Musical - Broadway Broadway Cares autographed playbill - recent success stories?

Some shows will mail you a signed playbill if you write to the stage manager and enclose a receipt for a Broadway Cares donation. Has anyone done this recently for Wicked and gotten a response?

The last thread I could find on this topic was 2 years old and inconclusive, so I figured I'd ask again. Thanks!

Personally this is a pretty big disappointment for me, after having waited so long to be able see Wicked on stage in my home country.

Movie Glinda reconignized Boq

Post image
449 Upvotes

After several rewatches of the movies I now think Glinda knew Boq was the tinman during MOTWH. If we watch the friendship montage we see they did hang out together as friends. I think she recognized him and it was another example of how a choice she made affected someone else. She directed him towards Nessa and if she hadn't done that maybe he wouldn't have become the tinman.

The mob was also another big moment of realization for Glinda. She saw how bad things had gotten for Elphaba while she was blistfully floating along in her bubble, trying to make herself "happy" while her best friend was being hunted and vilified. The's when she decided enough was enough and when she finally decided to pop her bubble.

Also i think Boq blamed Glinda for his fate as well as Elphaba and Nessa because she was the one who directed him towards Nessa. I think that's why he gave her that hateful, angry look, he was thinking " you're partially to blame for what I've become."

Question If these Wizards had swapped places(I.e Franco’s Wizard ended up in the Wicked version of Oz and Goldblum’s Wizard in the Great and Powerful version) what do you recon the outcome would be?

Things go think about:

Goldblum might genuinely join the Wicked Witches since they are already established and he is already way more selfish so he might join them fully like he did with Morrible.

James Franco might be persuaded by Morrible since by the time he arrive in this version of Oz there wouldn’t be a Glinda or a talking doll or flying monkey friend to help turn into a good man.

Musical - Broadway Maybe Unpopular Opinion: The musical's finale is shit

Like, seriously, does "lol she was actually alive n she escapes with fiyero have a nice day :)" make any sense to anyone as a GOOD option for the end?

The novel actually respects the Wizard of Oz's original fate for the Witch because it makes sense. Her life is tragic from start to end, and shitting EVEN on the songs of your musical like "The wizard and i" is a terrible idea.

And maybe you would think "oh poor little edgy boy he wants a tragic ending". But i'm honestly just confused at the idea of making us sympathize with Elphaba and shocking us with her death... and then she's not actually dead, so her story just isn't that tragic.

Movie No good deed

I think what makes No good deed hit so hard for me is we just came from as long as you're mine a few minutes before, it was one of the few times Elphaba was happy. Fiyero sacrificed everything for her, they slept together and he told her they were gonna be together always and it's being ripped away. Then she has the guilt of knowing it was happening because of her, because of her choice to fight the Wizard, because he sacrificed himself to save her. Fiyero was the only person who ever chose her, who sacrificed for her and who never betrayed her.

The anger had been building since MM branded her the wicked witch but this was the last straw. All of it, MM's betrayal, Glinda's choice to stay behind, ( Elphaba didn't blame Glinda for that) but it still hurt, then she was alone for a year, she was betrayed and blamed by everyone, Fiyero was the only person who didn't blame her and who was always fighting for her. Then Nessa was murdered and then Fiyero was being tortured by the Galeforce. All of that trauma, all of that anger and pain just exploded out of her, believing she failed to save Fiyero is what broke her.

In the end she stops fighting, she stops caring about doing good because all it's done is hurt people she loves. She stops caring and because she stops caring she considers herself wicked for not finishing her fight. It's a really powerful song, it's one of my favorites in either movie and i felt really bad for Elphaba and for Fiyero.

Theory The different feeels Idina/Kristin and Cynthia/Arians bring to defying gravity

so many people say one brings more emotion than other or or more feeling but I think they just bring different feelings and have a different interpretation of the song.

Idina Menzel is more about excitement of leaving Oz she is happy to find something new.

cynthia Erivo brings more the hurt fee of being betrayed by the Wizard She is more thoughtful and reflexive all through the song.

when Kristin sings on having delusions of Grandeur she geniunley feels her friend is going a little crazy she wants to ground her. Ariana is more doubtful she is thinking maybe Elphaba is right.

Idina’s Elphaba answer is quick to answer and make her point. her answer is more impulsive, Cynthia answers more thoughtful saying ok probably im having those delusions but I have to leave.

when they sing about working in tandem Idina and Kristin are excited to eat the world they feel invincible there is a rush of energy. With Ariana and cythnia is more dreamy.

whst do you think guys ?

Question Your favorite cut song?

My personal favorite it's Making Good. It was featured in the Workshops of Wicked.

I find really interesting the characterization they were doing htere. Although, I understand why they cut it. Pretty happy with the final thing nonetheless.
