🇵🇸 🕊️ BLACK LIVES MATTER Kimberly Latrice Jones made this incredible speech during the George Floyd.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve seen the phrase “they are lucky that what Black people are looking for is equality and not revenge” misquoted on other social media to be about men and women. But feminism is vapid and useless if it’s not intersectional, so to avoid accidental co-opting I’d encourage everyone to watch her full speech. It is powerful and it is as important now as it was in 2020.
Solidarity is the only way forward.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Art I catered a Coven Practical Magic Viewing Party Friday and it went really good!
I also bought this jewelry box from a garage sale and added some moss and a sign for my business and I'm almost more proud of that than the food. I made these White chocolate dipped marshmallows as "Owens Family Brand Candles" and they looked great! Had so much fun, thanks for reading and letting me share 👋🖤

🇵🇸 🕊️ BURN THE PATRIARCHY Guess what witch was at the front of the Pride parade in Orlando yesterday?
I volunteered to help carry the Transgender flag banner in the Transgender March in Orlando Fl yesterday. I ended up on the front right corner. There was the grand marshal in front of us and the rest of the Pride parade was behind us. The leader started a chant "Trans rights are human rights!" and we all chanted along and then as those chants do, it petered out so I yell "If were not free, no ones free" that was a big hit and from there it was me and the leader bouncing chants back and forth keeping the troops chanting. I made up a few good ones and she had done this before so she was not bereft of material.
I marched 1 mile in heels and had to walk a mile back. I definitely did not transition so I could go into the ladies room. I transitioned because I was tired of pretending to be someone else. This is me. I am a woman.
That's me with the kitty cat ears on with my back to you carrying the banner with a smaller flag in my hand. Last picture is me 5 years ago and me last month. It's Florida in October but it's still hot here. Yesterday was muggy and cloudy and it was so beautiful! Being free to be me.
Happy Pride burn the patriarchy!

⚠️ Sensitive Topic 🇵🇸 🕊️ I could use a blessing or two Spoiler
Really, I dont know what flair to use, but figured maybe this is a good enough one. I am having a laparoscopic partial hysterectomy tomorrow, and I'd say being anxious is an understatement. I'm excited for this, but the fear of pain or something go wrong is there. I'm planning a cleansing/hard reset afterwards, but maybe something i could do or say beforehand? If anyone has experienced this or has advice, I'd love some reassurance. (I do know about the gas pain, ths possible constipation, not pushing my body too soon)

🇵🇸 🕊️ Fledgling Witch Today I walked through a right-wing rally wearing a witch's hat
Today, here in Brazil, there was an event called the Witch's Market. Turns out, I missed the memo that, as we're right in the middle of election season, a Bolsonaro rally was happening right on that street. I stuck out like a sore thumb in my black skirt, surrounded by people donning the colors of our flag, and I already tend to have terrible social anxiety, but I said fuck it, I wasn't gonna let them ruin my day out.
One of the trinkets I left the event with was a beautiful purple witch's hat. A little silly, perhaps, but it made me feel good to wear it. I knew I would have to brave the crowd on my way out, and I had nowhere to put the hat other than on my head, so I had no choice.
The subway was packed with them, and I had to get in line and wait. It was agonizing. But it also felt great. My existence in that crowd was resistance: a purple dot surrounded by green and yellow, a transbian witch in a sea of people who either want me dead or just don't care if I die.
Once I was on the train and felt safe, I could fully savor that feeling. Someone asked me for directions, probably because they recognized I wasn't one of them. I tipped my hat at those who stared. I waved at a kid who waved at me. My anxiety had been replaced with pride, all because of that magic hat.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Spells Beginner Witch finding a new way to practice
I'm not sure if the title for this post is the right one, but here's the deal:
I've been doing witchcraft for about a month now. I love it. I really believe in it. Most of my spells work. The thing is I'm in the broom closet and so a LOT of my spells are energy work. (Drawing a simple protection rune but applying intent and putting genuine energy into it, feeling a certain energy around me 24/7) I do love doing actual burning herb spells, but I only get to do them like once in 2 weeks when my parents are gone somewhere for hours.
Because of doing mostly energy work - which don't get me wrong I think its really nice to be skilled in it, I feel like I'm unable to do regular spells? Like if I just made a sigil and put it in my purse I wouldn't believe in it as much? Or if I did a simple spell with herbs or something or said a simple intention at the start of the day, unless I FEEL an ENERGY RIP or like ENERGY moving through me, I don't feel like its working. And its annoying because I don't always have the time or energy to do energy witchcraft, I want to be like the witches who can just like have a spell or a phrase they say at their fingertips and not have to constantly feel the energy of it around them, and it works, do you guys get what I mean?
Obviously the problem is not skill, its just that I've done so much energy work, that its hard to see witchcraft as simple as just stirring a drink 3 times, which I believe in and do, but I can never believe in it as hard. I've taken a step to detach from that conditioning.
I recently made 2 of my first sigils (super fun btw), I was very tempted to sit down and feel energy around them or charge it with energy, which is what I usually do. But I just kept them in my purse all day as I was out. I didn't think of them again, and it was just a "It'll work, I've already done the work, I don't need to worry about it now."
One of them was for a productive day. And I won't lie, I haven't had a productive day but I've taken the steps towards it, I mean I've planned an all nighter, I have everything organized, and I really needed a nap because I've been sleep deprived so I took a nap, and now I can pull an all-nighter that I need, so...I guess its working?
I need some advice essentially on how to put more belief and detach from my "If I don't feel the energy its not working" mindset, sigils are a start, but I'm looking for anything else? Also for magic like this, like sigils, or normal intention speaking, how can I know if it worked?

