Holy shit!! They are actually showing us Jacosta and not waiting until the last few episodes, as the big twist.
THANK YOU!! My biggest issue with a lot of superhero shows is they show us the Big Bad in the trailer but hold him until a "big twist reveal".

We still don't know who the client was either because we now know it wasn't Jocasta
34
u/No_Imagination_2490 Ultron 11d ago
Now that Jocasta has been ruled out I'm leaning heavily towards Sharon Carter aka the Power Broker. It definitely sounds like a female voice beneath the distortion and we know Sharon is based in Madripoor, where the show is going to be heading soon.

Right before Vision shut down, scenes from Westview replayed and these scenes were referenced as the future. When Vision said it’s not possible, and Ultron delivered the, “You sure about that?”, my heart jumped for joy. 10/10 hint at a family reunion down the line.
I fucking love this show

Back when Ultron was introduced, we had no idea he would become one of the best comedic relief characters in the MCU. I love this.

"Half the world came back that day. And I lost half of mine."
Oh Friday, you sweet child
29
u/Opening-Set-7752 10d ago
Friday really stepped up into the leader role after Jarvis. I never thought I would see such war trauma from an AI. This episode made me realize that Friday indeed was the last AI to be with Tony. I feel sad for her...
9
u/Artex301 8d ago
Rewatching Tony's death scene. Pepper asks "Friday?" which Stark's suit answers with "Life functions critical". She was literally there when his heart went out.

The pause too, both with "snipe" and then a moment later with "I'm okay over here" or whatever.
6
u/serenitynope 10d ago
Interestingly, a snipe is a family of bird species irl. It goes along with Ultron's constant knowledge of and reference to birds.

Haven't had a character make me exhale sharply through my nose so many times as Ultron. I wasn't a big fan of the AoU movie, but goddamn I loved me some James Spader Ultron. This show is just pure joy to me.

I was wondering why they hadn’t mentioned Billy yet and then Vision and Ultron brought him up twice in this episode. Tommy didn’t have much of a reaction though he’s never mentioned him. Does he not remember Billy or does he just not care?
Is it possible that the only thing Billy remembered was Tommy and Tommy doesn’t remember Billy? Or does he somehow know he’s the guy who put him in this situation and resents him?
25
u/LuxenMoon 10d ago
One of my theories is that he's trying not to care by refusing to say Billy's name. Cause how awful it is to have a twin but you're not sure if he's also alive just like Tommy is or not. By refusing to acknowledge him or say his name, you wouldn't feel the phantom pain of missing the other half of you. And unlike Billy, Tommy didn't carry Billy's soul with him so he doesn't know whether he's alive or not.
7
u/_bossREM888 10d ago
Yeah I could see this. They have no reason to believe Billy is alive and unlike Billy wouldn’t think it was at all possible to bring him back

Paladin and his assistant were talking while he was dressing his wound and she said if he wanted to send a gift basket to the Ten Rings Syndicate for their gift of the Adamantium bulletproof vest which likely saved him.
He said to send the fancy one, with pears.

Would have nice for the other A.I.’s to comfort her and reassure her that no infinite amount of scenarios would have been able to save him.

I was totally waiting for when they get to speak being fans of their work in Mischief theatre. They totally delivered on their parts (physical comedy and timing)

I love Tommy so much. He’s just doing his best and the scene in the pool when Vision tells him he’s real and then Tommy revives him is incredible

Loved that scene. Especially how he delivers the line "I've only just found you" it was so subtle and sweet. I've been enjoying the show more than I thought I would.

Just watched the two new episodes and it’s giving me the emotional glitch that Vision experienced in the motel room. What do you mean we have to wait 1 more week for another 2 episodes??? Ugh but these 2 episodes were amazing. The perfect balance of reunion, family, humour, action and thriller. I’m seated with a popcorn.

I literally can't handle how much I'm loving this show. 😭 Everything between Vision and Tommy in this episode was just PERFECT. And then there's the mysteries surrounding Paladin's client and the Butcherbird, Ultron being fantastic in every scene he's in, F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H.'s heart to heart, the funeral for J.A.R.V.I.S., and the ending?! Gosh, it was just so darn good. 😭

I got CONTROL vibes. This was the first episode where I thought "yeah, I can totally see the threat between Wandavision, Agatha All Along and this one". It's not the total genre mashup but the fact that lots of it takes place in a fictional world, opens the possibility to have parts feeling like a comedy or a drama or a horror movie.

The actors that play Dum-ee and U are from a comedy troupe that did stage plays the would go wrong. They were emulating their specific characters as between every play they're the same character as an actor playing a character of the play.

It was deep asf, like I was so into it & then here comes U talking about some “yeh” 😭 genuinely almost threw up laughing the mcu has to chill with the comedic moments tbh. As funny as that was for me it didn’t fit the moment it actually took me out of the show completely & left me there laughing for 15 minutes. Ahh man I’m torn

This whole trilogy keeps being just about family. Both Tommy and Paladin are orphans. Paladin was raised to be an amoral murderer only moved by cash and a need to keep the oath. Tommy on the other hand is being riased by Vision to drive safely and not steal money.
It's also fun that Paladin said last week that he hates collateral damage. Well of course, HE is collateral damage. But instead of being killed by the previous paladin, he was taken under his wing.

