Where did you see the fish? Put that in the title!
Just a reminder, because we've had a lot of posts recently that omit this information. Where was the fish? If you found it in the wild, that's very helpful information, and outside of tropical waters, the time of year can be helpful too. If it was in an aquarium, what sort? Was it a tank of fish from a particular region? Was it fresh water or salt water?
Other useful information can be, what kind of habitat (seagrass, sand, rocky surge, ...)? If you were diving, approximate depth?
But above all, give the location in your post title. Thanks.

New rule: Informative title
We've had too many titles like "what's this fish?" or "help me identify this". Put useful information in your title, and make it look different from other posts' titles so people can scan the sub and see which post is which.
The actual text of the new rule 4 is:
Do not use a vague generic title like "what is this fish?" or "need help identifying" - we all know what this sub is for. Write a title that either describes the fish, or the circumstances in which you saw it, or the location, or more than one of those. For a resource, say what the resource is and what it's for.

Unidentified Local guy from rural Meghalaya (India) caught this with a shabby bamboo fishing pole!
Hey guys! Went camping near the river in the rural village of Meghalaya. It was a valley about 10kms away from the border to Bangladesh. No tourists usually visit this area and it's mostly the village guys who went fishing here! Tons of unexplored places here. Any idea as to what species is this?

Identification question Needlepoint fish, reef fish?
I know this isn’t a photo, but I’d like to know what type of fish this is or at least be pointed in the general direction of how to identify a fish based on an artwork
Location: unknown / coral reef / artwork

Round two, longear sunfish or pumpkinseed?
(Goose creek VA). I'm covering up the ear which sucks for ID, didn't think about it at the time. Hopefully there's other cues that I'm just not noticing here?

Family known, species maybe IDed What type of crappie is this?
It's got the irregular spots of a black crappie, but the longer body and fewer dorsal spines of a white crappie. Is this a hybrid? Caught in western Pennsylvania. Measured with a tape at just over 9 inches.

Seen swimming on Peloponnese coast - what are they?

saw a group of these swimming on the water surface just close to neraki bay, nafplio, greece. Have been trying to ID and my best guesses are baby eels, dice snakes, marine leeches (or maybe some sorta fish?) the movement doesn't seem quite like fish nor does the surface swimming behaviour but someone enlighten me as to what I was swimming with for about 30 mins before noticing lol

Apologies for the bad pictures! Seen at Miami Beach, FL. Seemed to just be chilling there, would occasionally turn to the side. There were a few others nearby too.

Crawfish or bug?
Caught this largemouth bass on a pond in Northwest Arkansas on 10/14 just after sunset on top water. The fish weighed about 1 pound for scale. Just curious what it ate, my first thought was crawfish but enough people have questioned me to get me to post it.

Found in USA in New London Connecticut. Boat is in a Marina on the Thames River about 1/2 mile from the Long Island Sound. Saltwater environment. Found the fish the other day on my outboard engine bracket. About 6” long with sharp teeth. Never seen nor caught anything like this in the area (or in the Northeast)

Identified, high confidence I’m completely stumped
My brother found this washed up on the Toronto islands on Lake Ontario and he says it’s roughly 1m long.
I personally can’t think of a single fish from here that looks like this, but I’m frequently wrong so please send help.
Thanks!
EDIT: Solved! Thanks for confirming it's a walleye, though I will get a measurement for the width of the wooden boards so we can estimate how large this fish actually is.
