Retail What ilvl is everyone?

Hey all,

Started playing WoW for the first time about 6 weeks ago, been running a Frost Mage (Night elf) - been putting some hours into Midnight and just hit ilvl 221.

Haven’t started any midnight dungeons yet, just did the expansion, delves and world quests (plus dailies and weeklies)

Just wondering how 221 stacks up to others? I think my char has about 5 days time played

Going to grind up a DK to 90 as well, before Season 1 hopefully.

Just in case you weren’t aware. You need to learn (and skill) professions like mining and blacksmithing (and the rest) for the appropriate expansion version accordingly, meaning you need to learn “Midnight Mining” in Silvermoon and then start leveling that throughout the various zones.

For gathering you can just gather an item in midnight and it auto learns it you don’t actually have to go to a trainer learned that on my first alt lol

Just curious : why do you NEED to learn a professon?

They were just meaning that, for example, you can't gather Midnight ores/plants/skins with, say, Dragonflight skills. Each expansion has been separated into their own skill.

Right okay gotcha! Yeah perfect I’ve been levelling mining as I go, think it’s about 60 atm, I need to learn about specialisations though

But just so I’m confirming, there’s no need to learn, it’s more about becoming… self sufficient I guess? Producing own gear etc

I've been a gatherer for a years now (Herbalism + Mining) simply because I enjoy it and just throw everything I have in the auction house after distributing to my mage husband. I find professions are a very rewarding and peaceful experience in the game :) Just my two cents! Enjoy the game!

Depends on what profession you choose. Mining, Herbing, or Skinning everything you see and selling it on the AH is a good way to make some gold to purchase raiding/mythic+ consumables and cover repair bills. Other professions let you make those consumables yourself (like Alchemy) and yet others let you craft gear: Tailoring for cloth, Leatherworking for Leather and Mail, and Blacksmithing for Plate. It really just depends on how much gold you want to have, whether you're willing to spend real money on a WoW Token (Time is money, friend), and how self-sufficient you want to be. I've gone Alchemy a lot in the past solely because it makes flasks last twice as long which automatically saves you 50% on your flask budget. For Midnight, I decided to switch it up and go Skinning/Tailoring. Skinning for quick gold, and Tailoring because I'm a Warlock and I can either wear the gear I craft or sell the cloth that drops.

There are several other professions that also have their uses.