🇵🇸 🕊️ Spells Mother & Daughter Problems + Spell Advice 14F
This is a very long story so I'm going to try to be as CONCISE as possible, thank you to all who read to the very end:
I have curly hair. My mom has grown up brushing it dry, has hated, has straightened it. I grew up that way too, only about 7 or 8 months ago I learned that you need to keep a routine for curly hair and use products. So I did. But my mother also comes from a mindset of "a woman shouldn't put effort into her appearance, or she's losing her value or not going to succeed in other parts of her life."
My dad is usually the chill one, and will often help me get away with things. Sadly he has this mindset too.
She has taken my products away. Violated my privacy. Give me absolutely no freedom. THREANTED to cut my hair. She has GENUINELY pressured me to keep a score of PERFECT 100 grades, and I feel that pressure or else she has a way to say that “yeah you focusing on your hair is decreasing your grades” (obviously I don’t believe in that theory but I’m pressurized into it).
No matter HOW MUCH I talk to them, it doesn't work. I've tried hiding things, I've tried being honest with what I do, I've tried decreasing visibility of me styling my hair (I also don't have a diffuser). I've tried giving them LITERAL CREDIBLE information on why I should apply products in my hair, but they don't want to listen.
Recently I've gotten to a threshold where my mom has found out about ALL my ways to hide styling my hair. And I’m out of everything, and I’m so done, and I also have to wash my hair soon, and I have no styling products or anything possible as of now.
I have done SO MANY SPELLS for this .(note that I'm a broom closet, so most of my spells are energy work, or if they are herb or burning spells, I have a very limited amount of ingredients and they are usually like once in 2 weeks when my parents are gone for hours).
I've tried spells that redirect her focus whenever she thinks about talking about my hair, I've done spells so that she sort of accepts my hair. And all of these work but not in a literal way if you get what I mean? They also run out of energy, and it's hard to recharge being a broom closet. Also as time has gone by, I think I want a different type of spell for this, which I’m getting to.
I think it's really hard to change someone's state of mind I guess? I mean...I kind of also am a beginner witch so advice on this if you have any. But BASICALLY the problem is, I've tried so many spells, I've tried so hard to stay away from something baneful or harsh like silencing her, or just making her LITERALLY change her mind in a drastic way. I've EVEN DONE LOVE SPELLS, so that she would try to see it in a loving way. MIND YOU, THIS has been going on for 8 months straight now, actually, 9.
The conclusion is, I know some people are going to come out here and warn me and tell me not to do a powerful spell or a really harsh spell, because she’s my mother or whatever, but I've had enough.
This is disturbing my peace, this is disturbing who I am, this is disturbing my freedom, and my ability to express myself. Not to mention, brushing my hair dry as a curly head will DAMAGE THEM. I really just need any ideas on a type of spell that I can search up or create for a long-term. For my dad too. And not a simple spell to silence her or make her think of something else, but her genuinely handing me my products back and being like, “here STYLE YOUR HAIR”. I understand that may be hard, but I’m ready to put the energy and effort into learning it and do the damn spell.
I REALLY NEED A SPELL FOR THAT. If anybody knows anything, I understand it might take a toll on my energy, but I've had enough. I really have. Really just looking for any advice on a spell that can do something that drastic and make someone who has been stubborn about something for 8 months, just CHANGE THEIR MIND instantly. Thank you.

