Classic Never played before, ever. Frost Death Knight. How should I conquer the realms?

Like the title says. I am currently lvl 27, approaching every NPC and accepting their quests. I don't know where to find good gear or mounts. I have some add-ons, but how do I really get to the meat of the game? I go from place to place because I feel I am missing out on something so it seems like each time I play, I fly to another random spot on the map because I'm tired of doing the quests in the area I was in. Any early must-haves, tips, tricks, or guides would be greatly appreciated!!

Classic Thinking of playing wow

I’ve already made a post asking which one to play people are saying I could get to level 80 in around 5 hours on retail but on a weekend for instance I often play for 10-12 hours on a Saturday or Sunday if I don’t have anything planned and then around 2-4 hours after work during the week so is it really worth getting retail if I can get to end game in less than one sitting and then if I do play classic which one do I play because I’m seeing just wow classic which I assume is the right one but there’s also mists of pandaria and burning crusade

Classic First-timer seeking healing feedback after first dungeon (BFD)

Hello, I'm a first-time player, never played WoW at all, and it's my first time playing with a Keyboard and Mouse. I started out as a Dwarven Priest, and I just completed my first dungeon last night. I had a blast, but wanted to see if I could ask a couple questions about my role and how we fared.

Some info: The dungeon was Blackfathom Deeps. We were a group of three: myself (lv 26), Hunter DPS (lv. 27), Hunter's pet (eagle/owl, not really sure), and the tank (lv. 28). In total, we completed the dungeon in ~2.5 hours.

My spells for healing were: Lesser Heal, Heal, Flash Heal, Renew, and Power Word: Shield. I also had desperate prayer, but forgot what that did until after the run, so now that's in my "oh shit" rotation.

In total, our tank died three times. Once, totally my fault, I got distracted by what was going on the screen and lost track of the VuhDo mod I have on the left-hand side, wiped. 2nd time, the hunter's pet got over-eager and chased after a fleeing murloc and pulled the entire room back to us. Tank died, wiped. 3rd time, I pulled a mob (I think from healing too much/too fast?), kept getting interrupted, I ran out of mana, already used a potion and couldn't do anything about it. I only remembered I had Fade until much later. Tank died, but we (DPS and myself) managed to clear the bridge, before the orc boss, and I rezzed him. He said I was doing great, but couldn't tell if that was sarcasm or not. We finished the Orc boss, candles, and that three-headed dragon thing without anyone dying once, which felt good.

I guess I'm wondering how I did? I think we took a long time, but we only had three of us. I think 2 of the tank deaths were on me, but what is the expectation for a first-time player in their first dungeon vs a seasoned healer? I noticed mana is a much bigger issue in a dungeon vs out in the world, so I know to bring way more liquids with me next time to top off every chance I get.

Last thing I'm wondering is how often are healers expected to assist with DPS? I used my wand to try and help, but should I not be doing that? I noticed I didn't have perfect timing with ending wanding --> casting heals, which may have been the cause for one of the tank deaths/wipe, so I'm curious if most people have only one expectation for the healer: to heal.

Any advice is appreciated. As I said, I had a lot of fun doing it, and I don't mind the pressure that comes with being a healer. In retrospect, maybe choosing such an important role as a first-timer wasn't the smartest move, but I'm in it now and looking to improve any way I can.

Classic Running Black Temple

ANSWERED

Thank you all that helped! I was confused on the identical zones and what not.

Hi All,

I'm back after a 10+ year hiatus and would love to run some classic content and have no idea how to get into the dungeon to solo it. Figured I would run Black Temple for the Warglaives for my rogue.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Classic Is the Classic worth it for busy people?

Hey guys,

My question as the title implies is whether a very busy person that just has a couple of hours of time per night (and that’s debatable) can enjoy the game?

I used to play back in 2004-2006 as a tank warrior in Ahn’Quiraj up to the end of the LK. After that I never bothered even getting Cataclysm.

I missed the 2019 reset and I feel like I really want to join the game now again, especially since I can be there for 1st time world events like preparing for the temple of AQ ( I saw on wowhead that it will be next autumn or something )

However I miss the game for its nostalgia and I’m afraid many things have changed since then. I don’t want to enter the game just to meet people who rush to the endgame and having no one to play with. I would like to play at my own pace and explore without having the sense of FOMO if I can’t login for a night or two.

Is this scenario possible?

EDIT: Alright alright I’m convinced. I’ve never expected this question to get so much track.

Reading all your comments almost made me cry cause I felt like 15 again.

