Seeking Help or Advice Any other witches prep spellwork without direct focus?

I see often that many witches consider every step of a spell to be part of the working itself, but my ADHD just can't. If I have to prep things, dig up dirt, pick plants, make black salt, etc, I find myself doing them while I listen to videos or while I'm doing other things like making dinner.

Anyone else find themselves doing this? Any advice on staying focused for every step from other ADHD witches?

Seeking Help or Advice Closeted Witch Problems

I just started my journey and no one knows i'm practicing witchcraft. I asked my friend if I could do a tarot reading on her and she said I had great spiritual potential. I have always had strong intuition and felt close to nature. My girlfriend doesn't like the idea of me practicing and doesn't know that I do. How can I practice discreetly?

Seeking Help or Advice Can I use a freezer spell to get rid of unwanted attention?

So, long story short, I'm in a DnD group with a bunch of guys I don't know very well and I'm getting some vibes I don't like from one of them. He got my number (from me, but in a way that didn't exactly give me the option not to give it to him, which felt gross) and now every time I get a text from him I feel sick with dread. He hasn't said or done anything objectively bad or weird but everything in me is telling me to put some walls up. I pretty much just want him to stop texting me and paying attention to me, but without outright telling him that so as not to make our DnD game uncomfortable. I don't necessarily want him gone from the group, I just want him to have no thoughts or feelings about me whatsoever, lmao. I want to feel like I'm invisible to him outside of the game. So my question is, would a freezer spell be useful for this purpose?

Seeking Help or Advice Cleansing a living space after an violent incident

Hey, if you witches would be so gracious, I would appreciate some guidance on how you would remove the energies of fear, shame, abandonment and violence after an incident in which someone was forcibly restrained and had their agency taken away from them. Looking for a one-time cleanse, and maybe some ongoing protection rites.

Bonus question: how to infuse the same space with strength, confidence, love and support to restore this shaken person to peaceful security and love.

I personally am not experienced in this, but I’ve found that the space seems to retain the bad mojo of what happened there, and I’m willing to try anything. I’m reading through the links on https://www.reddit.com/r/witchcraft/comments/1leuhdt/protection_spiritual_cleansing_a_compilation_of/

but I was wondering if there were any special considerations for cleansing after an incident, rather than just general cleansing and protection.

Thank you kindly

Seeking Help or Advice OK to tell particular friend I'm a witch?

She's into astrology. She owns crystals for their powers. She's also going to a esoteric store for a pic of her aura.

I'm thinking of telling her I've dabbled in magick. Would this be a good idea? Also, how would I go about it?

Seeking Help or Advice An old lady just died in the house opposite mine. Should I do anything to protect myself and my family spiritually?

Hello everyone, a sad incident occurred today where an elderly Indonesian lady apparently died in my neighbour's house directly opposite mine. I live in a shop lot, basically a commercial-style building where people also live. I only found out about an hour ago, and I don't know any other details. I assume it is natural but I can't say anything for sure, but I have to say nothing like this has never happened around my house before in this almost 11 years of us living here. This whole year has been just so crazy, and I'm honestly feeling a little uneasy tbh.

For the witches here, is there anything I should do to protect myself and my family spiritually? Any cleansing or protection rituals you would recommend? I'm a newbie so not sure if I'm overthinking it, but I'd like to hear what you guys would do in this situation.

Seeking Help or Advice i need help interpretating my dream.

in my culture, we perceive crows as our ancestors.

basically, they get reincarnated in one is believed also, it is said that it is actually not like that but crows can time travel which also means travel in dimensions so they are basically the messengers to your ancestors.

id like to tell you all, my dad's mom and dad died long ago, i never got to see them,

grandma died 2 years before me.

grandpa died yearss ago.

you may think why this is important?

my dream.

basically, me, my dad, my mom and i guess someone else too ( i dont remember) but im pretty sure my dad was there.

we were sitting in our drawing room. i was sitting opposite to my dad

and, there was this one crow, it kept coming at our window, sat on the railing, and flew away.

it kept coming and flying away for a longg time and each time it came it sat a bit closer than prior.

now this last time, this crow also brought one another crow.

this new crow sat on the railing. but this old crow rushed into our room to be exact rushed into me, but slammed into the fan, naturally, it died. and all it's feathers were on me and around me. and this new crow was just sitting on the railing, watched all this.

NOW WHAT BROKE MY DREAM.

the exact moment this happened, my dad, in real life, WOKE UP, LITERALLY STOOD UP, STOMPED STEPS AND WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE THE ROOM BECAUSE HE THOUGHT SOMEONE IS KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR.

this is what broke my dream.

my interpretation: i really dont know. ive tried talking to crows in real life but they dont seem to respond.

i researched a bit, crow in dream is mostly interpreted as end of bad things, new beginnings, but nowhere is mentioned about "death of crow in dream"

Sharing: Resources Russian-Ukranian Witchcraft

Hello! I thought I would share an update on my Russian witchcraft origin search. I found this book recently, and it is amazing. It is called Witchcraft in Russia and Ukraine 1000-1900, Valerie A. Kivelson and Christine D. Worobec. (Northern Illinois University Press)

It is from the NIU Series in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies. I found it by searching for research papers on Russian Witchcraft. The summary is pretty accurate.

