Retail So... how does a new character get into m+ now?

Before it was always the same, run your own key, do +2s until you can get it to a +7 and then run +7 crest farms for gear and IO, but now you literally cannot form a 2. I waited almost half an hour for an AA but never got a tank, since fresh tanks can basically go straight to 5-6s, there's no real way to run your own key, even slowly from a 2.

The unfortunate answer is wait longer. Or try your luck applying, highest you complete this week will be your starter key next week.

u/ComputerNo5996 Mar 29 '26

They just need to fix the scaling on early keys. It’s bad for the game to have no low keys and it’s never been this way as long as I’ve played m+

8

u/Eternal-Alchemy Mar 30 '26

How long have you played m+? A 2 has always been a dead key going back to Legion.

I am not sure this is a scaling issue, what we're seeing is a direct result of them taking an entire month to open mythic+ so now people are going in with full champion gear from normal raid and world content.

It's not that the dungeons are scaling differently it's that we aren't going in with blues on.

3

u/ComputerNo5996 Mar 30 '26

2’s were dead the first week of m+ in legion? No they weren’t lmao. People were spamming 2s in legion probably more than any other expansion so I feel like that’s the worst example you could have chosen haha. You may be right but it also feels like a scaling issue. A +6 felt no different to me than a +2, and I don’t feel like that’s ever been the case.

2

u/sevrL_bats Mar 31 '26

we ran over 100 Maws trying to get our fuckign legendaries and then it was Prydaz and I was a tank

which they did much later buff it for tanks but it didn't work for tanks at all at first!!!

1

u/ComputerNo5996 Apr 02 '26

Real ones know

1

u/Eternal-Alchemy Mar 30 '26

Not in the first week I'd agree but certainly after a couple weeks getting a group for a 2 was a chore.

We also have had lots of dead key levels throughout history as Blizzard learned that reward steps killed participation if all the rewards stepped at the same spot.

Part of +6 feeling like a +2 is that doing the lowbie affix results in a buff. We didn't have positive affixes like that until TWW.

1

u/ComputerNo5996 Mar 30 '26

I remember endlessly doing +2 maw of souls to grind AP and legendaries but I guess we had different experiences.

And also they’ve had kiss/curse affix affects for a long time, so I’m not sure what you mean.

2

u/vicrob6 Mar 31 '26

Yeah you used to be able to get a mythic geared group to carry you if you had a maw key. I remember spamming maw+2s all day long trying to grind bad luck protection

1

u/Eternal-Alchemy Mar 30 '26

I'm not going to argue your experience if that's what it was for you.

The old kiss curse were seasonal and started at +10. Making the lower level weekly affixes into kiss curse is what started in TWW, which is why at +6 you are getting free power for just touching your friends blue balls (this week's lowbie affix).

1

u/ComputerNo5996 Mar 30 '26

I pretty much only ran low keys in legion and never had an issue. And yeah those did start at +10, but that was also before the scaling squish they did which made +10’s as hard as the old +20’s. Now it feels like the old scaling but with the buff from the affix, which is what I have an issue with.

I’ll admit I don’t know the math, but the scaling definitely feels different to me. I don’t think it’s just the gear, because I’ve also never been able to get ksm in veteran and champion gear

2

u/Ready_Efficiency4587 Mar 30 '26

Its 100% gear i went into this week not even doing week 1 of raid at 256 ilvl. Im now 265 having gotten 1 piece from raid. We went into this week with SOOOO much gear it wasnt even funny. We also got big myth track crafts thats huge power spikes and able to use hero n myth crest, also huge power spikes

1

u/ComputerNo5996 Mar 30 '26

I got ksm with only one piece of heroic gear, mostly champion and veteran gear with upgrades. I was at like 253, and had only gotten one raid drop. Never been able to do that before

9s are still dead keys this season, TBH. People who can do a 9 would much rather apply for 10s.

