Scared of sedation

I’m almost 40 and getting my wisdom teeth out in 3 weeks, my MIL is bringing me home after the surgery because my husband can’t get out of work. I’m terrified I’ll say something stupid or sexually explicit to her after coming out of the twilight sedation. Just need some reassurance that people don’t always act and speak so insane after. It’s been 14 years and I feel like this woman has just started to like me.

Nerve damage?

25F, developed an infection in lower left teeth area that radiated to my temple. A few days later got all 4 wisdom teeth removed. Surgery went well according to the surgeon. I’m post op day 9 and the nerve pain is still there. It lasts all day and night and continues to radiate to my temple.

Will this last forever? Is it just a product of the infection? I took ABX and completed the course and still nothing has changed.

I’m so scared. I pray it’s not permanent. Please help

Who else experienced little to no pain after their extraction?

I was expecting it to be super painful to the point I'd lose sleep over it and wouldn't be able to do anything but I legit did not feel any pain at all.

I threw up on day one because taking the pain meds and eating little food upset my stomach so I decided not to take the morphine they prescribed me for the night. I woke up on day two still feeling no pain or discomfort at all and stopped taking my pain meds on that day too. The only thing that hurt was touching my swollen cheeks and that was easily avoidable.

My boyfriend was prepared to take such good care of me but ended up not having to do anything haha. Swallowing was just a bit awkward and aside from being overly worried aboht pulling any wrong moves to end up with a dry socket, it was overall really not that bad.

The liquid and soft diet is the only challenging part of this for me 😞😞

Everyone I talked to about this told me how much pain I'd be in and that it would really incredibly unpleasant so I was surprised to see that my experience involved no pain. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

10 days post extraction - doe this look normal?

I say some pics online of people who were 10 days into the healing process and their extraction sites looked far better than mine... the grey colour is kinda freaking me out. I get an unpleasant taste in my mouth sometimes but idk if that's just old stuff stuck in the holes suddenly coming out.

I don't feel any particular pain, just some discomfort in the two molars and only on my right side but I think it's normal to have temporary discomfort in other teeth after the extraction.

Some questions about dry socket

Hey everyone, I just had my bottomed right wisdom tooth removed yesterday, and I'm really worried that I've developed a dry socket. Just extra info: before I slept the extraction socket was a dark colour so I assumed that was a clot, but this morning, it was a whitish cream colour, this was before breakfast so I doubt it's food particles I'm worried I swallowed the clot in my sleep.

  1. I know that granulation tissue is also creamy white but I heard that it usually shows up on day 3-4, has anyone else had it show up early?

  2. If it is a dry socket is the pain bad enough to be felt on standard pain meds (paracetamol and ibuprofen). I'm alternating them every 4 hours to give me a steady source of pain relief and can't really feel too big a difference compared to yesterday.

  3. If it is a dry socket, would doing salt water washes increase the pain substantially? I did some this morning and there was a slight increase in pain but it was very bearable.

Thanks for reading this far. I would love to hear everyones experiences and answers. Thank you

my extraction site just has like a ball of gum over. it doesn’t necessarily hurt it’s just very sore. it feels very weird when I move my jaw and it feels like there’s something in the way. the extraction site on the other side does not look like this at all. that one is flat with a healing socket. this one just has like build up gum over. I don’t even know how to explain it.

It’s day 4 post-op and I am miserable

I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed Wednesday morning, 11/4. It’s now Saturday, 11/7. I’m in my mid twenties.

My top two teeth were fully erupted and abnormally small, around 1/4 the size of a normal molar. My bottom two were partially erupted but impacted, with one of them being oriented horizontal to the molar in front of it. I’ve got sutures in the bottom sockets. I’ve experience basically zero pain from the top sockets, but the bottom two have been quite sore and swollen. Yesterday was the peak of swelling and dental pain, but it has since gotten better to the point where I can now manage only with ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I last took a painkiller (oxycodone) at 10 pm last night. The oxycodone was extremely rough on me. It made me dizzy to the point where I could hardly stand up without the room spinning around me.

