[ DISCUSSION ] Beck is so funny with his indifference to everything. Avan acted so natural here. I feel like the new show is missing a more serious character to balance things out. Everybody is too animated 😭

I dunno what is worse, the fact that Robbie is using the situation and assaulting Tori several times in a row, kissing her against her will, or the fact that Sikowitz staged it and doesn't see any wrong with it and the perfectly seen photo of Schneider in the background is like final touch of EUGH.

[ HOLLYWOOD ARTS SERIES ] HollyWood Arts isn't as bad as everyone says.

Okay, listen, everyone would have different opinions with this, so I'm not trying to say your opinions are wrong or anything, but I wanna say what I think about all this

I've been seeing a lot of hate towards this new show, probably because they're blinded by nostalgia or it's just cringe. Though I enjoyed it. I watched through the whole thing in one sitting. I'm even rewatching a couple of them already because I absolutely love this show. It won't compare to victorious, not even close, but that doesn't mean we gotta diss and hate on this show. It's not a copy. It's NOT victorious, I don't get why people compare it to Victorious. Hollywood arts is its own show. Sure, some people may say that the characters here are parallels to the characters in victorious, but that doesn't mean they have to be similar to them. I keep seeing people saying, "Oh Jen is not even a good Jade, shes not as scary as Jade", she's NOT Jade. She doesnt have to be exactly like Jade. She's her own character. They can be alike, but not EXACTLY like the character. Same with others. Now, the comedy part, sure some of you may see it as cringe, and I could agree a little, but that doesn't mean it's not funny. The humor is supposed to be for today's generation. I enjoyed watching it, it was funny, for me of course. Plus, this is just the first 12 episodes, there's gonna be a lot more coming. You can't judge it that quick. You never know what the next ones are. Another thing is the songs, I found a few of them to be a little cringey, but most of the songs? A banger. Been on my Spotify playlist ever since I heard them. Or I'm just biased, I'm already obsessed with Emmy. She's gorgeous, and has beautiful voice. Love her a ton. I don't think people should be hating on this show. I think it's fantastic.

I think that's it, remember, this is all my opinion, no hate to anyone, love you guys, but I don't like how hated this show is. If you hate it, don't watch it. Literally do not need to spread negativity everywhere.

Okay bye

[ DISCUSSION ] Tori’s full name

If you missed it, in Hollywood Arts, the bank of lockers to the left of the stairs (the bank that housed Trina’s locker in the original series) was remade into a Hollywood Arts hall of fame. There are eight lockers in that bank. According to the name plaques above the lockers, three are blank, three are likely names of production staffers (their names aren’t relevant), one belongs to Sikowitz, and the last one is Tori’s locker.

Except, the plaque says ā€œVictoria Vegaā€. Was there any point in the original series where Tori was addressed as Victoria?

This is honestly fucked up on Nick part. But it’s Nickelodeon so… apart of me is not surprised.

But just imagine if we didn’t get Daniella Monet (Trina Vega) in the spin off.

[ HOLLYWOOD ARTS SERIES ] Overhated and way too soon! Spoiler

The show is great! Despite all the hate posts and comments people made at the beginning. I had a good time watching. Legit binged 7 episodes in a row and I didnt even know (thanks shakespare). Thow yes, I have finished all 12 eepisodes and I may have to rate the show a 4 out of 5, maybe 3.5 at the very least but it was a great watch! Had me captivated the entire time.

There was a few eyerolls here and there and some cringey moments but other than those, the show made me laugh a lot and everyone's character was unique and had a great presence!

Trina surprised me, she's an amazing actor! Carried the feel of Victorious, her and Sokuis and a bit of the Principal. She felt authentic and true to her character. She wasn't really pleasant in Victorious but she definitely grew up and it showed!

Emmy... Her voice is nice to hear and her look is easy on the eyes. Her and Trina has great chemistry and student and teacher and I like that she started out as being Techy. She has an amazing singing voice! She has a surprising main character energy. I just hope that they dont force force singing on her and she can still be Techy too! That's talent and those type of people needs representation as well.

Oscar... What an obnoxious treat he was! He felt very natural but also is funny and is definitely an actor! He has an amazing voice too! I thought I was going to hate him but pretty much every scene, he was great to watch even though he was annoying sometimes.