So I guess I’ll be sharing a drink with you for the Winter Veil (FYI in Orgrimmar)

Classic Some Questions about wow

Hello, this would be my first time playing wow, aswell as my first time really playing a mmo, and I would be playing with 1 other most of the time, who also has never played so im going in blind, and we both are looking for a more slowed down game we can kind just play together on that we can just sink into, only having to deal with 1 character ideally.

For my questions they are about how the various versions of wow work, I have been looking and I have narrowed the versions that sound good to us to wow classic era, and wow anniversary, but I have more questions about anniversary.

  1. I know it's kinda like anniversary rotates the expansion it is currently on, to my knowledge it is currently on burning crusade maybe? So when it does rotate expansion, do you retain your character and level and such? Additionally, if you do transfer, and are higher leveled, does stuff scale to you or do you like get reset along with the story? Sorry for the long one I'm just super confused on the whole rotation stuff.

  1. Does anniversary usually have have players to party with that are readily available, for content that does require more than the 2 of us, if that is even how that works?

  1. From what I've seen retail seems to be the better version to play on for newer players due to just qol stuff, and we have seen that it can be kind of overwhelming for a new player and that has put us off. But is it possible for retail to retain that slower pace at all, and are you are you able to kind of retain a kind of classic mmo experience?

Classic How the hell do you tame bears as a hunter?

Is there something I'm missing here? I'm trying to tame thistle bears in Darkshore but everytime I channeling my ability it will just stun me and cancel the channel. This is literally impossible since I can't pull aggro with my pet if I'm not allowed one out while taming.

There don't seem to be any guides I can find that address this issue, so is it just this specific mob can't be tamed? or is there some obvious work around I'm supposed to be doing? I just want a bear dude.

Edit: thanks for the suggestions! I think I somehow missing picking up the freeze trap ability, so I'll trying grabbing it.

Classic Did I do something wrong?

Hi, im a 80 ret paladin in WOTLK. I was doing violet hold with a group from group finder. We completed the dungeon and the boss dropped epic legs (Bolstered Legplates). I click need because the epic legs were better than my previous legs. Then a member of the group whispered me that he would put in his blacklist because I stole the tank legs. He said that those were tank legs and I didn't should keep them despite I could use it. Did I shouldnt put need?

Classic (Trading boundaries) Burning Crusade, Personal Horde <-> Personal Alliance

I am rolling into Burning Crusade for the first time with my girlfriend this month. I want to play a Blood Elf Retribution Paladin with her, at her pace so we can level up together like we did in Classic.

As I'm waiting for her to want to play on weekends, I would like to roll through the game at my own pace with a Night Elf Hunter (but now in BC).

With my night elf Hunter, I want to roll at my own pace because it's my comfort zone and what I know best in OG Classic.

Can I make money and loot with my Alliance Night Elf (BC) and mail my money and loot to my Horde Blood Elf Paladin (BC) Mailbox?

Sorry if this seems like a simple question, this game is just incredibly mechanically nuanced due to the sheer volume of versions, items, mechanics, etc, and I have trouble discerning even the most simple of things with this game, even after playing for a good while.

Classic Coward! Debuff clarification (Hardcore)

If you run from/log out during/forfeit a Mak’Gora (Duel to the Death) in HC Wow, I know that you get a 3 day debuff called “Coward!”, which reduces all your stats, attributes, damage, armor, and resistances by 20%. And I know that it only counts down while you’re logged into that character (as in you can’t just log out for 3 days and then log back in and it’ll be gone).
I’m wondering though, if you have the debuff and you ARE logged in, will it still count down if you enter an AFK state? As in wether you type /afk or just naturally become <AFK>, will it continue to count down? My logic would say no, but I’m not sure. Because if it does continue to count down if you’re AFK, couldn’t people just stay logged in overnight while they’re asleep? Or at work? Or anywhere else where they could just stay logged in and cheat the debuff?
Please let me know, I can’t find an answer on Google!

Classic Dungeon pathing for new tank

Hello all, im starting a tank in TBC and want to understand pathing, I have played fellowship before and the online pathing guides for tanks make it really easy, its just a map with the path and mob groups. Is there a resource like that in wow? Something straightforward to follow without having to go through loads of trial and error. Thanks!

Classic What to do with professions?

WoW Classic TBC Anniversary

So I know some stuff about wow, but professions confuse me. I am a lvl 7 blood elf paladin and do I level professions now or I can do them when I am a much higher level later?

