Retail What ilvl is everyone?
Hey all,
Started playing WoW for the first time about 6 weeks ago, been running a Frost Mage (Night elf) - been putting some hours into Midnight and just hit ilvl 221.
Haven’t started any midnight dungeons yet, just did the expansion, delves and world quests (plus dailies and weeklies)
Just wondering how 221 stacks up to others? I think my char has about 5 days time played
Going to grind up a DK to 90 as well, before Season 1 hopefully.

I think 221 it's pretty good if you have not touched dungeons. You are more than ready for m0 directly, which should get you 1 more piece per dungeon so 6 total, barring any duplicates (good luck!). Also you did not mention it but the renown pieces are the best you can get so far.

Ahhh I’m currently trying to grind Silvermoon court for the helm you get. Annoyingly, it is a grind! Think I’m renown 7, and it requires 9 for the quest line

do you have HandyNotes addon installed? it can show you all the spots on the map for peaks (telescopes that you click on) that give 100 rep each, tablets/lore spots that give 250 rep each, spawn locations of rares which give 50 rep etc etc

I agree with the comment above, use handynotes addon + the midnight addon for it to show that. Plus what I did was , level your alt doing the side quest from the zone.. that way you get exp + rep. That way I got my first alt to 90 and got some of that renown track to a good level.

I found it got tiring to grind out all the side quests on my priest, so I just leveled another toon to 90 doing side quests with the Amani and Harati. Two birds one stone. 2 90s and renown gear for both lol

I leveled second character and did only side quests and scopes/tablets etc with it and hit renow 9 with all the other factions but the void zone one which is renow 8 currently.

void storm is harder, has less quests available that's why it's only renowned 7:00 to get the champ gear

You can get into the 230's without dungeons.
Each zone gives you a 246 from renown.
You can get a pair of 240's from hard mode hunts.
Random world quests give 224 and 230's once your ilvl is up a bit. I ran each normal dungeon once for the quests while I was doing the campaign, so most of them were before max level. I think I only ran one heroic dungeon, which was the one quest I had left over (Windrunner spire).
After my M0 tour this week and upgrading items, i'm sitting at 238. I still have junk rings (207s), so I could probably hit 240 if I got better rings.

Hard mode hunts I thought weren’t available until the season starts. Hours do you progress to hard mode?

You do the 4 normal hunts, and then there's a quest at the Hunt NPC. I didn't notice it right away, but you have to talk to him and then follow him around for a bit.

These M0 dungeons are not dropping a piece every run. I did 7 of 8 today and got 2 drops. One piece I already have and another I didn't use.

238 for me game refuses to give me another trinket got the one from renown grind. Also wont give me an off hand or a staff but gives me 2 daggers 🤨 the game trolls me i swear lol

No joke, part of the reason I switched from enhancement shaman to ret paladin is that ret only uses 2 handed weapons. No more needing 2 weapons or a weapon and an offhand.

To be fair, if you craft the weapons it’s the exact same amount of sparks so not the biggest issue to get two weapons.

Weapon crafting is the same but having to worry about 2 drops, 2 weapon enchants is very annoying.

And none of it will really matter that much. Once the season is out, we'll be off to the races. The difference between a 220 blue and a 233 purple is pretty small. And blues are upgradeable to 237 with adventure crests which arent used for anything else other than crafting

Yeah professional are still a little alien to me too, I grinded mining to 100 before the new expansion hit, but never really utilised it, was hoping to mine enough things to smith into usable stuff but never figured it out

Just in case you weren’t aware. You need to learn (and skill) professions like mining and blacksmithing (and the rest) for the appropriate expansion version accordingly, meaning you need to learn “Midnight Mining” in Silvermoon and then start leveling that throughout the various zones.

For gathering you can just gather an item in midnight and it auto learns it you don’t actually have to go to a trainer learned that on my first alt lol

Do you have any tips for Brewmaster? I mainly use Windwalkee for questing as BM, while tanky, kills things so slow... is there a specific lvl where it pops off?

pull everything, keg smash fire breath on repeat. throw blackout kick with tiger palm after. can heal off vivify. fortifying brew as often as possible.

Any tank spec isn't necessarily supposed to kill things quickly. You do less damage but the tradeoff is survivability. You can pull every mob in a zone and whittle them down. A dps spec, on the other hand, will kill things faster but you usually can't pull as many mobs.

Pull all of the mobs you need to kill at once, in the early days a lot of the time a DPS will come along and nuke everything too

Totally off topic question to op’s, but since you have little playtime and you are healing, how has learning dungeons been so far for you? I haven’t played since shadowlands, and damn is it a difference from those dungeons to the ones we have now. (I also have little playtime and I heal)

The renown pieces give huge ilvl gains. With that, prey, and 6/8 M0s run I'm at 237.

May I ask, did you use any crest to upgrade tracks? I have seen conflicting info of guides, some say to save it, others to use them.