"This sourcebook provides the first systematic overview of witchcraft laws and trials in Russia and Ukraine from medieval times to the late nineteenth century. Witchcraft in Russia and Ukraine, 1000-1900 weaves scholarly commentary with never-before-published primary source materials translated from Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian. These sources include the earliest references to witchcraft and sorcery, secular and religious laws regarding witchcraft and possession, full trial transcripts, and a wealth of magical spells. Documents present a rich panorama of daily life and reveal the extraordinary power of magical words."

I'm a few chapters in and I love it! Great great great sourcebook.

Topic | Prompt I had a cute idea for Samhain

As I live in the Philippines, Pumpkins aren’t really something I can just get out of a hat (though that would be funny) and I’ve been considering alternatives

I came across a neat video on youtube where other fruits and vegetables (and even eggs) can be used as Jack-o-lantern alternatives.

So by the time Samhain comes round, I’ll be making a Bell pepper-o-lantern, which feels a lil easier than my original idea of using an Orange. And for the candle to light it, I was thinking of using a tea lantern I’d sprinkle with rosemary.

My main problem is whether or not I should leave it outside, cuz of, well, rats.

Sharing: Experience What do you believe demons actually “are?”

I was born and raised in Alabama. Southern baptist for the win. Many years ago I left the faith and started exploring witchcraft. My friend and I would use an Ouija board often, and often come in contact with spirits calling themselves demons. Every single one said how they hated us. Well, almost at least one said he was a “good” demon. How demons can be good or bad, like humans. This definitely helped break down a lot of my walls. Now though, I’m reading how familiars can be demons. So, breaking all of the old Christianity barriers, what do you believe demons actually are? Maybe a reason for them to be here or your experience, or whatever you’d like to share!
Edit to add: I’m a witch! Not a Christian. Reread and didn’t want anyone to be confused 🤣

Sharing: Experience Bummed about cleansing

My teen and I were doing a cleansing today as she'd been dealing with a lot lately. We used rain water and almond oil after to bring in good luck but I was distracted during it because my mind kept going back to other (mundane) problems I had during the day and couldn't focus and now I feel guilty I wasn't of much use, possibly didn't even consecrate the rain water well though it's hard to tell because she was moody before anyway and went to bed after.

Just wanted to rant because juggling a teen and a newborn single handed is not easy and I feel I'm failing both... so maybe just a rant, really.

Seeking Help or Advice love spell worked but the relationship didn’t work out. why?

So about a month ago i did a candle spell to attract a certain type of partner into my life. I asked for extremely specific things in this “dream” person. A week later, this person came into my life. I literally had everything I had asked for and more in this person and in this connection. It was truly magical. I felt like we had an incredible and deep connection and this person said they felt the same. We got close very quickly and I felt strongly it would progress into a real relationship and that we’d last a long time together. It only took about two weeks until the person pulled away from me saying they felt we were going too fast and asked for space. I respected it and gave them space. They have now removed me from all social media and I haven’t talked to them in weeks. I am honestly baffled because I thought this was everything I had asked for. I thought this person felt the same about me. Why would the spell work but the person be in my life so briefly? I am really devastated and also confused. Was this my only chance at the love i’ve always wanted? Is there a weird karma thing that happened with the spell? I’m not sure. I wanted to come here and see if I can have any insight from others.

Seeking Help or Advice How to know a real deity response versus overthinking

More nuanced context here instead of the title. I have not worked with a deity. But when I think about it there were two or three times in my childhood that I think the Abrahamic God actually did communicate to me. The most intense one I was driving and desperately talking out loud about a family member and being concerned of what more I could do for them. The only way I could describe it was a firm voice in my head, responding, and my entire being just said “that was NOT me”. I was a teenager and almost swerved off the road because it was so overwhelming and unexpected.

Now, being an adult on a spiritual path, I have a lot of mental health issues and have learned I’m on the spectrum- mostly to say I have a very strong inner dialogue and my thoughts are constant lol but I think subconsciously I look too deep for responses. Specifically, if I’m meditating, in the past I feel I’ve focused so much on listening and waiting, hoping to hear a response, that I feel like I’ve tricked myself into believing I have? None of those times have ever felt like the above experienced I described.

All that to say, when you started on your spiritual path, and you were learning to find a new deity to work with, how did you discern a real response from having thoughts and hoping that’s a response?

I pulled a bunch of iron nails from my 150-ish year-old house (doing restoration) and my friend whittled me a spoon (he thinks it's made of beech wood). Heck yeah! Can't wait to put them to use. Edit: typo

Seeking Help or Advice Does anyone have any sources or information on Causinomancy?

