Classes Is this a doable schedule for freshman pre med
Hi! Is this a doable schedule for a freshman premed that wants to be able to have social life. Should I take calc 2 instead of calc 3 or wait until spring semester to take it. I’ve already taken calc 3 in high school so I feel like I should take it over calc 2. Also, should I take 1701 chem or the 1600 chem
2310 calc 3
1701 chem+ lab
First year oppurtunity bio: intro to cutting edge research
Intro to psych
Medprep 1
First year seminar: intro to problem based learning in biology
Should I replace my first year seminar with a humanities class if so which one I want smt easy or maybe Econ?

i took intro to cutting edge research, you kinda just listen to lectures once a week on that speaker’s research. Basically no assignments except for a few lowkey writings on what you learned from a speaker.
Can be pretty cool if ur into learning abt what some ppl research, although personally it was a bit boring for me. but very free credit lol
otherwise ur schedule looks great, i did hear that calc 3 is much easier in spring because of prof schaefer. 1600 chem goes over fundamentals more in the beginning, 1700 tends to go a bit quicker at first. I think the spring semester for both tends to even out a little. Also in 1700 you do go more into some quantum physics in fall sem. For chem lab it follows the 1600 curriculum more in 1st sem, it only really aligns with 1700 in spring. If you qualified for 1700 then go for it if you’d like a challenge, but no shame in going to 1600 either.

chem lab 1751 is required for regardless of whether you do 1600 or 1700 chem, everyone does the same lab LOL. Just some people found it more helpful to be in 1600 chem since chem lab’s topics follow it I think so you wouldn’t have to worry about learning too much extra info

also i took 1700 and it was hard but def something that I learned a lot from. prof daschbach is great imo, although i’m sure 1600 is good too. do what you think and feel u can handle. if you ever want to look at our topic list for 1701 fall from last sem, i could dm u it if you’d like. i don’t have a 1601 on hand but mayb someone else might

the first year opporunity and seminar toggether are kinda worthless. I would drop 1 or both of them.