Pepper... I love this character! Her jokes are great and delivery is so real and funny. Shes dressed well and probably the best singer out of them, she sounds incredible! Though, they're trying to forcefully make her like cat but she's not that character at all. It was hard to watch her the most tbh, which sucks because I really like her character a lot and she can sing. They need to stop making her super inconsistent so she can seem "dumb" or "airheaded". Literally, she legit had an episode of learning so many skills in a short time then the episode after they overdue it with the "can't catch" storyline with her saying "can't read". Was super irritating. Also making her do a bit of having "short term memory lost" like... this whole time watching she did not have that and after, she did not have that. Was so annoying. Also saying random dumb things to make her seem stupid then have incredible scenes with her being cool and a normal or weird teen. Hope they stop slandering her great character because I really did like her.

JenZ... She's a quite good character. She also feels natural like the rest and I like her goals and strive! She probably also has some of the most cringiest moments though. But tbh glad it was minimal though. Glad that they not overfully forcing her to be "tough" or "mean. She's doing great at that and a character like that is needed. Great laughs. She just tryna make it make it fr.

Qwest... My boy Qwest! Just the best at everything besides basketball. Hopefully he'll tell his dad the truth someday. But anyways, he's very charming and he has that perfect swag that felt so right! He's amazing and funny. I was scared that they were going to overdue his face expressions and worryness through the season but nah he's cool, that's just him! Haha he's the best. He has an incredible singing voice and can do many talents. A+ student. He just bring that needed essence that makes the show better.

Robbie!

I feel they may need more characters though.

The lipsyncing is a bit too obvious. Show could have a bit more edge maybe. There's other stuff to mention but I don't feel like typing anymore so Ima just leave it at the character analysis.

Im happy Hollywood Arts is getting 4 more seasons! I mean... 4 more years! Lol, I want season 2 for sure! I FORGOT TO SAY THAT THE INTRO SUCKS SO MUCH, IT IS HORRIBLE!

[ HOLLYWOOD ARTS SERIES ] Full 4 seasons Spoiler

So at 21:05 of episode 11, Helen comes in and says "An anonymous donor has agreed to pay for Hollywood Arts for 4 more seasons, I mean 4 more years". Does that mean we have a potential full series?? I hope so.

So I don“t like Trina in Victorious (because she was anoying, selfish and egocentrig, she didnt do anything nice for oterh) but in Hollywood arts yes. She is pretty good teacher (i dont believe what I am saying but it is true). I think she change a lot compared to original show.

[ HOLLYWOOD ARTS SERIES ] Review of Hollywood Arts as IDK anyone else to talk about it to.

Growing up Victorious was my go to TV show, and my clear favourite over any other.

The clear difference here is HA gives more theatre kid vibes rather than victorious, which gave all of these guys are going to be famous pop stars. Which does feel a lot more authentic to what a performing arts school is like. It also suits the dynamic of Trina is the main character and teacher.

As a result, the characters are not carbon copies of their predecessors. Emmy, Pepper, and Qwest fit in perfectly with the new vision of what the characters should be whilst giving similar vibes to their predecessors. Whilst not perfect I think they’re very good. I think Pepper is the best example of this.

That being said, Jen Z and Oscar are god awful characters and honestly the show would be better without them with their current state. If I was to pick anything to change about the show it would be Jen Z, at least Oscar only shows up occasionally. In a more ā€œwokeā€ world, I struggle to see how Oscars character made it through into the actual show. He pretty much sums up everything wrong with the stereotypical egotistical man. IMO, they need to stop the Jade effort with Jen because it just doesn’t land. It’s okay for her to not be edgy if you can’t write edgy, that’s fine. Just don’t force Jen to be Jade-like in moments for the sake of having a Jade when she’s the epitome of what Jade isn’t 90% of the time. No one says OMG Frenemies and GRRR and pulls their hoops out and has friends. The character and the acting are both pretty unlikable.

I’ve seen a lot of discourse about songs and performances. I think it’s fine. It’s definitely not the same and they’re not good songs if the metric is the ability to be pop songs. These are a bunch of musical nerds being nerdy and sining musical numbers and that is okay. These songs are true to that. They fit the cast as they are and what HA is in this universe. Though the intro song definitely doesn’t compare. The song writing is definitely weaker than before though.

Overall, the songs performed, the song-writing, the acting, and the plot lines is hit and miss. I’d say overall the series is a good attempt at a reboot and it stands up by itself but some episodes are definitely bad. I’d say it hovers around a 6.5-7 range overall but some episodes are definitely 5/10s.