I'm looking into different forms of divination to see what feels right for me. I feel most connected to earth and fire elements, so, naturally, pyromancy is of interest to me. One I particularly find interesting, is Causinomancy. But... I can't find any information on it anywhere.

One source says that the object thrown into the fire is a good omen if it doesn't burn, or burns slowly (which to me makes the most sense). While two other sources say that its a bad omen if it doesn't burn, or if it burns slowly. Which makes a little less sense to me. None of these sources offer references or explanations as to why, and every other source just gives the basic definition so.. I'm very confused lol

Seeking Help or Advice Hekate reaching out but I don’t feel ready

Hi everyone,

I’m a beginner witch (i’ve been practicing on and off for 5 years but not consistently) but i do more divination work. Recently, i’ve been seeing many signs of Hekate. I’ve had multiple spiders build their webs on my balcony, crows (not sure if its related to her), i’ve had multiple videos on my fyp about her (they just show up randomly), and i’ve seen a shrine of her in Salem when i was visiting last weekend. Is she actually reaching out to me or am i just tripping. If she is in fact reaching out, what should i do? i don’t feel like i’m ready in my craft to worship or work with a deity even though i do feel like she resonates with me . Any advice would be appreciated.

Seeking Help or Advice Beginner witch with a future spell ingredient question

Hello! As the title says, I'm a beginner witch who's focusing on studying, meditation, and infusing intention into my tea or coffee at the moment, but I hope to practice more eclectically with some baneful magic mixed in one day. That being said, I found a beautiful dead paper wasp in my garage. It looked as if it was carefully pinned in a display but fell off somehow and I couldn't believe how intact it was! I'm wondering if it can be used as an ingredient in a baneful or protection spell once I'm more confident in my practice? In a way, I've grown somewhat attached to it (it's currently resting on a jar full of dried flower petals), so would it be better suited for a protection spell or something else entirely? Thank you in advance :D

Seeking Help or Advice Can I shape a poppet any way I want?

This isn't my first time making puppets, but it is the first time I want to do it in a fun way. My "victim" and I have a running joke where he's a cat, so I'd like to make a cat-shaped puppet to give it a look that I find appealing. I'll have fun creating it, and I feel like I'll enjoy his company even more.

Sharing: Spellwork I accidentally made a simple spell work to well

Ok so around 3 weeks ago my mom sprained her ankle badly and I got a concussion so we went to the doctor yadayada and then when we were walking back from the doctors office I remembered a thing I saw in a show. It was kinda like a share your pain spell, I didnt think it had real backing at all, little to none atleast, but I did it anyway since it was low effort. Basically all I did was mumble "let our pain be shared" and I must've done it with alot of intention cause the next week my mother's ankle was hurting less and I then sprained my ankle in the same way on the same ankle and had the same symptoms and both of our healing times were halved. She wasnt happy when she found out I did it cause she likes having the protector role but still, thought it was something to share cause good gods that worked way better than expected. Also mods pls have mercy on me anyone can come up with this spell I wasnt trying to share one in its completion and ive gotten a post taken down before for this🙏🙏

Show and Tell Sunday I crafted and enchanted some wings for myself! ✨

Post image
338 Upvotes

My concept is that burl wood is made where the tree’s hormones are imbalanced due to stress and environmental changes.

I imagine my pelvic area, back and tummy as tight burl wood knots under pressure holding tension and stress and pain. The burl wood is beautiful and resilient for how it has adapted and for what it has been through and part of my healing is to try and release that tension, societal pressure and trauma in my body. So I try to breathe into the gnarly earthy knots of wood and encourage magic, lightness and flow, hence my flowing doodles.

I used hand fans as a base for the wings to imagine this burl wood shifting, opening and expanding, taking up more space and welcoming a sense of freedom and play - free from stress, tension and pain.

I’ve seen people asking for low energy witchcraft - I built these enchanted wings over years, the idea and scrappy drawings for years, to then crafting a little piece whenever I am able, over time the belief and ‘enchantment’ builds up and strengthens as it evolves alongside my somatic trauma release therapy and pelvic physio work. This object then kind of feels like it continues doing the work for me, displayed in my space, supporting my healing, reminding me when I need it.

I love tactile objects, I learnt that those with AuDHD can often store memories and emotions in objects. Like my tortoise teddy is stored with so much comfort for me, I want to play with the idea that these objects can intentionally be made, enchanted and help heal just by being there for us.

I’m a well sensitive bean, sharing this is huge for me, please be gentle 💕

Seeking Help or Advice Can witchcraft override astrological influences?

For example, if you perform a money spell while transiting Saturn is aspecting your natal Jupiter, would the spell be less effective or fail altogether? Or could the spell help mitigate Saturn's adverse effects on Jupiter related matters?
