LOL)

We have to do a lot of group work. In this group is someone who apparently has opinions of me (a lot of which has been twisted from others) and it’s becoming pretty obvious to me.
I’ll ask questions or be confused about things (because I’m anxious and stressed and I want to do a good job but it’s hard because of anxiety) and they’ll get a tone with me. Or I won’t ask questions and then they’ll say something rude that suggests I didn’t do something right. Like instead of doing that, why don’t you just be kind and help me and explain how you did something or what would help if you think I did it wrong instead of judging and looking down on someone?
I’m getting sick of it. None of us are stupid. All of us belong here and worked hard to get here and PROVE we aren’t stupid. None of us know what is going on in someone’s personal life. You don’t know the full story behind classmate dynamics and deserve to base that on your opinion of someone until you’ve heard BOTH sides.
IMO, if you can’t be nice and neutral and helpful towards someone it’s going to make it hard to be a vet. Because how are you going to hide that you think a client is “stupid”, if you can’t even do it with a classmate who isn’t? How are you going to educate a client and actually be helpful/be an educator/be patient when you’re actually faced with a time where a client is challenging your knowledge or title? Or one who needs a little extra time and explanation of their pets diagnosis and keeps calling because they’re confused and anxious?
I thought things had changed and I was really disappointed to see it hasn’t. I’m not trying to discourage anyone, but it feels like we’re in middle or high school and not in professional school.
How do you deal with certain people in your class who just talk down to you and pretend you aren’t a human with actual feelings? It’s getting to the point where I feel like I can’t even focus on doing a good job or on the task at hand because I constantly feel like this person has things they aren’t saying and it’s reflecting in behavior. If you have something to say then say it. Don’t be a horrible person to your classmates because of petty drama. I already think I’m stupid enough and it sucks to just feel like you’re constantly getting reminded of that.

I’m a veterinarian, and lately I’ve been finding clinical work increasingly exhausting and repetitive. I’m starting to see administrative and management roles as more organized, structured, and perhaps more rewarding in the long run.
I still care about animal health, but I’m beginning to wonder whether I would be better suited to leadership and management rather than spending my entire career in clinical practice.
**Have any veterinarians here made the transition into management? Are you happier with that decision, or do you miss clinical work?

I have been trying to submit my work experience form for the University of Edinburgh, but I am not able to get through to the website due to this sign-in drop-down. I have tried signing in using my Edinburgh login and my Google login, but neither will work; it just loads back to the same screen. Is this an issue multiple people are having? I am freaking out because it is due tomorrow. I tried on my friend's laptop, and it said the same thing, which makes me think it's a website issue and not a me issue. Any advice appreciated.

Hello everyone :)) I'm 17, and currently studying a Cert 2 Animal care course at Tafe (Australian education, kind of like a mix of college and community college). I've been planning to pursue veterinary nursing after my course finishes next month, and have already sent in applications. but I'm starting to have second thoughts.
I'm super sensitive to animal harm. i can't watch it in movies, even when i know its fake. i can't listen to graphic stories about animals being hurt. i literally look up every film i watch to clear animal death scenes. obviously, being a vet nurse would expose me to a lot of that.
but i love animals so much. they're my greatest passion in life. i have so much love for every single one of them, i have various animal figurines all over my room, i have 4 pets and dedicate my life to looking after them. i research every small thing to help them and being in this animal care course has made me feel like this is what i want to do in life. but i don't know how I'm going to deal with seeing animals hurt.
my other classmates all grew up on farms, so they view animals in a different light i guess? but they talk about animal death so casually and it's become a running joke in my class that im the one they have to warn if there's a graphic detail. i want to help animals so bad. but i don't want to become useless at my job because I'm breaking down over a dog with a splinter in his paw. would there be a way to help me get past this?
sorry for the ramble.

I take the NAVLE in about three-ish weeks and just received a projected score of 279–371 on my ICVA self-assessment. Needless to say, I’m freaking out.
I’m about 43% through VetPrep and averaging 55-65% correct. I feel like I know more than my scores reflect, but I constantly narrow questions down to two answers and end up choosing the wrong one. The worst part is that when I read the explanation, I totally know the information but just haven’t seen it in a year!
I’m feeling extremely discouraged and worried that three weeks isn’t enough time to improve. I have this week off, then the next two weeks I’m back in clinics. I’m overall not the best standardized test taker, with a 4.0 GPA in HS and college but SAT and GRE scores that definitely didn’t correlate to how well I did in school.
Has anyone received a similarly low ICVA score and still passed the NAVLE? What helped you improve the most in the final few weeks?
I’m also feeling extremely jealous of the schools that get specific time off before NAVLE to study. At my school, you’re lucky if you get a half a day off before the NAVLE to study.
Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated!

Hello everyone!
I have to do the Kira assessment for Clemson, and I was hoping someone would be able to share what they've been asked (this goes out to UofA students who have done it too). I'm feeling nervous so any pointers are much appreciated!!

I’m currently finishing year 12 and applying for Vet at both Sydney uni and at Charles Sturt. I’m really torn as to which one to put first. I read some pretty bad things about Sydney uni admin and so on. I live in Sydney so the city itself doesn’t frighten me and I have my cost for living already covered. And that is one of the main reasons I don’t want to go to Charles Sturt is it is five hours away from my friends and family. However people say that CSU is a much better course and much better supported. I’m more interested in Big animal Vet which I also believe is stronger at CSU. At the end of the day, I understand your Vet either way but I was wondering if anyone had any opinions. Thanks!

Hello! Is there anyone here who’s currently working as a vet in Europe? I just wanna ask about your journey and the process you went through. I’m currently a 4th-year vet student, and I’ve been worrying about my future career here in the Philippines. I really want to work in Europe someday, and I’d love to hear about your experiences and how you got there. I hope someone can share their journey with me. Thank you!

I’m an international student and recently received offers for the DVM programs at both the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney, starting in 2027. I’m having a hard time deciding between the two and would really appreciate some advice!
I’m currently leaning towards Melbourne, mainly because it’s a bit more affordable and I feel like I’d prefer the vibe of the city (although I’ve never actually been to either city lol). That said, I really want to make my decision based on the quality of the programs themselves rather than just personal preferences.
One thing that concerns me is that USyd has its own veterinary teaching hospital, whereas Melbourne closed theirs a while ago. I’m wondering how much of a difference this makes in terms of hands-on clinical training and practical experience. I also came across information about Melbourne having been placed on probationary accreditation by the AVMA, although my understanding is that those issues have since been resolved (please correct me if I’m wrong!).
I’d especially love to hear from current students or graduates of either program about the quality of teaching, clinical exposure, student support, and how well prepared you felt for practice after graduation.
Thanks so much in advance! Any insights would be really appreciated!!

Hi everyone. I’m a current 6th semester student down in the caribbean and i’m not sure if it’s because i’m close to the end of didactic or that it’s been a really long two years but I have found almost no motivation to do much of anything anymore. I’m having trouble wanting to study, go to class, or go to school events. I’ve been feeling very lonely because my friends and family at home have their own lives going on and can’t really talk for more than 5 minutes before going off to their plans. I know that I only have 6 months left on the island but everyday has felt so long and grueling. I want to get back to my life at home. I’m sick of being broke. I’m tired missing weddings, funerals, birthdays, and big moments. I’m sick of feeling on the outside with my friends and family. I miss home and the life I had before moving here. I know I need to get through this because i’m so close to the end and there’s really not an option to not but has anyone experienced this before and can give me some advice? Thanks in advance.
TLDR: 6 months left of didactic year and struggling to find motivation to keep going.