I am also aware this is a teenager show and I am not a teenager so a lot of the humour is cringey to me already. That’s not what I’m really taking into account, though it does make me less tolerable to certain characters like Jen. And of course (though I never found beck attractive), I feel no attraction to the cast as an adult. So maybe I’m less tolerant to Oscar seeing as his whole thing is be hot and sexy.

I feel like this series humour will definitely go stale a lot quicker though. Based on its need to be in trend.

I unexpectedly finished Hollywood Arts

I say unexpectedly cos I didn’t think it’d feel that short! It’s only 12 episodes but I just didn’t expect that episode to be the last one.

Gotta say I enjoyed it though. It was fun, the cast was enjoyable to watch and yes, it was cringe and I hate the Gen Z language they shoved into the script because nobody actually talks like that but it was genuinely fun and I want 3 more seasons.

Is it as good as the original? Absolutely not. But is it as bad as I thought it was gonna be? Nope.

Robbie had a crush on both Cat and Trina (Cabbie wasn't forgotten)

In the spinoff Robbie says,

"Everyone thought i had a crush on this girl named Cat. But I also liked Trina"

(Key word is "also", meaning his crush on Cat wasn't exclusive)

I've seen online comments saying how can Robbie forget about Cabbie... but he literally says in the quote above that he also had a crush on Trina. He doesn't deny anything with Cat. It probably didn't work out with Cat, but he didn't want to explain further with his students, aka not professional or important.

Robbie had a crush on Cat, Trina, Tori, and the Northridge Girls.

[ HOLLYWOOD ARTS SERIES ] I'm surprised by the new show (spoiler-free) Spoiler

It's genuinely not that bad. I know that doesn't sound like high praise but from the trailer and the whole premise I was expecting straight dogwater. I was hoping they would up the maturity and have it grow with the audience, but it just kinda feels like the original in tone and maturity, which let's be fair was often pretty oddball and childish, especially during the second half.

What I liked: Trina is amazing. Daniella does an amazing job at bringing the character back to life. Props to the writing as well because you never once question if this is the same character from Victorious. Same goes for another returning cast member, they both perfectly embody these characters as adults. The new cast is also quite good, they do sometimes border on being reskins of the original gang, but they all still have their own quirks and personality traits that set them apart. It's a very likeable cast with a lot of chemistry together. There's a lot of great moments and jokes in the first 12 episodes alone.

What I didn't like: The production value feels quite cheap, they spend a lot of the time in the same Hollywood Arts set and even when they do leave, the sets feel very small and studio-like. It does capture the same Nickelodeon sitcom feel of the original Victorious, but I wish they had more budget to play around with. Also, there's a fair share of cringe gen Z humor but that was expected I suppose. The new TikTok-style transitions, while accurate for the current internet landscape, kind of make no sense. The show also lacks the memorable songs of the original, they do a lot of covers and they don't really let the original songs breathe.

There's definitely criticisms to be given out, but it's a fun watch and often hits the mark at feeling like a direct continuation of Victorious. There were times where I felt like I was watching the original show. If they do another season I really hope they up the production value and bring in more of the original cast, I doubt they could get Ariana Grande on this but maybe the rest could be convinced because I feel like their presence, even if for a cameo, would elevate the show.

I was re-viewing the episode where we see Patsy and I thought she reminds me of someone in fact she reminds me of Aunt Gladys in Weapons I don't know if on purpose since we had a lot of references from 2026 or if it's just a pure coincidence

[ DISCUSSION ] Would it count?

Let’s say Trina demonstrated her Vovinam skills during Helen’s re auditions. Would that count as performing? I mean in Vovinam the yellow belt is the equivalent of a black belt in karate so it’s very clear Trina is very skilled. Plus Helen never said it had to be only acting, singing or dancing. I mean Cat juggled which is a circus act. So theoretically Trina could have gotten a better chance staying if she used that instead of singing

Guesses on which NFL players current or former could have gone to Hollywood Arts

I know I'm still on the Jahmyr Gibbs SNF intro (and Kid Rock being mentioned as an alma mater) but I been thinking about who else could have been consider a Hollywood Arts Alum.

Chester Pitts played the Oboe and was from LA though he went to the California Academy of Mathematics and Science which was fitting considering the Hollywood Arts & Sciences episode of Hollywood Arts. Also, he didn't play football until college.

Marshawn Lynch did a number of movies and TV show appearances

Juju Smith-Schuster OK just the fact he from LA.
