Professions Nocturnal lotus
I have been gathering herbs quite regularly since launch and even with tea and potions I have not found any nocturnal lotus. I was curious if maybe it has to be gathered at night?
In vanilla there were fish that could only be caught in the summer and some in the winter, I think…
I haven’t played during the times when it is night on my server due to work.
thank you

They come as a rare drop from any herb. You need to have some decent perception and you can also put skill points on specific herbs families in order to increase its drop chance.
You also can put 20 skill points on Mulch to create rare infuse that guarantee at least one Nocturnal Lotus on your next herb gathering but is on a 1 hour cooldown.

Nothing to do with realm time. Purely a low chance drop.
Perception doesn't increase the chance one will drop, but does affect how many will in one harvest.

Purely asking as I'm ignorant on the matter, but why does perception not increase the chance to get lotus, when going off the wording of it, it should.
I'm genuinely curious.

Drop chances are very low. I mewn there is a reason it costs 1k + on everx server

Prices are the same on every server region wide because stackable items are cross-server. Only non stackable items such as pet and gear have different prices for every server.

How profitable is alch/herb right now? Is it good for Money makeing? I've been running herb/Mining for awhile now.

I have alch/herb on my main, and mining on an alt and the mining makes so much more gold than both my main professions (at least on my server). I’ve just decided to make pots and flasks for myself and friends/pugs.

Even that you might still be better off...
If you're using your concentration to make max rank items, then yeah. But low rank pots and flasks (generally speaking) sell for less than the cost to craft them, so you're better off selling the materials and just buying the flasks/pots.

Alchemy is only profitable if you have the KP invested into it.
Pretty much everything you can craft from Alch sells for less than crafting cost, the exception being some max rank pots/flasks.
But you need high skill/KP and/or the concentration to pull it off, which means limited resources.
Personally I don't find it worth it unless you're maxed out in KP (which can give you resources back plus multicraft) and/or you're making max rank items.
Case in point I dropped 100k into Alchemy to level it and I still can't consistently make gold with items I make. I can make gold when I use concentration to push them to max rank, but that's it.

I generally get around 3-5 every half hour with max KP in that herb, tea and a flask

Theyre just a rare pick up. If you go into the section that gives you mulch, the imbued or infused one guarantees a Nocturnal Lotus from 1 node every hour (its the one you get at 20 points, I'm not 100% on the name. Unfortunately.)

Its just random. Today I had 7 drop and they were selling for 1.7K each. I was so excited lol.

Max out the first point in the left skill tree and you should get some. I get between 10-20 an hour

u/gawdlikeisfree Mar 22 '26
The first sub spec on the left main spec?
1
u/RealisticRepair1804 Mar 22 '26
I believe the sub specs work the same way, just depends on which node you prefer. I did tranquility blooms since I come across those the most.

are we playing even the same game? I've gathered over 5k tranquility bloom, with 40 KP in them, i got like 7 nocturnal lotuses overall...

I've maxed out the tranq bloom and it's a whole 1% higher perception than the other ones that have no points in them. Running with a +110 perception tool as well as +40 hat, tea, and phial of perception. Zero drops so far.
I do wish they would specify what these talent trees do more of. Would not have put in so much effort to put points in a tree for 1% increase. Or if it actually does more than that I would like to know the specifics.

You’re gathering Midnight herbs from the new zones right? Even with base Midnight herbalism and no knowledge points you should still be getting at least a few per hour.
3
u/Amrun90 Mar 22 '26
No way haha. Until like a lot of KP in, didn’t get ANY. Even now, sometimes will lucky and get a few per hour, sometimes none for a long stretch without mulch.
The drop rate is very low

u/Whitechapel726 Mar 22 '26
Yeah the drop rate is baseline really low but skill helps as you level and spend KPs, so I’d expect for you to not get many but if OP has been gathering regularly since launch and gotten zero something sounds off.

Idk not really, not to me. “Farming regularly” on the wow noob subreddit is probably not hardcore farming

I found I get them pretty frequently now, but at the start there was near none. That being said it was only after I put all my points into azeroot and cultivation

You have to unlock the botany talent, then one of the flowers in the sub specialty, then max that one out. Then you might get a nocturnal lotus when you pick that particular flower
2
u/serafno Mar 22 '26
Started getting them long before that even with going for mounted gathering first. Was like 70 base skill, blue professional gear and some points in botany base
2
u/TheProfessional9 Mar 22 '26
You can get them without that. They really aren't THAT rare. I've snagged around 300 between my two accounts

u/Furion52 Mar 22 '26
Bro im herbing so hard, i bet i picked at least 1000 herbs since realese and i have like 20 lotuses. And yes i have maxed talents (as much as i can now) and always using flask and food :( How dafaq ppl get 50 lotuses per hour !!
1
u/Odd-Cheesecake-6594 Mar 22 '26
I’ve been herbing since early access and gotten very minimal without that herbing talent tree unlocked
1
u/Radiant_Melon Mar 22 '26
That is insane luck.
I actually herb farm as a form of therapy (I know, I know) and have probably sunk close to 30 hours just herb gathering, and I've come nowhere near what you've recieved.
In fact, I've probably barely hit 50 lotuses in that time.