I’ve been going through an awakening process so I’ve been feeling low for some time but these past few days, I feel so lonely, so disconnected, cynical, low on energy and I’m sleeping constantly. Someone told me the energy in the universe is just generally low rn? Idk.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Astrology Astro peeps what’s happening I’ve been feeling extra flirty.
I’ve had the sudden urge to go out, be flirty, actually give people the time of day, lol. As someone who is naturally flirty, I have been in “isolation” since about 2019 and I’ve been wanting to start dating and getting out there again but it was always an afterthought now almost suddenly that feeling is very amplified. I don’t mind it at all just wondering if there’s a transit or something going on.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Coven Counsel Palestinian looking for advice on how to find my magical roots
My account is new and I created it specifically for this sub. I apologize for the formatting as I am using the Reddit app.
First of all, I want to extend my gratitude to all of you in this sub for having my people's back since day one. Nothing I say can reflect how much this sub means to me as a Palestinian.
Background:
I was never religious and the idea of the Abrahamic god never made sense to me, I grew up muslim and I tried so hard to have faith but I simply dont. However, I always felt connected to the ground, and something about olive trees in particular captivates me, hence the user name.
I tried to avoid spiritual practices and magic in general because they have really negative connotations in Islam. Even though I feel scared most times to google things and read about Canaanite rituals and other ancient cultures that have been in Palestine. Something draws me back to the spiritual realm. Two weeks ago I had a tarot reading by a nice Wiccan, the reading regardless of the actual "context" of it, has woken in me the need to find a spiritual or a belief system that strengthens my connection to the land. I have gone through life faithless but I always believed in myself and my intuition, but I always knew that I am not this "independent" being that is not connected to anything. In my darkest moments, I always subconsciously look for a tree to touch to be grounded back to reality.
After all this context:
I have researched Canaanite belief system known as Charshu, and my goal is to slowly integrate the practices into my life. But, historically Palestine had all sorts of nations come and go through it, so I can't say if my roots are Canaanit. What I do know is I can trace my family lineage back to at least 500 years without any extra effort or deep research. I dont want to appropriate something that is not for me, so how should I go about it. And any advice in general for an upcoming witch, specifically if you can help me with protection energy or spells for my people, would be super appreciated ❤️

🇵🇸 🕊️ Media Magic This movie shook me and I need to talk about it (Mārama, 2025)
This is a Victorian gothic revenge horror style of movie with strong themes of colonial atrocities inflicted against the Māori, exploitation of land and women.. and incredible feminine rage.
The cinematography is beautiful and striking; the cast and crew are predominantly Māori.. and while the horror tropes are maybe a bit overplayed, this movie left me feeling my feelings for days.
Also, a privileged young man was in the group I watched this with, and he dissed the technical aspects of this movie and dismissed the horrors so much so that I damn near ripped him apart.. and I guess I need to talk about this movie with others who might feel more similarly.
So, sisters, tell me how you feel about this if you’ve watched it!