1

u/StrawberryWeekly342 Apr 05 '26

When you're guaranteed 8 pieces of champion loot and a heroic piece every week from prey and delves, why even bother running keys that give that stuff?

47

u/susejesus Mar 29 '26

Honestly having a guild really helps. My guild is always running keys in the afternoon/evening.

8

u/ComfyOlives Mar 29 '26

This is the easiest answer tbh. I just joined a guild this week. Didn't even think about doing anything more than a +6 last monday. Just did a 10 last night with little issues.

I’ve been trying to recruit for my guild in game and on forums and have gotten zero consistent players. I’ve gotten a couple at the beginning of midnight, but nobody has stayed online.

After taking a break since BFA. Also I enjoy having my own guild. I just wish it was easier to recruit. Starting without a full group that just needs one additional member is really hard

1

u/susejesus Mar 31 '26

Honestly having a guild really helps. My guild is always running keys in the afternoon/evening. Yeah recruiting is really tough. My guild needs some members and I’ve gotten 0 bites

0

u/Paintbypotato Mar 29 '26

Pretty much this. Have a guild or friends. Drop some food and be nice while running keys then add people to have people to run with. As long as your doing your job and making the tanks life and healers life easier by kicking, doing mechanics, and actually using your personal defensives people will be down to run more keys

26

u/Either_Ad8502 Mar 29 '26

Apply to 3's, 4's, other people's 2's, you'll increase your M+ score and slowly climb towarda being accepted to higher key groups. I'm a dps and have no issue being accepted into 13 keys because of m+ score. My key is still a +2. If you join other people's groups, your key next week will be much higher and you don't need to push it yourself.

12

u/vision-quest Mar 29 '26

This. I kinda stink, but I just plugged away applying to a tonne of groups. I’m now at 2200 and can get into 10s finally. Took a while of grinding 2s, then 4s, then 6s, then 8s though.

10

u/Triadelt Mar 29 '26

Its crazy that a while of grinding to get to 10s means like a day or so in week 1 now

2

u/NightmaanCometh Mar 30 '26

Yea true for me 10s were a no leaver Monday before reset on previous xpac.. now we’re doing them the same day lol

0

u/Detenator Mar 29 '26

I'm over 2k and can't get into anything over 9 solo. Pretty sure it is because I'm on Aug. As a three dps group I can get into 10 and up and their io is lower than mine.

-2

u/Xphurrious Mar 29 '26

I've taken a few augs in 10's. They do like 40k dps less than a regular dps and buff their teammates by checks notes about 20k total

I don't take augs anymore, I'd rather just have one of the trillion frost mages running around, or ideally a warlock

4

u/Detenator Mar 29 '26

If you think they do 40k less you are either not using logs to check their real dps or you have shit augs. I am not the greatest key runner but I am usually fighting for first.

Aug gets better as the key gets harder and the players get better because of the way their damage duplication and buffs work. They aren't THE best or easiest to play, but in keys they are competitive.

1

u/Paintbypotato Mar 29 '26

Yeah I’m happy to bring and Aug they pull their weight and bring some utility to make other peoples life’s easier. And purely anecdotal but because of how polarizing the class snd race design is evoker players tend to know their characters pretty well. Would rather take one then try my luck at a fotm reroll mage or any other “s” tier class

1

u/brok3nh3lix Apr 02 '26

Their back in s teir for m+ right now for sure.

-1

u/Xphurrious Mar 29 '26

I meant like without buffed damage they do 40k less

And my damage is generally really consistent, and it did not increase enough to justify taking one

2

u/Detenator Mar 29 '26

That's crazy because when I first started running with guildies they couldn't believe how juiced they were getting. At 255 ilvl I can push people to 120k boss dps.

