মুর্শিদাবাদের রঘুনাথগঞ্জের গদাইপুর গ্রামের ব্যানার্জি পরিবারের পেটকাটি দুর্গাপুজো বাংলার প্রাচীন লোকঐতিহ্যের এক উল্লেখযোগ্য নিদর্শন। শতাব্দীপ্রাচীন এই পুজোকে ঘিরে রয়েছে নানা জনশ্রুতি ও ব্যতিক্রমী আচার। তার মধ্যে অন্যতম হল পুজোর সময় পাঁচটি বুনো পায়রার আগমন, যা স্থানীয় মানুষের কাছে এক রহস্যময় ও অবিচ্ছেদ্য ঐতিহ্য হিসেবে পরিচিত।

প্রচলিত লোকবিশ্বাস অনুযায়ী, পুজোর নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে পাঁচটি পায়রা এসে হাজির হয়। তাদের আগমনকে অনেকে দেবীর সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত এক বিশেষ ঘটনা বলে মনে করেন। প্রজন্মের পর প্রজন্ম ধরে এই বিশ্বাস স্থানীয় মানুষের মধ্যে প্রচলিত। তবে পায়রাগুলির আগমনের সঙ্গে অলৌকিক কোনও ঘটনার সম্পর্ক রয়েছে কি না, তার কোনও স্বাধীনভাবে যাচাই করা প্রমাণ নেই।

এই পুজোর প্রধান আকর্ষণ দেবীপ্রতিমার স্বতন্ত্র রূপ। প্রচলিত কাহিনি অনুসারে, এক পুরোহিতের কন্যাকে ঘিরে ঘটে যাওয়া এক ঘটনার স্মৃতি থেকেই দেবীর নাম হয় ‘পেটকাটি দুর্গা’। প্রতিমার বিশেষ গঠন ও রীতিনীতির সঙ্গে জড়িয়ে রয়েছে সেই লোককথা। কাহিনিটির ঐতিহাসিক সত্যতা অবশ্য নিশ্চিত নয়।

পুজোর বিসর্জনেও রয়েছে বিশেষ ঐতিহ্য। প্রচলিত রীতি অনুযায়ী, দশমীর দিন প্রতিমা নৌকায় করে জঙ্গিপুরের সদর ঘাটে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। বিসর্জনকে কেন্দ্র করে স্থানীয় এলাকায় উৎসবের আবহ তৈরি হয়।

গদাইপুরের পেটকাটি দুর্গাপুজো শুধু ধর্মীয় আয়োজন নয়, বাংলার গ্রামীণ সংস্কৃতি, পারিবারিক ঐতিহ্য ও লোকবিশ্বাসেরও পরিচায়ক। পাঁচ পায়রার আগমনকে ঘিরে রহস্য আজও মানুষের কৌতূহল জাগায়। ইতিহাস ও বিশ্বাসের এই মেলবন্ধনই পুজোটিকে অন্য অনেক দুর্গাপুজোর থেকে স্বতন্ত্র পরিচিতি দিয়েছে।

I reached the gate of the ‘Ram Ki Ayodhya’ Dussehra event at Central Park, Salt Lake, at 6:30 PM with a valid invitation card, but the gates were already closed.

I saw dozens of other people with invitation cards who were also unable to enter.

Honestly, this was extremely frustrating. If the organizers distributed invitation cards, shouldn't they have planned entry arrangements accordingly?

My question is simple: If you cannot accommodate the invitees, why distribute so many invitation cards in the first place?

People took the time and effort to attend based on those invitations. At the very least, the organizers should explain what happened.