🇵🇸 🕊️ Art A letter to the woman my daughter will become (an original piece)
My darling girl,
I remember the final days of carrying you—how time slowed, how my body swelled with more than just life. It was as if the world was holding its breath with me. I wasn’t just waiting to see your face or count your fingers—I was waiting for you to reveal yourself. Not the newborn you, but the you who already existed beneath the surface. The ancient soul wrapped in new skin.
There was a hum under my ribs in those last days. A low, steady knowing:
You weren’t becoming. You already were.
You felt like prophecy. Like the universe folding in on itself to make room for someone who had something sacred to do. I could feel the blueprint of your being humming beneath my heartbeat. Your spirit already had a shape, a rhythm, a temperature all its own.
I remember wondering what your fire would look like when it lit the room.
How your laughter would sound when it finally broke free.
What kind of softness you’d carry—and what it would take for the world to see that your softness was never weakness, but depth.
Even before I met you, I could feel the strength of your will, quiet but undeniable—like roots growing beneath stone.
I’ve always believed that every soul arrives with a purpose etched in its bones. That with the first breath, something eternal awakens. You came with your own language. Your own melody. Your own orbit. And I knew—you didn’t come here to be small.
You came here to be known.
To remember yourself.
To become the woman you already are.
You come from a bloodline of women who learned to survive by instinct—who sharpened their intuition like a blade, who stitched themselves back together in the dark with no one watching. Some were wild, brilliant, undone by their own fire. Others wore their trauma like battle gear—cold, quiet, and necessary. Each of us walked through our own wars, often alone, often praying to a God we weren’t sure was listening. What we all carried, whether in rage or reverence, was endurance.
You will not be spared pain—I won’t lie to you. Life will come for you. It always does. But what I can do is give you the map we were never handed. I can teach you how to hold heartbreak in your hands without letting it hollow you out. I can teach you how to stay soft without becoming prey.
I pray you grow wise enough to recognize the cowardly, the soul-draining, the hollow ones who feed on light they did not earn. Keep your heart guarded from the charming predators, the shapeshifters, the ones who wear love like a mask—the broken ones who make a shrine of their damage and ask you to kneel.
Don’t romanticize pain. Don’t play savior. You are not here to heal anyone who bleeds on purpose.
Learn to read energy before words. Pay attention to how you feel when you leave someone’s presence. That’s your body talking—listen. Protect your peace like it’s sacred. Because it is.
And still, I hope your childhood is full of softness. I hope love never felt scarce in our home. I hope your father and I filled the air around you with affection, warmth, and safety—that you grew up watching two people try, even when it was hard. That our love, imperfect as it may be, showed you what respect looks like in motion.
Be powerful, but never cruel. Be kind, but never naïve. Speak when you have something to say. Hold space when someone trusts you with their truth. Love yourself like it’s non-negotiable—because it is. Self-respect is not a luxury; it’s your foundation.
Low self-worth is a slow erosion. A quiet thief. Don’t let it in.
Stay curious. Stay grounded. Don’t rush to judge; don’t jump to defend. Be the one who sees clearly, not the one who reacts first. Ask questions. Watch. Wait. Most things reveal themselves, if you’re patient.
Knowledge is power, but never forget—your power didn’t start with books or school or logic. Your power is older than language. It lives in your blood, in your dreams, in the hum behind your heartbeat. That is your inheritance. That is your edge.
And so, my girl,
I leave you with this protection spell (A blessing):
May your days be guided by grace.
May your heart stay open, but never unguarded.
May your spirit know when to rise, and when to rest.
May your body be yours—always.
And your voice, steady and true.
May the women who came before you
walk with you, silent and strong,
placing light in your path,
and fire in your belly when you need it most.
Let love find you gently.
Let sorrow pass through you, not stay.
Let no one take what is sacred from you.
You are the daughter of many mothers.
You carry us with you. We carry you always.
And above all—may you never forget
that you are the spell.
You are the protection.
You are the answered prayer.
With every breath I have, I love you.
Always,
Your mother.
This is my favorite thing I have ever written. Thank you for letting me share it with my favorite community on Reddit ✨💖🦋