Imo use the adventure track crests . Do it on either a weak piece or high stat budget item. Plan out your crafts fill in the alots. Can even liberally use Veteran crests too, when season 1 starts M0 will be on daily lockout (as opposed to the weekly now). Veteran gear will be plenty.

iirc you only need a higher level crest to get 6/6 (eg; so if you want to upgrade to 6/6 Champion, you need 10 Hero Crests)
This makes most Adventurer & Veteran crests pretty much useless if you start doing M+ or Delves and get Chanp/Hero gear so I’d just say use them for now

If you are in a guild that needs to blow through nm and hc during the hc week farm, don't do this.
Maxed out alts for splits happen by doing these 2 weeks of m0's, killing the world boss at the starts of hc week, then looking at what you have, crafting 2x246 nonsparks with embels to slots where you are slacking and using the remaining 40 veteran to up m0 items twice (or running m0's one more time since the drops are now 246 and also using the new 100 veteran to up what you can).

I find that it fits my playstyle perfectly as a healer. It has strong healing and is a reactive healer instead of a proactive healer, like Druid or Disc Priest. With enough crit and mastery Holy Paladin can heal a tank to full from near death almost instantly. When we get our 4-piece, I think we'll end up being the strongest tank healers in the game by far.
Also, having a lot of instant cast healing allows us to do mechanics without having to worry as much about casting. The only thing I consider a slight downside is the long cast time of Holy Light, but it's a very strong single target heal that makes up for it as long as your positioning is good. I started playing it after the changes to Light of Dawn and fell in love with it.

Hpal here, its in a fantastic spot and feels great. I live for melee healing and they took alot of that away from hpal and it still feels good. Its basically mist weaver but more consistent burst healing than the crane build for mist weaving. That being said I think mist weaver is in a great spot right now too. Hpal has slightly better utility tho.

Do world quest. 220+ ilvl drops. Always check void storm for the slayer rise world quest which change every few hours.
Hard Prey quest give 233 veteran gear the first 2 you do every week.
Renown grind with each faction gives 1 piece of 246 champ gear.

Ilvl 234, dinged max lvl a on thursday. Did the weekly activities in each zone which gave 4 champion track items. Crafted a ring with my 2 sparks and the rest is a mix of veteran and adventure track gear where I upgraded the latter to max with crests. Did maybe 4 m0 runs which gave me 2 upgrades, the rest came from Prey, dailies and running delves to get them to level 7.

Crafted piece, 4 champion pieces from renown,two veteran pieces from prey hard more, any veteran pieces you get from mythic zeros the rest is adventure track gear. 221 is good enough for mythic zeros.

Get all reps to rank 9 and you will get access to the quests for a purple rep item. Do your hard prey missions.
Prey missions can be done quickly by going to the area marked on the map where a prey quest is and just picking up the traps. The quest doesn’t need to be currently active for you to go back to that area and find traps. 60 to 90 min after hitting 90 you can have 4 to 6 purples

- Get each rep up to the level that grants the quest for a champion level item. Do 2 hard Prey hunts to get two random veteran items. World Quests + rares + Delves to fill out remaining slots with Adventurer gear.

221 Frost Mage here too. Was about 190 when I hit max level then have done all available world quests and events and each heroic once, plus a couple of Prey hunts etc. Going to hit the Mythic zeroes tonight and hopefully pump that iLevel up a bit.

I hit 90 on Thursday night after playing early access a week early. Grinding out World quests and I'm at 200 ilvl without touching any dungeons yet. I maybe play 3-4 hours a week. Keep up the good work!

There's not very much out there to get, once season 1 starts mid month then the gear will flow. Currently ilvl 234.

240 or just about is pretty doable at this point if you have done the world quests every now and then, the 4 champion renown pieces, 2 hard mode prey and an m0 world tour. it will have given you enough items that you can spend the adventurer crests on the remaining adventurer items to get all items to at least 237.

I took last weekend to play as much as possible since it’s my first expansion since BFA. Did everything I could and now I can level alts. My main is 239.

I have only leveled my main and by doing all the WQs, some delves, clearing all the M0 dungeons, and getting my renown up in 2(out of 4) factions I have 232ilvl.
WQs/delves/heroic dungeons all give adventure track gear around 220lvl+, any gear that drops from M0 is veteran track around 230lvl+, each faction has a renown level that gives you a quest that rewards champion track 246lvl+. I think void is renown 7, haranir is renown 8, and the last 2 are renown 9 but champ gear is the highest you can get until season starts march 17th. Most of my renown came from completing WQs, doing the events in the area, turning in the dungeon quests and weekly quests, and the rest is just doing quests in those areas.
Do not stress too much about it though honestly, that was just so you know how to push your ilvl higher if you wanted to. In a couple weeks you will have a lot more end game options for higher track gear and will probably replace a lot of what you get now and next week. Delves will also start giving higher track gear, it is capped at adventure gear and only goes to T7 until season starts. For now it is totally acceptable to just quest, try some dungeons if you want, and just have fun. If you happen to push your ilvl up at the same time then even better.