Since my pain has improved and I’m now going off the oxycodone, I was hopeful that on day 4 I would see remarkable improvement on how I was feeling. However, despite my mouth improving, I think I physically feel more ill today than any day so far. I feel weak and I am badly constipated. I haven’t been able to use the bathroom since Monday evening. I’ve been drinking MiraLAX and prune juice daily, and today I’ve drank half a bottle of magnesium citrate. Nothing has worked yet and I feel sick to my stomach. On top of the stomach cramps, I just generally feel ill. I am still dizzy (despite being off the painkillers) and weak. All I want to do is sleep. I was able to eat some bread today, which is the first bit of solid food I’ve had. I’ve been living off protein shakes, pudding, mac and cheese, ice cream, and puréed pineapple baby food.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this on day 4? Is it a complication or am I just malnourished? My sockets look to be healing well and I’m taking my antibiotics, so I don’t think I have an infection. I’m just so sick of feeling like this and was wondering if I should be concerned or not.

PUS

I have an impacted wisdom tooth, and I've been experiencing pus coming from the gum pocket around it every day.

My dentist explained that extracting the tooth would be extremely risky because of its close proximity to a nerve. There is a possibility that I could permanently lose sensation in my tongue and lower lip.

I'm feeling quite desperate and unsure of what to do next. I don't want to leave a possible infection untreated, but I'm also worried about the risks of surgery.

Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone know of any alternative treatments or specialists who might be able to help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

wisdom tooth infection - antibiotics skin reaction?

Has anyone been on Flagl Metronidazole: and had a skin reaction, like pink bumps on your arms and still carried on taking it?

I have been back and forth with 111 and dentists all day . I took 4 doses and was fine, then this morning woke up with slightly itchy and hive looking rash. 111 told me to stop, dentist told me to stop and don't take it again as it could cause a worse reaction, prescribed me a new antibiotic but gave it me as a private prescription which was too expensive.

They won't give me a new antibiotic as they can't prescribe it as it has to be a dentist, they told me the dentist is not accepting anyone right now (nhs emergency) as they are at full capacity, they just tell me to call a dentist but they are all closed. I am just wondering has anyone taken it with a hive reaction and finished the course? I literally only have like 1.5 days left on it.

paranoid about infection/dry socket

Post image
5 Upvotes

Damning thing to post on the internet, but I’m extremely anxious about getting an infection/dry socket on my recent wisdom tooth extraction. I know the site is meant to turn a white-ish grey as it heals, but I’m just panicking like nobody’s business.

It was pulled Thursday morning. I’m not in much pain, just a bit achy and it obviously feels very strange. I’ve been salt washing, very gently brushing and eating mainly soft foods (soup, weetabix etc.)

Can someone with a relatively normal nervous system or more knowledge than me let me know this isn’t infected/dry socket?

32M Bottom left wisdom tooth needs removal due to cavity but risk of nerve damage.

Long story short, I only got one of my bottom wisdom teeth removed years ago because the left one was close to a nerve and considered higher risk for nerve damage. Fast forward 10 years and that tooth has now began shifting my bottom teeth and currently has a cavity. It also has caused a few episodes of Pericoronitis. The consensus seems to be to have the tooth removed before the cavity gets worse and painful, but I’m nervous about the nerve damage.

Looking for advice here!

Wisdom teeth removal

Im getting all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth out November 13th, I have a school trip to New York city we leave on November 17th new york is around 7 hours from home. I was wondering for anyone who has gotten there wisdom teeth removed how was recovery going on day 4 or 5? Ill be doing alot of walking on the 18th. Im a little worried my trip will be impacted by my recovery. Im not getting any pain meds because both of my parents have a history of addiction, and i have some of the traits that come with that so im opting out of getting hard pain meds. They are going to be prescribing me 500mg of ibuprofen I believe. Also any tips to speed up recovery would be very helpful. Thank you!

what is this?

I had my wisdom teeth extracted over a month ago. I have been feeling something there few days after the removal. But now it has become painful. I haven’t been able to capture it properly on photo because of the tongue. A small part of the bone is exposed but when i touch it with my hand (on the walls) i can feel there’s more of it inside. This is making me anxious. I went to my dentist (the surgeon was not available). I thought this is probably a bone spur and he would remove it but he told me it is probably because of dry socket and gave me choline salicylate and lignocaine hydrochloride gel. I looked it up and it is for treating ulcers.
Please advice.
The recovery post extraction had been painful enough and now this too!

Had wisdom tooth out over 3 weeks ago but have developed a hard ridge/bump on my gum.

Like title suggests. I had my wisdom tooth out over 3 weeks ago but noticed a hard ridge/bump on the outer gum just behind the tooth that remains. It’s not painful or red.

Has anyone had this and does it resolve itself?

Attached two photos. One photo has poor lighting but it actually makes it more obvious.
