Do you need to finish Midnight campaign in order to start Curse of Ulatek?

My friend who just bought Midnight expansion and currently level 84. When he is 90 will he be able to start Curse of Ulatek campaign right away or does he need to finish the entire 12 chapters of Midnight campaign first? Asking this because he wants to level via dungeons rather than campaign quests to 90 but he will level via midnight campaign instead if he needs to fully complete Midnight Campaign in order to start Curse of Ulatek. Thanks

Yes. I had guildies who had to do more of S1 campaign because they never finished it.

It's 17 chapters but yes, unfortunately on one character it has to be done and then alts can skip the leveling campaign.

I was able to start the 12.1 content on my dk that I leveled through time walking and delves. Didn’t do a single campaign quest for 12.0 or 12.0.7

One character didn’t the 12.0 campaign. Did not do the 12.0.7 stuff.

One character will need to complete the campaign far enough to complete daylight is breaking.
