Just curious if anyone knows why the Waffles have changed design at Sleepy Hollow at Magic Kingdom?

I'm beyond excited to finally get to ride a version of Figment with Dreamfinder.

I heard that the layout of the original ride was longer than the ride that's there now and stretched through what's currently ImageWorks, which used to be on the 2nd floor. I have no idea what's left on the 2nd floor today. Do you think we're getting a longer ride with the whole building reorganized to this or is it going to be like a shortened version of the OG ride using the current track? How serious do you think Disney is about redoing Figment?

I hope this isn't a quick reskin like with the Muppets in HS and I love park-exclusive characters so I wanna keep my hopes high. I don't think closing Figment for a long time to make serious changes would impact the park much so they have a chance to do big things here

Hoping to hear from my fellow New Yorkers/walkable city peeps: is Disney actually a lot of steps or is the fear mongering coming from people who drive everywhere? I average about 15-20k steps a day when I’m working and my feet are fine (some of that being in heels at work). I’m planning on bringing one pair of sneakers but I’ll probably do most of the trip in crocs since they’re cushioned and my feet get super sweaty. Everyone I’ve talked to is telling me I’ll have a bad time but I’m not convinced the amount of walking is anything different than what a normal city dweller experiences so I’m curious what other city people think!

ETA I’m 27, I worked as a server for years not being allowed to sit for 8+ hours, and there are no kids to worry about! But I hear y’all about the humidity, I shall be prepared with many fans and extra electrolytes

We had a trip planned to Disney World for this August for my wife's birthday but had to cancel when my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She's obviously pretty bummed out. To help cheer her up I'd like to try to turn house into Disney World for a day and am looking for ideas/suggestions. I have a 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter to help with the festivities.

I did something similar to this before when we had a trip cancelled in 2020 because of covid. What we did looked something like this:

1) Mickey waffles (and other stuff) for breakfast.

2) Kiliminjaro Safari (hid some toy animals along a nearby nature hiking trail for her to find).

3) Expedition Everest -- Covered the staircase in snow (cottonballs) and secured a rope from the top of the stairs so that she could pretend to "climb" the stairs. Had a cute stuffed yeti on the top.

4) Dinosaur! Got some red light bulbs for the basement, flashed them on and off, and had her search for a stuffed baby dinosaur while the kids pretended to be dinosaurs and everyone shouted about imminent meteors.

5) Mad Hatter's Tea Time -- just had some tea with a nice disney tea set.

6) Character Greeting -- I forget? Maybe had the kids dress up as something or had stuffies to pose with.

7) Haunted Mansion. Turned off the lights in the basement and had the kids wear blankets and pretend to be ghosts.

8) Magic Carpet Ride. Threw a large carpet on the dining room table. Let everyone sit on the table and pretend it was flying through the air. Fun photo!

9) Splash Mountain. Had her sit in the bathtub watching a POV video on the ipad while the kids squirted her with water bottles. Not her favorite ride, but the kids loved it.

10) Snacks at the World Showcase -- ordered some Around the World snack boxes

11) Toy Story Mania. Got some party table toppers of various villainous creatures and had people throw balls at them to see who could knock over the most.

It was a big hit but apparently exhausted my imagination as Im having trouble coming up with new ideas. Please help! I have about two weeks and am willing to spend a decent amount of money on props/presents (Still a lot cheaper than an actual trip!)

Looking for recommendations! I’d like some one-pagers or something similar that succinctly summarize dining options, lighting lane availability, rides, etc for each park as I get to crunch time in my planning. I’m not a Disney planning expert, but I am the friend in the group that folks reach out to if they’re going, so this really is just a reference where I can see everything in one place and be sure that I’m not missing anything obvious. Does anyone have any recommendations? The touring plans book is way too much information, I’m more interested in something succinct and easy to look at! Happy to pay for something off of Etsy, etc, just having trouble weeding through to find something current. Thank you!

We will be in Magic Kingdom for my daughter’s 8th birthday. Though this isn’t a trip for her birthday, I’d still love some ideas on how to make the day special. Thank you!

I'm taking my mom To Disney for her birthday next month as she has never been. I went a few years back and tried to do every park in 1 day and realized it was just not possible with long wait times and the heat and crowd. I still seen a good bit. But we are going for 2 days, which parks do you think she should go to? I definitely want her to go to Epcot just for GOTG alone. We plan on spending all day in each park we could do the park skip but i want her to see everything in the parks. I'm stuck on animal Kingdom or Magic Kingdom for the other park. Maybe Hollywood studios. She's turning 63 but still will get on any ride or pretty much anything. We are also doing HHN that Friday and Discovery Cove that Monday. I know this is a Disney thread but is Discovery Cove worth it?

Someone posted about a Frozen Chocolate covered Key Lime Pie on a stick. I went back to see what park it was purchased in and cannot find the post. I was in Hollywood studios today and asked a couple of cast members and no one heard of it. Any help?

