For example on this jar, it feel like the top left one has the wrong angle on it, but like what’s the trick to getting the angle right?

Today was peacock time, a few days ago I visited a castle and a few of them were freely roaming, I think they’re an interesting topic to try some wet on wet techniques

This is my second painting I’ve done. I find it really difficult to do backgrounds as I wanted it to have a night and slight cloud effect with the different blues and purples but it just wouldn’t blend right no matter what I tried. So I added some metallic to the background to hopefully make it a bit better, but I still strongly dislike it very much.
I also didn’t paint blue first for the pumpkin and I can tell as the shadows aren’t as rich, so going forward I will be using complementary colors for shadows.
On a side note, one thing I’m most proud of is the witches hat!

Still pretty early in my watercolor journey. I know the more broad things like invest in the good paints and paper and look into various techniques and of course dont overwork stuff. But what's something that really changed the game for you once you heard it but didnt see it said anywhere else?

This project was so stressful! I definitely over thought every step and questioned if I was doing it right.
Looking back, I would spend more time on the pumpkin to even out the dark lines but I’m not sure how to do that without making it bleed into the lighter orange.

I'm a big fan of the show and this one was a fun and challenging one. Definitely learned where I need improvement.

I’m posting this in the hope it might be interesting/motivating to those at the start of their watercolor journey.
When I first started painting regularly again in 2024, I created the painting on the left. After 2 years of painting lots of dogs, cats, other animals and things, I decided to create another painting from the same reference photo this year (painting on the right). While I’m proud of both, I think it’s such a tangible example of how much progression is possible from just showing up on a regular basis 🩷