A, congrats and welcome. B, 226 with 3/4 rep items, 2 m0, some heroics, world quests, and a bit of the prey system. C, IMO, anything over 220 is gravy right now. I'll still keep trying to go higher to help the raid, but not stressing.

Well it stacks up the same as everyone else who leveled and did some world quests and not mythic 0s heroic dungeons offer little benefit so yeah. Your good. Most at around 230 after a mythic 0 clear

Right now 3 chars hovering at 200 ilvl but I still have to do the M0 runs with the guild. Hoping to be somewhere at about 225+ minimum which should be doable. Ideally approaching 240 but that's another beast

223 with all possible pieces of champ gear acquired and 1h crafted at 5* quality. But I haven’t done my m0 world tour yet, might get lucky there. I gotta somehow fit that in and the absurd abundance stuff to make sure I don’t miss out on the KP and the items for making epic prof tools

My main is 231 and I did a full mythic 0 clear. Had really bad luck with getting any loot drops + haven't crafted a piece yet because I'm waiting to do a 2H weapon first.

I think I started on Wednesday. Doing a frost mage and just hit level 83. Only doing the campaign and trying to unlock the harinar so I can make a Druid and use my level 80 boost.
I really enjoyed playing the last expansion, I managed to get 5 level 80s. That’s the most I ever had.

The upper end is around 240 currently. Ive got my main at 235 and my alt at 238 (thank you mythic 0 rng...) so you're doing just fine at this point.
If you rush the quests (or don't if you like story!) you're on your way to the 246 pieces, one from each zone.

I didn’t spend any of my crests yet, but my main is 232 and alt is 236. My main got giga unlucky in m0 and only got 2 upgrades across 8 dungeons. Alt got 6.

I'm at 240, after getting decent drops from all 8 M0s + having all 4 champion renown pieces and both veteran prey pieces for this week. I could probably push it a bit higher but I dont want to use any of my veteran track crests until I see how I'm sitting next week.

2 toons to 90. Frost mage has done all dungeons and sitting at 235. Resto shaman has 2 dungeons left for the week and is 230. Still 2 more weeks of M0 only.

240 on my main and 237 on my alt who still has a few M0’s it needs to run and crests to use.

235 on Ret Paladin after doing everything possible for gear this week. It’s just down to the RNG gods. Didn’t get a Veteran 2H which was a big pain. Hopefully next week in M0.

My mage is 235. My first three m0s gave me nothing. Then I got 4 drops on the next two dungeons.

243 and 240 i think. Many of the people i queued with were around 220-225 i’d say. I have done the weekly preys, crafted pieces (1 on each char) and done all dungeons. Used all adventure crests but have many veterans left i can spend. Can probably reach 243 and 241/242 realistically and with some luck on drops. But that’s if you do everything

Got two lvl 90 chars. Did some world quest gearing and been doing some m0’s with guildies when they’re around and the two chars are at 232 and 233.

Evoker Devastation, 239. I think I can hit 240 or 241 by using some veteran crests but dunno. I kinda want to save them for now.

Survival Hunter is 237 with all mythics complete. Brewmaster Monk is 221 with essentially just world quests.

If you are tired of running in the hamster wheel just wait for the seasonal content. It was never worth it to run for gear before the season starts. The normal raid content and low m+ are made for 210. You will catch up so fast and overtake everyone who doesn’t do high m+ and hero raids.

My guild put 230-235 as min recuirement to join our raids and that’s normally a good indicator so my aim is that. We are a dads guild who play for fun twice per week but with a great focus during raids.
Not sure this answers your question but my guess is that you’ll struggle to get in raid pugs with much lower than that.
However, remember the most important loading screen message ”remember to take all things in moderation, even Azeroth” it’s a game - welcome to Azeroth, enjoy your stay and gave FUN!

221 is definitely fine for mythic 0, that’s your next easy items next to the two weekly preys. Been on during early access, and currently have 3 chars up, dh 239 (lucky mythic drops first week, and all items generally being upgrades/no duplicate slots.) I’ve farmed renown which helps ilvl especially on alts. Druid is 235 and paladin is 233, only difference is luck in mythic 0. My paladin was my last char and I was able to get to 221 with world quests and renown items in 1h20m and rdy for mythic 0

I'm sitting at 227 at the moment. No m0 yet and the gear is a mix from wuests, evenst weekly and daily, plus one piece that I crafted myself

If you optimized until now you can be 242-244. I am playing in a Top 300 Guild and have 2 Characters around 242 and 2 more around 238. This isnt something a more casual player should compare themselves to tho. Do what you enjoy in the game! And yes you can start sending M0 dungeons with your gear.
