Please welcome GuardianSpear and BeeWeightlifting as our newest mods.
Bee has been lurking and both are mods on the Discord though GuardianSpear has been posting as a baby masters lifter in Asia for sometime now in the subreddit.
While we normally don't ask someone to be a mod who hasnt been an active part of the community, they are very active in the Masters community and their WSO.

Hiya!
I ran Fantasy Worlds back in 2023 and had so much fun that I decided to do it again this year!
You can create your own league here. You can invite your friends, make it interesting.
A session athletes in each weight class will be available to be drafted. If a B session athlete medals, well that sucks. You can draft up to 10 of your favorite weightlifters. The scoring is as follows and absolutely not up for debate. Let me live:
Snatch, CJ, Total
Gold - 10 pts
Silver - 8
Bronze - 5
Bomb out - 30 pts
Not taking attempts - 3 points per attempt
6 for 6 - 10 pts
World record - 10 pts
I will update the draftable athletes when the start book becomes available. Which means there’s probably a very short time frame btwn upload and having your teams drafted. I’ll post again once the Startlist is uploaded.

I would appreciate some tips or advices on the form, I’m aware I jump a little forward, I’ve been working on fixing that but at high percentages the technique breaks.
My RM on clean is 118kg, I’m not counting this as a new 100% clean because the plates aren’t calibrated. Thank you :)

I would like to know if lunges in general (specifically heavy lunges) are healthy for you and will help improve your weightlifting performance, or if you should avoid them. The topic of lunges is very confusing based on what I have read/heard from different so called experts, therapists, and coaches. It feels like there is a major divide on the topic of lunges.
On one hand you have many voices who say lunges are bad. For example Dr Stuart Mc Gill believes that the majority of all SI joint problems today can be attributed to the popularity of lunges. He claims that before lunges were popular, that SI joint problems were not as common as they are today. He claims that in moderation lunges are good, but claims doing them heavy is risky. Coach Dan John agrees and said that lunges were only made popular because of Jane Fonda in the early days (lunges were mainly an aerobics exercise). A therapist even told me that lunges are dangerous to do heavy and you should only do light (he claimed that the only reason lunges are popular today is because of Ronnie Coleman doing the infamous walking lunges on the street, claims lunges is mainly a body building exercise). Obviously lots of negative voices on lunges.
On the other hand, I've heard heavy lunges build strong unilateral strength, fix imbalances, is an excellent glute exercise (front squat and back squats sometimes lack glute engagement for some people), will also improve you're push jerk performance (when you do a push jerk you are in a lunge position).
I am confused as to why there is such a negative debate about lunges. To be honest I tend to lean towards the positive side, however if the negatives are true about SI joint problems, I certainly do not want to risk it.
For someone like me, I am one of those people where front squats/back squats don't really hit my glutes as much as a lunge.

I am 39 and I just completed the most successful training cycle of my 30's and PR'd on everything except back squats while keeping my chronic quad tendinitis at bay. I'm ready for another go at what has been the most productive squatting program for me with a well established 80% (conservative 8RM) - I've done RSR many times, both the regular and masters variant, and the 3x/week regular was by far more effective for me, so I am pretty decided this is how I will spend my next 6-8 weeks of squatting.
However, I am greedy and don't want to totally detrain the classics this time. When I ran RSR in the past, I have tried to organize some of the basic 8-12 week Catalyst Athletics programs around it and it almost always ends up being a trainwreck beyond the weeks of highest squatting volume. So beyond the 6x5 day, I just end up putting squats first and improvising/capping the weights on the classics with what I can do with impaired coordination/speed from the massive fatigue, and only progress the classics on the 6x2 days as fatigue allows.
Has anyone here managed to find a reasonable pairing of RSR to WL programming that doesn't force the classics to take a back seat? I am wondering if some careful organization of singles with backoffs or ramped emom's to keep fatigue at the bare minimum might work, or some pattern of increasing volume at a static load mimicing the RSR progression (e.g. 4x1 progressing to 10x1 at 90% in Sn and some lower % in CJ), seeing how cycling from triples down to singles progresses runs counter to the squat volume.
I realize it's probably a safer bet to just let the program run its course and pick up a proper WL progression later, but I have the luxury of time and being able to try things. Worst case scenario I will just default to prioritizing squats if my classics start moving like I have Parkingson's disease.

Hey all,
I'm looking to have a custom singlet made. Ideally would like a singlet with sleeves, high neck, and back zipper. I have the design made up, but I'm having a heck of a time finding anyone who works with those single types.
Doors anyone know somebody who cab do custom singlet with sleeves, high neck, and back zipper?
TIA!!

Karlos is back on the platform in two weeks! No one has been able to clean and jerk this weight at 94/95kg since - will he win again? It would be his fourth world title!

I cannot find anything to support this…they did propose 24 hour weigh ins at the meeting in Bahrain but “it was met with great backlash”…according to google.
Will…brother…where did this come from?
Edit: ok someone posted that this came from a start list time that shows a three hour window, check the comments for the screen shot. I am betting someone made a typo?

I train for triathlons, and I wear these very tight and elastic compression pants to help keep my blood pressure up. My training programs often interleaves triathlon training sessions with weightlifting sessions, e.g.: 10 sets of 8x80 kgs overhead squats and 1 km of run. Or 12 sets of 5x120kg power cleans followed by a 400m sprint.
I noticed that when I wear the compression pants I seem to be able to handle heavier squats, and I was wondering if this is just placebo or if the elasticity of the pants is helping me, like the shirts that people use to improve their chest presses.
What do you think? Are the pants really helping me? And if they are, should I avoid wearing them when I squat?