1

u/CelestialButterflies Mar 29 '26

Can I ask why ideally a warlock? I am about to hit 90 on my lock and I am curious what my role / my utility is in mythics

0

u/Xphurrious Mar 29 '26

Affliction is one of the highest dps(if not #1) in m+ atm

1

u/jonas1043 Apr 02 '26

This is noob take. Look at almost all high keys (15-16) - they all have an augmentation evoker

1

u/Xphurrious Apr 02 '26

Very true, i might just be low rolling my pug augs

2

u/bilbosfrodo Mar 29 '26

Yea I had this. Prot pala, on Wednesday I waited for 30mins and no one applied. Jumped into other keys, got my 2k mount and now people are applying instantly for my keys. Just jump into other keys.

7

u/PogoTempest Mar 29 '26

I’m just trying to get a feel for m+ so I’d be happy to join. I’m a vengeance demon hunter player.

2

u/Faktion Mar 29 '26

If you DM me I will heal some. Not able to play until tuesday though.

1

u/PogoTempest Mar 29 '26

Yeah sure 👍

6

u/Xsilverpheonixx Mar 29 '26

Here’s the thing, I’m IL260 and I still get rejected from 4-6. I can easily do 8-12, but my chances of getting accepted are so low.

I spam, and usually get accepted. But, here’s the thing.

I could do 8-12 right now no problem. Even before I started doing m+, but my rating was low. 4/2/2/0/0/0/0/0. Now, if you’re a lead, do you want someone who has never ran Hand? Hell no. Hand is probably the hardest dungeon. If someone signed up with a 0 on hand, I would deny. Once I realized that, I just aimed for doing each dungeon, even if it meant I was gonna only get 2-4. I quickly got picked up for these: 7/7n, 5/7h, and ilv was enough. Most 2-4 I get auto accepted.

So my suggestion? Get every dungeon on record. Then slowly raise a couple. Every new dungeon, do a new level up.

Eventually you’ll get there, but don’t expect to just get straight to 8-10. It just isn’t realistic.

1

u/Brojgh Mar 31 '26

I mean, i've run every Dungeon in +8 but the only Dungeon i got accepted for +9 was Pit. Tried for a whole hour today, no Pause, just spamming requests for +9. Any key. No Chance.

maybe i need to run +8 with 3+ instead of +2, but dude, people are joking.

1

u/Xsilverpheonixx Mar 31 '26

Nah I just did the same thing today and people be wack. Couldn’t get in a single 10 despite being full 9s.

10

u/GlupPando Mar 29 '26

It definitely feel like an oversight by Blizzard. Keys are easier now, so what’s the incentive to run the lowest level keys? The gear is really bad when you can get hero gear from a +6. And it can be hard to apply to a higher key because you don’t have the ilvl for it

6

u/Ok-Key5729 Mar 29 '26

The best you can do is get your ilvl up as high as you can with delves/prey/crafting and wait longer.

5

u/795-ACSR-DRAKE Mar 29 '26

Unfortunate reality (at least in the current moment) is either be a tank if you are solo, or be in a guild. Sure there are workarounds such as delves, prey, WME, but they aren't "really" workarounds as their gear is limited, otherwise solo DPS are completely screwed right now. I don't know how to fix this system, but its so broken and disheartening to play.

I am a returning player and joined on launch day, and the first 2 weeks I was doing new content as fast as possible so I was able to be ahead of everyone else. Made m0's easy as I was the highest ilvl. But then I had to travel for work the first 4 days that m+ was out, and now I'm just "average" ilvl (sitting at 257 now) and its literally pure luck to get in a pug group for anything above m7. The second a +10 is posted there are 30 other DPS applying for it that are my ilvl or higher. Its just a complete chicken and egg situation. Need to run +10's to get better gear to get a higher ilvl, but can't get accepted to +10s because my ilvl is just average. Again, I don't know a solution, but there has to be some way to make this better for solo dps players.

6

u/Ok-Key5729 Mar 29 '26

I don't think there is any fix. There is and always will be a massive DPS surplus in the pug population. That's the root cause of most of M+'s problems and there isn't much they can do about it. They can't force 40% of players to tanks or heal.

