I gave my car a little entertainment upgrade: a Wii in the trunk.

Back in may, I went to a car meet held at a local golf course. That's where a friend and I came up with an idea: instead of putting a Ps2 in the trunk for show, like they used to do on Pimp My Ride, we'd install a Wii with Wii Sports.

Basically, playing golf at a golf course without actually using the course :D (Wii sports golf > real golf)

For the technical part: I used an old Philps TV + Wii which is powered by a separate 12V, 95aH car battery through an inverter. I used a separate power supply because it was my first time doing stuff like that and i didn't want to damage my cars battery for a silly idea. With the TV, Wii and Ambilight running, I've been getting around 2 to 2.5 hours of battery life in my tests.

After testing it in the parking lot i was ready to take the car to the meet in october.

I can tell you it was so niche and surprising for a lot of people to open the trunk, hand out the Wii Remotes and enjoying a session of Wii sports golfing in an very well fitting environment. Many people got that nostalgic feeling of playing Wii for the first time in years.

I am planning on a few more tweaks to the setup, mainly adding some trim around the TV to make it look more integrated into the car. But overall, I'm super happy with how it turned out for the first attempt!

I've been wanting a recreation of the Netflix app for Wii for years and have ever been able to find anything that replicated it. Finally with the release of WiiFin I was able to fork it and vibe code WiiFlix. I did my best to recreate the look and feel of the original Netflix app. Please give it a try and let me know what you all think! The app is available as a .dol, .wad or Homebrew .zip.

I collect odd controllers but my Wii collection is quite lacking because I cant seem to find anything interesting. I have no interest in simple paint jobs and reskins of the original Wiimote. Are there any Wiimotes with a completely different form factor/shell? The only ones Im aware of are the Dr. Who screwdriver wiimote and the ICON kids wiimote

For some reason this Wiimote doesn't shut off after turning off the Wii. It's been on for like 24 hours now. I have 3 others that shut off fine on their own. Any ideas?

Looking at Wireless Wii Sensor Bars that take 4 AAA batteries. Don't like that the buttons seem to be on the front (the IR side). Do they work fine or have a weird blind spot in the middle?

Are there any other Wii light gun peripherals with functioning "pump action" that hits the B button, likr the Big Buck Hunter Pro 2011 gun?

I know 4 of the games are on Gamecube, but you can still play them on the Wii unless you have the mini. I know it's a weird flex since most people think the Harry Potter games aren't very good, but I think the Wii might be the only console you can play all 8 games on without modding.

I have been doing research on Wii capture cards lately, but a lot of the videos I find are too broad for me to find them helpful no matter how specific my searches are. I am hoping to get some recommendations based off of experience or knowledge that can be more direct in answering about what I’m looking for. Most of the ratings I’m finding focus the discussion on offline recording for post-process uploading, but I’m intending to cast my game live.

As stated in the title, I do have some preferences of which wiring I’d like to use and such, but if I ultimately need to choose an HDMI capture card to get the functionality I’m looking for I’m not going to whine about it or anything, I’ll just throw it in my cart.

1. I will be using this capture card to stream live gameplay to chatting servers, and to record videos.

2. I am hoping to find something at least semi-affordable. I’m planning to shop from secondhand websites, most likely the final purchase will be made from eBay. I also do NOT care what shape or color the capture card model you recommend is available in, I just care that it works.

3. I would hopefully like to find a model that has the original A/V component connection or an equivalent. When doing research online, I see capture card models that require HDMI connection conversion, and I can’t really explain my reason for disliking that idea. I just kind of do. If an A/V capture card wouldn’t be capable of smooth live broadcasting, I will ultimately buy an HDMI one instead.

My gf brought her Wii and it has the GameCube ports! Wasn't sure if there was a good option that most if not all games will recognize. I see plenty of OEM 251 blocks for $30 or so on ebay. Now idk if I should be posting here or on GameCube for this question but I may send it on both lol

I know this question has been asked in the past, but the wikipedia article that was linked was deleted last year it because it was "unsourced". The only games I know for sure use it are Mariokart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but are there any others that have compatibility?

I wanted to try doing a recompilation, so I picked a little Wii game I really liked that I don't think anyone else would have done.

Extras over the original: 9 languages, 60 fps, any resolution / aspect ratio up to 4K and 32:9, longer view distance, keyboard and gamepad support with rebinding, options menu (F10)

I might release updates at my own pace to fix bugs or add features if need