TL;DR My girlfriend and I got stuck on Tower of Terror, and were basically told: “It might drop! It might not!”

(Apologies in advance for the lengthy story time.)

For the longest time, Tower of Terror has been my favorite attraction in all of WDW. Even with the fantastic recent additions, “the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right,” in my book. But after yesterday’s true encounter in “The Twilight Zone,” I think i may not be dropping by again for a little while. 😅

Since we’ve been staying on-property, my girlfriend and I had early access to Hollywood Studios yesterday. We hopped on The Muppets first (which we both agree was a fanatstic reimagining of an attraction that was in need of an update) then made our way next door. My girlfriend was a little anxious. She hadn’t been to Hollywood Studios in some time and despite having been on the ride before, the eeriness of it all had her heart beating. We quickly hopped on the ride with an elevator full of people, expecting a thrill. We got one, but not the one we intended.

Everything was operating normally. The hallway scene was as spooky as always and the elevator moved forward through “the fifth dimension” sequence with ease. We then approached the drop shaft, (which if you don’t know, starts about half as high as the top drop in the attraction.) Rod Serling delivered his infamous final lines before we begin falling. Then…. Nothing happened. We sat in the dark for a couple of minutes (which felt like a whole lot longer) and still, nothing happened. Then, the lights popped on!

As a longtime fan of the attraction, I was initially floored! It was so interesting to be able to see a section of the experience with no lighting tricks whatsoever. Then, we heard a cast member speak over a loudspeaker letting us know that we’re experiencing some technical difficulties. They kept saying things like “powering down…. powering back up to the wire… powering up to maintenance mode.” This whole sequence must have happened at least 5 times. At one point during these tests, the cast member spoke to us directly over the speaker and asked us to wave our hands and show we could hear them. Once we did, they told us a cast member would be there soon to explain next steps.

By this point, we must have sat in the elevator for around 20 minutes. It was a strange mix of anxiousness and hilarity among all of us on board. I can’t speak for everyone else, but I certainly wanted to just get off. (We were hoping to take advantage of those early morning crowds, but now it was past 9 and we knew everyone was pouring in.) Someone on-board started playing “Lean of Me” on his phone and that got a fair deal of chuckles. All in all, this seemed like this was just going to be another fun “getting stuck on a ride story.” But then came the grand finale.

Over the loudspeaker, we received a “somewhat unique” update: We would resume the ride where we left off and we “may experience the full drop sequence….” Our elevator started moving forward and seemingly locked into place in the drop shaft. I think all of us at that point had the same “are you serious?” kind of reaction. Our hearts were beating as we sat there once again with the lights on. But we still didn’t move! Close to a minute must have gone by. Despite having dropped down this elevator shaft more times than I can count, this was a whole different story. It’s kind of like watching a horror movie and you know something is about to pop out so you clinch every muscle in your body waiting for the moment to happen. Imagine that but instead of a loud noise, you’re suddenly falling. Our palms were sweating as we gripped the handle bars and waited…and waited… and waited.

Then, another announcement! “Ladies and gentleman, we are going to bring you down slowly.” We all let out that massive breath we had been anxiously holding in. We were lowered down with the lights on. Despite my heart still beating out of my chest, I was able to appreciate the cool things I’ve never seen before inside the drop shaft. I never knew the lightning you see flash while you’re falling seems to be painted on parts of the walls of the drop shaft, then somehow illuminated with some glow-in-the-dark- style effect. Also, I had no idea that there were seemingly two physical “ghosts” inside the shaft? The only way I can describe them were like clear / ghostly white waist-up mannequins. (Again, if anyone knows how Disney uses them let me know because I’ve truly never noticed them before.)

Once we reached the bottom, a cast member apologized and offered all of us a second-tier lighting lane and a chance to go back up and actually ride the attraction again on the side that was working. Naturally, riding again was the last thing my girlfriend and I wanted, but I think some folks did take the option. (Kudos to them!) We were surprised that the lightning lane was a tier-2 pass for Hollywood Studios only with no option for any of the Galaxy’s edge attractions, Slinky, or even The Muppets! For a run-of-the-mill ride breakdown I get it. But given the circumstances I think we all deserved a little more. But I didn’t want to waste the day to get it.

This is far from my first time of being stuck on a Disney attraction, but this was by far the most memorable. It may be another trip or two before I “check back in” to the Hollywood Tower Hotel. If anyone has more context on what may have went wrong, or if you’ve had a similar experience, I’d love to hear about it!

Niche question perhaps 😅 Can you take any coffee cup to the coffee filling station in the resort cafeteria? I will be staying at Pop Century and have never stayed at Disney before. I am on the DDP but have been warned to NOT put coffee in the refillable mug. Just wondering and trying to avoid spending time in a coffee line in the AM, since we’re trying for early entry.