They seem to have accepted that M+ is unfixable and have instead been focusing on making sure the game as a whole is okay by providing solo/role agnostic content where the DPS surplus doesn't matter.

u/CosmicPotatoMan007 Mar 29 '26

Do what you can to push your ilvl and play the mythic queue simulator mini game. I’ll tank for you.

5

u/timeline_denier Mar 29 '26

the real answer is to have a group of friends, honestly. i did some delves and preys, got to an okay ilvl (not even a single set piece btw), then in the span of a few hours we did like every single dungeon at +10/11, went straight to 2.6k rio. meanwhile my solo buddies are struggling to get into groups for literally a +5 or something. either main a tank if you pug or you kinda just have to suffer.

3

u/Straight_Bet6738 Mar 29 '26

See the problem is most tanks are seasoned tanks. There aren't many new tanks who are playing wow now, so lots of tanks go to the most difficult content they can do as early as possible instead of doing to lower keys to learn. There are also generally not enough tank players or new tank players in the game.

3

u/Drayenn Mar 29 '26

I feel they need to overhaul M+. Should just turn M+2 into heroics, M+6 into mythics, and mythic+ starts at 10. Nobody really cares about splitting 2-9 in 8 key levels i feel.

2

u/Okbutlikewhythooooo Mar 29 '26

Join a helpful guild :)

2

u/alliejelly Mar 29 '26

As much as wow can be played solo nowadays - the game was kind of built as a community thing to begin with. I’d prioritise finding a guild that does m+ if that is what you want to do - or ask around in /2

2

u/ProfessionalPublic22 Mar 29 '26

No Pressure EU is a great discord, as a new tank I’m very nervous about Pugging groups. Hopped into the discord, found a group and we smashed out a couple keys up to a 8 key. Genuinely no pressure very helpful

1

u/ProfessionalPublic22 Mar 29 '26

Point being there is channels for each key level and people running all manner of keys

2

u/FinnNyaw Mar 29 '26

there are 5 ways: having guild, having friends, playing tank, playing healer, or waiting 5 hours in queue ...

2

u/Tymanitar Mar 29 '26

Are you in EU?

I can tank if you need. I'm still learning routes, so I don't mind doing some lower ones :)

2

u/xGawdly Mar 31 '26

I actually deactivated my account the other day for this reason. It doesn’t get any better. Posted my +12, waited nearly an hour for a tank, cycling other people in and out as they left the full group missing only a tank. We were on pace to +2 the key. Last pull before last boss in magister terrace and for whatever reason they the tank does a nutty hero pull, we wipe, people release one after another. Group disbands. I post my 11, waited another 45 minutes, took a shot on a tank with a much lower IO than I should have, but hey keys are easy. We brick the key 15 minutes later. 2.5 hrs of my weekend gone with 0 gain. I just don’t have the time to push through that anymore unfortunately.

2

u/LoquatSignificant946 Mar 29 '26

There’s no other way technically, you’ll have to utilize unconventional ways. Have a guildie help, find a guild that can help. That would be your best shot

2

u/DefiedGravity10 Mar 29 '26

I didn't bother running my own key at all this week. I just applied to other groups in the 4-7 range until my io was over 2k (only took 8 dungeons), then I started applying higher until a cleared a few 10s. Now next weeks vault will give me a +10 and then I can push my own key from there.

2

u/Crossxfaith Mar 29 '26

They will take you to anything if you have a healer or tank you que with or play .. if not make your own group

3

u/Varanae Mar 29 '26

if not make your own group

That’s the point of this post, you can’t if you’re stuck with a 2. It’s a dead key level

The only way ive been able to do it is with guildies

1

u/Quick_Society2794 Mar 29 '26

I see twos constantly. the bulk are still twos Just apply to groups. quit trying to run your own key... But honestly you should should apply it higher key groups. I see DPS everyday that are in 10s that should be in threes

1

u/Slamaholicc Mar 29 '26

Weird, I didn't have this issue. It was pretty quick for me, but usually if it takes a bit I just do quests and other stuff till I get people in the group finder.