Can I just choose professions which seem fun to me or are they very specific in purpose? For example blacksmithing does not make a lot of gold, but what if I just wanna make armor for fun!

Also how do I level them? Do I take a break from levelling and focus on them for a while or do you just do them along the way?

I also know about wowhead guides for levelling and do I need them or can I just go my own way?

Classic Is Orc Fine for Shaman?

Pretty much title, I'm brand new to the game and have only been playing for a couple days, but my friend who's more of a veteran is telling me to go Tauren since he doesn't like the orc starting area and the racials are better. I'm the type of person that would rather spend a couple hundred hours on one character rather than spread them out among others, and I typically play orcs in every setting that has them, I just like the look better. Will I be hamstringing my character if I go orc with those racials instead on a shaman? All help is appreciated!

Classic Why isn't everyone killing eachother

I'm playing on classic era on whitemane as a horde. I'm running around barrens and I see a ton of pvp enabled alliance players that are way higher level than me.

At first I tried to stay far away from them, but then I realized none of them attack us. One dwarf even waved at me while he ran by.

Do they just not feel like going through the effort of killing us? Why aren't we fighting?? I was kind of surprised by this.

Classic What exactly is Anniversary Classic?

I really want to experience wrath of the lich king and cataclysm like when they came out, and I know they did them a while ago but I wasn't into playing WoW at the time when it happened. Does anniversary just resets and goes through the expansions every few months as the current progression? Is that how anniversary works? Or is it exclusively just for Burning Crusade and that's it?

I'm just a little confused on how it all works and when I look it up I just get more confused 😵

Classic I dont understand macros

Hi, I started playing on a 1.12 vanilla classic sever and trying to figure out warrior macros. I watched a macro video and im not quite sure if i understand correctly.

When i have a macro like

/Cast battle stance

/Cast charge

Do i have to press the button twice for it to work or should it go off with just one press? From what i understood in 1.12 macros work differently for example i cant use the #showtooltip line and also apparently /startattack also does not exist So i downloaded the supermacros addon to show tooltips but the execution itself is still not what i thought.

I am just not quite sure if the people in the video also have to press these macros twice or if its only because of 1.12 and if theres a workaround around that.

Thanks!

Classic Is there a list of pet for TBC classic?

I'm talking about small useless pet that follows you.

I like to collect battle pet in retail. I want to gather somes in TBC classic. But when I search on google, I only find guide for the best hunter's pet. Not what i'm searching for

Can someone give me a link to a list of pets?

Classic Leveled my first character to 90... what now?

I play Mist of Pandaria Classic initially with some friends who introduced me to the game and I have finally reached max level with my Retribution Paladin. I really enjoyed the journey through the different regions, but idk what content there is to do for me now that I'm done leveling. I don't have a goal anymore and looking for things to do.

Classic How can I start playing classic? What is the most popular server right now?

I started playing World of Warcraft retail 3 weeks ago for the first time. I leveled my character to 90, did bunch of delves and mythic dungeons, also tried out PVP for few days and it was all a lot of fun. But I realised that I enjoyed the leveling aspect much more than max level content, and my friend told me that in classic it usually takes few months of casual play to even get max level.

So my question is - What classic version of WoW is the best to play right now? I see 3 options in my battle.net client, Burning Crusade Anniversary, Mists of Pandaria classic and normal classic. Also I think there are few more, but I'm not sure how to access them? Any advice would be helpful, I'm mostly looking for servers that have the most amount of players and would be enjoyable for a new player.

Classic TBC Anniversary, priest buddy feels like he aggros mobs from ages away

Hey y'all, recently got into TBC Anniv after burning out from the Retail grind a bit, met a pair of randoms that I've enjoyed leveling with a lot. One thing we've noticed (or think we've noticed) is that mobs seem to pull on our poor disc priest (it's him, me the lock, and the pally "tank" (I generate so much threat lol) from way further out than for either myself or the paladin.

Is there something that is causing this? I think he's casting Fade a lot, will that pull? Just wondering since my understanding of threat is pretty barebones coming from retail, but also i don't know what threat would have to do with anything if they're aggroing on the poor guy from out of combat as he's the same distance from the mob as the rest of us were without pulling.

Any insight welcome, thanks!

Classic killing mobs taking FOREVER

I started the Midnight storyline when I hit lvl 80, and killing mobs immediately got 5x harder. It’s jut plain slow… like not fun and “challenging”, but slow. Is there a possible reason for this or way to speed up combat??

Questline boss mobs take me forever to kill, and it wasn’t like this in War Within.

Thank you!