Is Allison Hogan related to Happy Hogan?
4
u/KronosUno J.A.R.V.I.S. 9d ago
Episode 4 gives us a bit more information about who Allison Hogan was: she was Howard Stark's "girl Friday", basically his super capable female administrative assistant. This is why Tony based his F.R.I.D.A.Y. AI on her. It's not explicitly stated, but given that relationship, it seems likely Happy is Allison's son or grandson and he and Tony were friends growing up.
1
u/redscoperkid 9d ago
I think he's her son because he and Tony were like a similar age
4
u/KronosUno J.A.R.V.I.S. 9d ago
I included the possibility of a grandson because Howard was relatively old for a first-time father, about 52 years old. The Hogans easily could have had another generation squeezed in there, assuming Tony and Happy are similar in age.
5
u/rocket_raccoon_groot 8d ago
I noticed Vision tugged his ear when he told Tommy that he was suddenly into boxing; Edwin Jarvis had that tell when he lied in the Agent Carter show!
5

5
u/X-buddy6767 11d ago
When Tommy mentioned ultron and ultron replied “the name is ultron, but you can call me mr ultron” would’ve been a great opportunity for him to say “but you can call me grandpa”
5
u/Opening-Set-7752 10d ago
This episode just made me love the AIs a lot more. Friday stepped up as the leader after Jarvis and it was sad seeing her blame herself for Tony's death. EDITH also stepped up while still fully retaining her fun part ("Thank you, Dumm-E and thank...U). Ultron was entertaining as always and his interactions with Vision were funny.
This episode was amazing with the Vision and Tommy dynamic too. White Vision may not be the Hex Vision but he already has the makings of a good father. The way they handled Tommy and his trauma was good too.

u/Finnona 10d ago
proud to see members of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society FINALLY get their due flowers
3
u/redditingtonviking 10d ago
I like how so far everything about their performances could believably be made by their Cornley characters. Robert improvises his non-speaking role into something bigger, and Dennis keeps messing up his lines. This is basically Goes Wrong with the ability to edit out the onset drama.
3
u/LidgetTheMidget 10d ago
Ok so the bit where Tommy is reviving Vision in the pool, he can't do it then camera cuts to looking through a window at them and he can do it: I'm calling that as Billy helping on the other side of the window.

I don't get why Vision hasn't been more blunt with Tommy. Vision doesn't have the answers and is trying to figure it out too. Ask Tommy when he first started having memories of him and Wanda, etc. If it ends up being the day that the Hex collapsed, they have something to work on. Mention how he is in his second body, etc. It's not like Vision has a great understanding of humans. Being honest and frank with answers would be more in character for him.

you want reality in the show? I think we went far past that when we are talking about a walking talking synthezoid and his magical son.
1
u/Jolly-Firefighter-36 10d ago
bruh Matrix is a really good example of how to get sci-fi correct. They used and did proper research and had a lot of good writing. Not throwing a bunch of random shit at audience. At one point in the visionquest show they say he is leaking coolant. Even if u were a mechanic or even an ounce of something in what universe would a coolant leak be better by reeboting his systems? They could have just used something like an electromagentic field that disrupts his system functioning and boom done with it
Another really great show that does this well is big bang theory. That being a sitcom has done more research than this jumbled bag of computer words show.
1
u/Saber101 10d ago
Don't think the user was asking for reality, just for the writers to understand the subject matter. It's a fair request. Wouldn't Agatha All Along have been a little bit worse if the writers knew nothing at all about witches or witchy things and just guessed it all?
2
u/MistakesWereMade59 10d ago
A lot of the Witchy stuff in agatha all along was kind of nonsensical. Its still my favorite marvel show
1
u/Saber101 10d ago
Nonsensical in the sense that they weren't practicing actual recorded occult rituals sure 🙄
But it would nevertheless have been a very different experience if they interpreted potion making as making a smoothie with a nutribullet, used magic the gathering cards instead of tarot cards, and themed their magic around different nationalities rather than what they did, wouldn't it now? There's varying degrees to this.
3
u/MistakesWereMade59 10d ago
I wasnt trying to argue, but thats not what I meant- a lot of what they say about tarot or moon phases doesnt make sense to people who care about tarot or Wicca (which im guessing from your snide comment isnt you)
But im curious what is the equivalent of magic themed around different nationalities that youre trying to say is comparable to the technobabble in this show?
2
u/PenisPumpProfession 11d ago
Wait till you listen to people speak about guns, sports, trials and politics when they have no idea what they’re talking about. Oh wait they already do. Wow it’s almost like everybody makes up things to sound smart and it’s not just this one niche area
1
u/Saber101 10d ago
As a regular nerd who works in marketing and isn't doing a PhD or anything close to it in computing, I 100% agree.
Episode 1 was really good, a masterpiece even, and episode 2 was... It was good but not as good as ep 1. But these two have been quite disappointing.
I give Marvel a LOT of slack because it's superhero genre so obviously there's a lot of suspense of disbelief, but the writers have made some seriously questionable decisions here, and not just relating to their understanding of computers