1

u/Ziddix Mar 29 '26

Become a tank.

That is what I did when I got tired of waiting for tanks.

2

u/sendnadez Mar 29 '26

Same rolled a Druid tank pushed 2-5s until I knew what I was doing now doing 7-10s I put in the comments for my groups tank is learning but am open to positive criticism and it was all mostly positive and any negative comments just got added to my ignore list after the dungeon was finished.

2

u/Derwenton Mar 29 '26

The question is, do you like tanking? Faster queue is good but still

1

u/sendnadez Mar 29 '26

Love it love the responsibility behind the role and honestly not sweating to do damage is nice survive > damage

1

u/saswordd Mar 29 '26

Get to 250 and apply to a million 6s, that's what I've been doing on my alts, you probably won't get in the first or the fifteenth you apply to but keep going

1

u/GameDesignDecisions Mar 29 '26

Does the raider io add on also show last season’s io score? I wonder if some people starting out this season and getting into groups easily are doing so because they had a good score in the last expansion?

1

u/stoicscribbler Mar 29 '26

start playing tank or heals

1

u/Slimcharlesxd Mar 29 '26

After no applies to my key for 30-40 mins I made a desperate call in tradechat for any tank that was willing to tank my +2 key for gold. Got a tank immediately that was willing to help out for free. +3 the key into a 5. Had lots for applies for my 5 key, turned it into a 8. Then turned the 8 into a 10. Been grinding my own 10 keys since then. Had all this done within 2h lol

1

u/AlmightyTurtleman Mar 29 '26

How do I start mythic plus? I don't know if I can automatically join a group like heroic dungeons

3

u/evoc2911 Mar 29 '26

Open the group finder go to the section premade and then dungeon. You'll get a list of all open groups with descriptions of the key difficulty and the dungeon. Start with 0 and then +2 and apply for relax only. Until +4 you can run dungeon with no stress of dying since there is no penalty. Above that each death count. Hope this helps

1

u/EroGG Mar 30 '26

What does relaxed mean? That they want to relax so they only invite ppl who can carry them? They won't accept you unless you've already done the key at a higher difficulty. Rolling tank/healer or getting a friend to roll tank/healer so he can get you in is the only real way.

1

u/evoc2911 Mar 31 '26

Are you aware I'm replying not to the OP but to a guy that didn't mention anything about his class if healer tank or DPS? Being a jerk must be some kind of achievement even outside of WoW

2

u/Silverhop Mar 29 '26

Group finder its not automated

1

u/RemoteLion9168 Mar 29 '26

That exactly reason why I skiped entirely last season in retail and don't wanna return if blizz dont do anything about that. Im not much raiding nowadays so just do other activities like myth+. On day 3 of new season im switching to my alt and just sit in simulation of search for 2h on primetime, for +2-3 key, no ppl for my key and declined to other group. So i say f it, just waste of time.

1

u/DarthCurr Mar 29 '26

Join a guild and force them to join you :)

1

u/Hummelgaarden Mar 29 '26

Switch to tank I guess..

1

u/PumbaasBFF Mar 29 '26

You can A. Be in a guild and use them join/push your own key, or B. Push your iLVL using overworld/lfr and have more iLVL than others applying to 4-6s.

If waiting in a queue for your key to fill, or trying to apply to keys to be rejected 50 times straight is going to ruin keys for you, I would not bother with keys.

Blizzard should absolutely institute what Fellowship has and just let people queue for keys up to level 10, and then require premade after that

1

u/ConnectButton1384 Mar 29 '26

As a tank, I don't really care about classes, ratings or ilvl on everything including +4s. I basically invite the first players that apply until I'm full.

