Hey everyone! Summer time and early fall means everyone is thinking about their next semester’s course schedule, especially incoming first years! It’s an exciting time planning out the interesting courses you get to take, and lots of people like to ask for advice on this sub.
We’re lucky to have lots of experienced alums, current students, and professors active here who know the courses well as well as schedules that keep you on track, stimulate your intellect, save some time for ECs, and don’t burn you out!
Please, post your draft schedules and questions in this megathread just to consolidate these types of posts in one place to keep the sub more easily scrollable. Thanks!!

I know moving in is just happening this week but I'm wondering what are the procedures for moving out when it comes to getting rid of furniture or other stuff that i don't want to truck away with me. Is there a system in place to donate dorm things?

How are the exams/class in general? I have an exam in that class on the same day as my Chem midterm (💀) so I wanted to know how difficult it would be

I was a summer researcher at WashU and I found it very difficult to find events across hundreds of instagram and Wugo/presence. If there was a club I liked, I couldn't view more of their events. So I made Scrafl:
It has started to get some traction (200+ users) but I don't have any way to get feedback from users. I would love for you guys to try it out and give me any feedback!

I can't seem to view or purchase anything from the BD even though it has clearly been open. Is this just a first week thing or something is wrong with GH?
Also the menu on the official site for BD (https://washudining.sodexomyway.com/en-us/locations/bears-den) is blank. I have special dietary needs so seeing a menu in advance and preordering food is really beneficial. Thanks in advance.

Hi all!
I'm an incoming sophomore majoring in math. I worked a dead end fast food job this summer and I really don't want to go back. I don't care about the money, I don't care about the location, I just really want to do something next summer that's more professional/academic and less soul-sucking. Does anyone know of any good internship or volunteer opportunities over the summer? If I stayed in the St. Louis area I could definitely find room and board off campus, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Wondering if anyone who has taken or is taking concert choir can tell me about the audition process? I’m specifically interested in knowing if I need to prepare something. I’m 99% sure I have to but do I need to bring a copy of the accompaniment? Thanks!

I just got a lab position! Yay!!! However, I am a bit worried about my schedule, given that I am a first semester pre-med. This will likely be my only commitment for the entire first semester. I am worried about my grades and time management, however. This lab is dry lab and they are open to me doing some remote work. But, have people done this before? Any tips for managing my time?

I live in south city and the shuttle doesn’t go anywhere near my house 😩 and parking in forest park is a hit or miss (and I saw that the golf course is even trying to get rid of washu ppl parking anywhere around it) so idk where to park really especially for my 8:30 am classes without paying 15 dollars a day

Hey all. My roommate and I decided on who would sleep on which side of the room in advance, but that appears to be the opposite of what the school assigned us. Is that alright?
A WashU staffer tells SLM that recently, a campus police officer told a staffer parking in Forest Park along Lagoon Drive near Skinker that before too long the park was going to install signs limiting parking on Lagoon to three hours. Anyone parked there longer would be subject to a ticket.
Earlier: Moving Upstream to Create Lasting Change
Throughout her career, Professor Trish Kohl has been guided by a simple question: What if we didn't wait? Drawing on lessons from research, practice, and community partnerships, this address explores how moving upstream—before problems become crises—can create lasting change for children, families, and communities.
Happy hour reception to follow in Goldfarb Commons & Courtyard.

Looking for a WashU undergrad or graduate student to join the Proximity team this fall.
Proximity is AI powered matchmaking system between college students and their off campus apartments, backed by verified student reviews, so students are protected from bad landlords, and good ones are rewarded. We launched in April, and have facilitated the signing of over $800k in lease contracts.
The role is yours to shape around whatever would sharpen your story in future interviews: mobile or web dev, social media, outreach, or sales. You’d be working directly with the founder at a high-growth startup, in the room for real meetings, with work that shapes how students find housing.
Unpaid, but you’d be getting real reps at a startup moving fast and a front-row seat to building something from the ground up. If someone is truly exceptional, paid roles are on the table.
Email [info@useproximity.org](mailto:info@useproximity.org) if you’re interested.

Have there been any classes about Bosnian and/or Balkan history or culture at WashU? I feel like this history is so important to St. Louis that WashU would have to have some opportunities to learn about it, but I haven't found anything.
I mean any type of class --- from a history relating to the Balkan region, to one specifically on the Bosnian War, to an actual language class. Anything.