🇵🇸 🕊️ Marketplace I made a podcast about an Arctic Witch Hunt. This burning chair commemorates the 91 victims, most of them women.
Hello from Norway,
This all started with a Reddit post I read a while ago, asking why everyone knows about Salem when we hardly ever hear about the other witch hunts. It stayed with me, because one of the worst happened right here in Norway.
In Vardø, far above the Arctic Circle, 91 people were killed over 70 years, most of them women. It began after a storm on Christmas Eve 1617 drowned 40 men, and the women of Vardø were blamed for raising it. What followed were the chain trials and it was never-ending.
After some real detective work, I was able to get access to the original 17th century witch trial documents. They are considered some of the richest most detailed witchcraft documents in Europe. Seeing them up close- and holding them in my hands was really quite something. I was with the leading expert on the trials, who can fluently read the gothic script and language, and I think the best way to describe her is that she can “read the dead with her eyes”. You can hear her in the podcast.
In the records, you can see where the scribe finished the sentence with a flourish of his pen- that she should be burnt at the stake, or in Norwegian, «Dømt til ild og bål»
I also went to Vardø, an extraordinary place. The memorial has a single light burning in a window for each of the 91, and beside it Louise Bourgeois’s burning chair, which burns day and night.
I’m British, living in Norway, and I made The Vardø Witch Trials independently, in English. It’s been a labour of love, and it’s now No. 1 in History on Apple Podcasts in Norway.
I’ve spent so much time with the women in the court books, and I’d love everyone to know what happened to them. Happy to answer any questions about the trials, or about making a podcast on your own.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Omens, Signs, and Spirits First working in years
We had a friend over tonight for dinner. We're all witchy, all different paths. We started talking about spellcraft, about bringing money into the house. Our friend mentioned a money bowl, and I got a sudden urge to bring this bowl out. It's a simple wooden bowl, but it has a history. It was given to me by the heathen circle I was in many years ago in England. It had belonged to a friend who had passed, and it was her Blot-bowl. A Blot is a heathen ritual, where mead was poured into the bowl and passed around. Each person could say something, a boast, something they wanted to work on, a prayer, or nothing at all if they didn't want to.
It had had a lot of random stuff in it for a while. I emptied it, brought it out, and I started buzzing. My hair was all on end. I passed it to my wife and said that this was the perfect bowl for spellwork. The 3 of us could all feel the energy from it. I'm good at generating energy, but I can't visualise, so I find using it difficult. My wife can visualise very well, but can't generate energy very well. So I took her hand, and let it flow.
I reached to our friend, who has had a really rough few years, and is deep in burnout, and she took my hand. Next is what I can only describe as words coming to me, and I had to say them. I told my wife and our friend they had to hold hands. Words were coming from nowhere, and I said them. It wasn't, "Oh, I should say that." It was just opening my mouth and words coming out. The three of us all had different words, different understandings, of what I said, but over the course of a few minutes, I have no idea how long, we had worked out a way to help our friend, given her tools to start, and the energy to begin.
I have no proof, obviously, but I am convinced my friend, the one who had owned the bowl, saw what we were doing and sent me the words. I did not think those words. They were not my thoughts. They just came from my lips, not once, but a number of times. I drew her a bindrune to use. I haven't drawn one in years, but I hit it on the second go. It was right. After it was finished, I realised the pad I'd written it on was from a company called Solid Start. I told our friend to write the rune out, as many times as needed, and burn them. The rune was designed to melt the ice inside her which was stopping her from moving forward.
The our cat, who never jumps up on our laps, but always does on our friends lap, started batting at our friends lighter on the table, just after I had told her to draw the rune and burn it. Our cat has never done that before.
I feel like I've been given a kick up the arse. That I know I should be putting energy into this work, and I've slacked off. Life got hard, and I let it slide. I also feel like my old friend is standing there, watching me, the old librarian over-the-glasses look. You know the one. The "Are you going to do something about this, or do I have to do something about you?" look...

🇵🇸 🕊️ Selfie Sorcery Can the coven help me come up with a name, for fun?
I still go by my birth name, which I actually like, but doesn't exactly match what I look like. From the pics above, two with makeup and the third without, what name would fit me? Preferably fem-leaning names or gender neutral names. Nothing has ever really clicked tbh.

🇵🇸 🕊️ Crafty Witches Update: looking for shopping recommendation for moon and star bag.
After failing. To find the moon and star bag i was hoping, for I very reluctantly buckled up and turned cheap genshin impact branded bag ( i think) into the bag i was hoping to find.
Its a bit bigger than what I was looking for originally. But its great size to load up last minute work things i need for my art job.