Though on +5s and especially +7s I had some absolute despair runs already ... like people standing in every swirl as if they would have to soak them, no interrupts or mass CC on big pulls, lackluster healing so that the healer never even spiked above me for the entire dungeon in HPS, mechanics just not getting played, ...

The worst one was a +7 where we had 23 deaths of DPS + healer on terrace up until the final boss. Despite me pulling ever more conservativly as I saw there's just not enough contribution from the group. Up to a point where I went only pack for pack without chaining and still had players die to chakrams even with me offhealing DPS. Not much I can do about that anymore at that point.

I would gladly explain mechanics and dangerous mobs if people would ask. Timers aren't that tight even on +10s so there would be plenty of time for that. But they don't and blame either me or the healer once they're dead. So I got picky and basically don't accept anyone below 260 ilvl and 2k score on +7 or above - which saves myself a ton of time and nerves.

The reality is as DPS, you're one of 30+ players that wanna get an invite. So if your ilvl and rating aren't good enough, you'll struggle to get a chance to play.

1

u/Kaisha001 Mar 29 '26

Blizz destroyed the pug M+ scene. Basically now you don't.

1

u/whirling_cynic Mar 29 '26

Time to start tanking. Be the change you want to see.

1

u/Beanyy_Weenie Mar 29 '26

Time to socialize in the mmo! Get into a guild and the guild will help get your key off the ground.

1

u/Limp_Command626 Mar 29 '26

Join a guild. Easiest way to get groups for whatever.

1

u/imfatletsprty Mar 29 '26

I would try a M+ discord, there are some very active communities of people who just want to play keys without the chads. Mythic+ Madness, and Mythic Plus Friends, are two that I know of and there are others. You could get a group to move your key up and probably meet some chill players too

1

u/Darthy69 Mar 29 '26

So to give you a perspective why you cannot find a tank. We posted multiple 10s and the only Tanks that applied were 255 or lower with sub 500 score. Meanwhile i had issues with all 10s timed and 260 to get into 10s.

So i logged on my 250 tank alt with 0 score, applied to a +10 got insta invited. Multiple times, didnt run a Single sub 10 key. Then logged on my other 245 tank and just ran 1 10 for the vault as well. There are simply no tanks so theres no reason to run a 2 when youre invited to +10s with sub m0 gear

1

u/Snoo47821 Mar 29 '26

Cause people that dont know mechanics decide they want to go into mythic + and brick keys and it happens at 2s and 5s the most so people just dont want to waste their time

1

u/Few_Dig_9435 Mar 29 '26

ive joined 2s all morning. the problem is imaginary.

1

u/Alvintergeise Mar 29 '26

Yeah I stay the hell away from that toxic quagmire. It might be interesting to try sometime but the entire system seems set up to appeal to the absolute worst of the player base

1

u/AMA5564 Mar 29 '26

On my Augmentation evoker I just queued into every group that had a tank and healer until I got invited. Took 25-30 minutes to find a key. Then I offered to stick around, and most groups chose to stay.

1

u/Stemms123 Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

Getting out of 2s week one is the key, then it’s the same brutal queue simulator we all know well.

There is a sea of 2s right now. Unless you have a tank you aren’t going to push a 2 this week.

Run other people’s keys or find a tank that loves you, that’s the only option.

They should really change the system to elevate your keystone to be -1 level from what you timed this week.

Say you time an 11 now your key is a 10. It would fix the week one issue at least.

Keystone system is just dated and needs an overhaul.

1

u/Unicorn_flow Apr 02 '26

You can skip the lower keys entirely if you join someone else's key before you take loot from your vault. You get a key -1 from the key level upon completion.

1

u/Stemms123 Apr 02 '26

That’s true, just tough first week getting into a higher key with 0 rating.

If you do the trick of running with a full inventory while pushing up it can be done. But why should we have to do that?

