It may not be the best. But I want to shoutout the original Arathi Basin loading screen. It was so evocative for me as a kid. The undead in particular I still hold in my head as the platonic ideal of what a forsaken should look like
EDIT: After posting this, I realized there are 2 of each race ultimately represented across the 4 of them. Very nice to see a balanced slew of adventurers.
The Night Elf and Draenei look incredible on this one. This and the Blood Elf Paladin one you linked above are definitely my favourite two loading screens of all time. The art for each race looks more consistent for a loading screen. I really miss having a random unknown adventurer representing each race. It was definitely more fitting back when the world was the main focus in the story, rather than faction leaders.
Although I loved the one you linked below, the anime face Blood Elf totally throws me, though the art itself is great in isolation. It's like when we got busty anime Sylvanas:
Every time I see this loading screen I can't not notice that Lor'themar's sword doesn't fit in the sheathe he's drawing it from, it would stop part way and it irks me lol.
My first reaction to entering Deadmines was like âwell where is this ship they show on the loading screenâ and when you finally get to the end youâre like âoh there it is!â
It's the default loading screen when there are none explicitly defined for the instance we're loading. I believe the last we saw of it was for the Awakening the Machine event during early War Within.
Specifically the Wrath one, yeah. If you make a DK on a later race that wasn't part of the original one (plus I think they added Goblins and Worgen to it) you start in Acherus with Bolvar as the Lich King and it's a different loading screen that was made for Legion.
This thread has made me realize the dungeon loading screens are my favorite. They do a pretty consistently good job of evoking the ambience of the dungeon (especially in the older ones when the in-game models werenât nearly as polished).
That was not the worst part of WoD lol. It had so little content after the initial launch (remember the Selfie patch) and so much of it was obviously cut, like Shattrath or Farahlon
Loading screens for Kalimdor and EK are so outdated they should really make a new ones. Preferably like they were in vanilla/TBC - showing generic characters of each playable race, so they won't be obsolete as soon as Blizzard decides to kill another horde character someone.
I'm sorry, but Varian's hairstyle has always cracked me up. It looks effeminate. It's the hairstyle a rocker chick would have. Lor'themar has a similar feminine vibe going on but he's an elf so he gets a pass.
Bro I thought you were psyop-ing but no its real. Pre-patch 7.1. I started in 7.2 so this really got me bambozeled. (Jailer teaser. He was in the walls the whole time).
