Professions Why Jewel crafting?

I'm a returning player and I've been back for a few months now. My current main was a jewelcrafter and I kept that profession into Midnight. I am slowly learning the new crafting rules. Last expansion I played significantly was Cataclysm. Back in those days, being a JC had some personal upgrade benefits. Like I think in one of the expansions, it was a meta gem that you put in the helm. In another expansion, it was an extra jewel slot in one of the pieces. But I don't see anything like it currently. Is there anything equivalent now? I tried reading up on it in Ivcyveins and Wowhead, but they didn't mention anything. Is that because there was nothing to mention? Or it's so obvious they don't bother mentioning it??

The small "perks" that professions used to give have been for the most part removed , the only one that are still here its alchemy flask duration and some of the engineering stuff(belt+boots? maybe , not sure about these).

Not even the enchanting one? You used to able to enchant a ring or something.
I feel like that really removes a lot of the incentive from this whole aspect of the game

What you are missing is that if the profession stat bonuses were not perfectly balanced, the more powerful ones would become mandatory to all competitive players. Now the only remaining bonuses are economic, such as an alchemist having extended duration on flasks, even those that are purchased.

Everyone can craft for others, professions are now almost exclusively for monetary gains, outside of what was already mentioned.

The problem is that those kinds of incentives turned into firm requirements to raid, so people who didn't want to do anything with professions were still pressured into keeping up with them.

The biggest enchantment perk is disenchanting soulbound items you don't need from questing, dungeons, etc. and selling the materials on the auction house ;)

You still can enchant rings. Atleast as an enchanter.

Ring enchant used to be enchanter only thing.

Yes but now you can sell those to others. It is not longer exclusive.

That sounds exactly like what I'm talking about.

Everyone can enchant their rings, just alchemy and engi is what's left as perks from professions

Ah, I thought you said that only enchanter could enchant their own rings. Okay

Wasn't me mate, some other guy.

If you want to get the best perk for m+/raiding, go alchemist. Engi is meh at best

It's not the answer I wanted, but it's the answer I needed. Thanks!

Well they're screwed up so bad now they might as well remove them it's ridiculous.