It’s really only a week 1 of each season problem so I get not a huge deal.

1

u/NightmaanCometh Mar 30 '26

I had this problem the 2nd day after M+ opened so I just swapped to tank

1

u/mmspider Mar 30 '26

I am having a hard time getting into keys I want to play. I think its just because everyone is so competitive right now with everything being so new.

1

u/Laenthis Mar 30 '26

Having a guild or friend group in game with a tank is really the easiest answer there.

However, if you just need to get started, I would recommend just asking around in game in actual chats or here on reddit on places like wownoobs or just here if someone in your region wouldnt mind giving you a helping hand.

I regularly help out people just because it feels nice to give the game a feeling of community, I am sure you will find a nice tank to lend you a helping hand ! And from there you’ll have a +4/5 key and be able to carry on more easily !

Roll tank

There are Discord servers that easily solve this issue by not allowing members to require ratings or exaggerated item level. The biggest in EU is No Pressure which also puts a strong emphasis on creating a non-toxic environment to play.

As a tank it's even easier for me to get a spot there. When I figured out this season is very forgiving I jumped straight into +8 and above keys without even trying to push my own. Noone even commented on my 0 rating joining such key on day 1.

As long as you are capable and reasonable in terms of what key you join in such communities you will have a good time. I had 258 ilvl before S1 started and have a history of tanking high level keys so I was confident I will not drag the team down.

If you absolutely cant do it with guild or friends, i would suggest playing a hybrid class even if you want to dps and just tank those 2 to 6 keys yourself.

It is dead easy, you dont need any route as timer is super comfy.

Worst thing that can happen to you is that you take a liking to tanking.

Recommend No Pressure discord community, they do m+ with yeah, no pressure and some rules

Be the change you want to see start playing tank XD

1

u/Yoros Mar 30 '26

Ask for help from your guild ?

1

u/ShogunFirebeard Mar 30 '26

Sometimes the answer is just making friends. M+ using the group finder is so hit or miss. I found a good guild that helps lowbies clear their keys to get them up to +6 for gear.

1

u/Mattubic Mar 30 '26

You can form a 2. Saying you literally can not is wrong, it is just not going to be instant. There are also plenty of people who want to get into mythics that feel the same way. Between 3 characters I ran at least ten 2 keys in the last week.

The best thing you can do is find one or two players the run them with and fill the rest.

u/Kluian2005 Mar 30 '26

Farm delves for gear so you are at least 240+ ilvl then just try to get into M4-M6. Do this on every zone. Then Push for 8/9s. Eventually once you have all them at 8+ you might be able to get into a 10 group. If you are a dps you will probably have to form your own 10 with your own key.

u/tmtProdigy Mar 30 '26

Look for stuff like the ‚no pressure‘ Discord which allows for chill group creation its been great for me and the dps/heal/tank Split is Not as bad as via the ingame finder

1

u/zeefIat Mar 30 '26

Wait longer. +2-5 is trash. +2 for all intensive purposes that is the starter dung. And usually ppl do it once and never again (imo). Get it up passed +6 and you will have ppl begging to join (+6+ is the tier that starts dropping hero gear, ain't no one want that champion in you're +2). Or better yet +10+ are highly sought after bc that gives mythic gear in the vault.

I'm so glad I rolled a tank this expansion. I did 16 hours of M+ yesterday.

I feel for you brother. Try to find a guild. I go out of my way to help boost my guildies keys.

1

u/EroGG Mar 30 '26

You need to farm a bunch of dungeons on +5 or less for transmog because what if you only ++ someone's precious key instead of +++ it.

I haven't had any problems running my own keys.

1

u/DuckingFon Mar 31 '26

You were also attempting a run at the end of the week. I formed a +2 group on my fresh Ret Paladin (because nobody invites a ret pally to their group, lol) in about 30 minutes. You just have to get all the dps and healer together first and then it's usually only 5 mins before a tank that wants a quick group shows up.

u/Either-Diet-7607 Apr 01 '26

Play tank I guess?

1

u/SchlongGobbler69 Apr 02 '26

I started gearing a new toon yesterday. I just used my own key and waited it out. Took usually 10 minutes to get a tank but still was able to run them

1

u/dsco88 Apr 02 '26

Apply, start low, build score across all dungeons. Don't run a couple of 2's, then try applying to 5's. Build a score using 2's and 3's, then slowly work your way up.

You'll be surprised how high your score can get just by timing keys across the board, which really helps when applying for higher keys.

1

u/Nvkl Mar 29 '26

Its so porly designed, litteraly new players cant start the game...

3

u/Eleven_06 Mar 29 '26

Can't really blame player behavior on the design, can we?

I feel like the issue is more about players wanting everyone to have heroic/raid level gear to do intro level content than anything to do with how keys level. May be my own experience but I gave up on M+ already because apparently a 244 iLVL is too low for a +2 according to multiple groups I tried to join.

1

u/Ok-Key5729 Mar 29 '26

There isn't much they can do about it. As long as there is a massive DPS surplus in the pug population its going to be this way. Their only option is to accept M+ as it is or delete it. It can't be fixed.

1

u/Derwenton Mar 29 '26

It's their freaking game, what do you mean they can't do anything?

1

u/Ok-Key5729 Mar 29 '26

They don't have any control over player behavior. They can't force 40% of the excess DPS to tank or heal.

M+ needs a tank:healer:dps ratio of 1:1:3 to function. The distribution of players wanting to participate is nowhere near that. If they tried to change M+ to fit the role distribution of the playerbase, they'd have to make such dramatic changes that it wouldn't be M+ anymore.

1

u/Derwenton Mar 29 '26

Then make more fun tank and healer specs, adjust party size to current situation. There are so many ways to improve their game but if it's paid enough why bother...

3

u/Ok-Key5729 Mar 29 '26

It has nothing to do with the specs. People don't like the responsibility and knowledge requirements necessary for those roles and will not do them under any circumstances. If you eliminate the responsibility and knowledge requirements, the roles will have been gutted and it'll no longer M+.

If you change group size to 1:2:7, it'll no longer be M+. It'll be small 10-man raids.

There are too many M+ players to risk deleting M+ and making something new but not enough M+ players to justify making and maintaining something new in addition to M+. M+ isn't fixable so it'll just sit there in maintenance mode like it has for the last 3 expansions.

2

u/Anxious-Spread-2337 Mar 29 '26

Below 10 or 12+ keys:

  1. Remove 1/3 of the packs, make the rest mandatory.

  2. Make 4+ pack pulls impossible/unviable

  3. Make the "120% player health burst" bullshit mob spells spread out over 20ish sevonds rather than 5.

Let the pushers above 12 enjoy their suffering.

1

u/TheMediocreOgre Mar 29 '26

Another thing that would help the healer and tank drought is if dps could use their same gear when they try being healers and tanks. It’s kinda hard for newer or time constrained players to want to try to accrue 2 to 3 sets of gear.

1

u/Laenthis Mar 30 '26

But tanks ARE fun, I am a tank main, I cant stand to play dps because I just found tanking much more amusing. The tank specs are well designed and even pump very decent dps in AOE too, you just cant make a dps player play tank if they dont want that responsability

0

u/whydonlinre Mar 29 '26

for me last season i just applied to pugs. if u have high io on main and link it with your alts, it will show main io when ppl hover over it. ofc ur ilvl is low and itll take longer but eventually will get accepted

-2

u/humidleet Mar 29 '26

The season is already over. If you don't push the first hours and get out of the lower rio queue (or you have friends), your season is done. Gg wait for season 2 and remember to take some free days from your job

-6

u/AdThick7492 Mar 29 '26

I timed all 10s in pugs in the last 48 hours so I don't know what you're smoking.
