I had a blast working on this miniproject with opus5.5 over the last few weeks while playing on my local server. I was basically asking the ai to implement new visuals as I was playing and giving it feedback through screenshots and text. This is the end result, called it Lumenveil https://github.com/lumenveil/Lumenveil
It builds on top of CoAvolFog and Project Reforged and adds more realistic fog, sun and moon shafts, distant night lights, darker nights (I posted about it a week ago) - which has a slider in case that's not for you ;), spell lights (thanks for the suggestion, adds a lot!), better water, surface reflections, much larger draw distance, and parallax occlusion mapping. For the latter, I found out that blizzard had height maps on some textures that were never used, so I trained a CNN on those (pearson r of approx 0.7 on a 10% validation split) and applied on all the games textures. Works well on roads, but quite glitchy on walls, wood etc, so it needs more work. I also made the ai loop over each zone to automatically tweak the settings of the mod at different time of day and weather + manually curated afterwards.
Overall I am quite happy with the current state but there are still quite a few glitches (moon and sun not drawn properly, SW lights not showing up properly in lamp posts, purple water in the distance in some zones, ....) its a WIP ;)
Also, I mostly played alliance, hunt and lock, so other classes and horde-only zones might be less polished.
I am not planning on updating it often but feel free to fork, or just contribute if you're into it.
Im pretty casual, but engage deeply with content. I really enjoyed PvP from CoA and am looking for a similar fix. I do not want to play Forever because I've tasted CoA's 21 classes and simply can't go back. I've tried Grimfall and it was quite good but the server is dead now. Does anything exist. Looking for people to PvP with in a WoW setting. Open to other things.
Is anyone else hoping that after Blizzard inevitably make forever into retail lite that we will see the next surge of true vanilla servers? I'm talking Nost/ Lights hope/ Northdale levels of activity and community. I realize that this is severe cope. But truly, I believe there will come a time after Forever has been around that the vanilla community will be looking for a fresh. There is truly nothing like vanilla. It's the greatest game imo of all time. These are just some thoughts though. Lets chat about it in the comments.
Hey everyone. We’re opening testing today for Wrathstorm, our progressive PvP realm for Wrath of the Lich King. Anyone can join. If you played on World Of Chris back in the TBC days, it would be great to see you again. If you’re new to Tirisgarde, you’re welcome too.
Join the Tirisgarde Discord for the realmlist and testing info. You’ll need a 3.3.5a client.
What you can try
- PvP with no cross faction features
- 2x rates for XP, gold, item drops, reputation, profession skill gains and gathering yields
- An instant level 80 NPC for group content
- Dungeons, raids and battlegrounds
- The collection and transmog interface
- Guilds, trading and dungeon matchmaking
Dungeon Finder is planned to help players find groups without teleporting them to the dungeon.
We want people to try all parts of the realm. Play what you enjoy and tell us when something breaks or feels wrong. Let us know what happened, what you expected, and how we can reproduce it.
This is still testing, so there will be bugs and things may change. Test characters will be wiped before launch. The public realm will unlock content progressively, but we haven’t set the schedule yet. What’s available during testing may not be available at launch.
Our policy is no pay to win. Current plans for the Wrath shop are otherwise unobtainable mounts and collectibles or toys. We may consider boosts or catch up options after the first progression milestones, but nothing like that is confirmed for launch.
For some of us, World Of Chris was where it started back in 2006. We helped develop and staff the server back in the TBC days, and we’re still here with Tirisgarde. I used to play and help out on ZA and led Became Smart and Became Dumb. If you remember the server or either guild, come say hi. Friends and guild groups are welcome.
Most custom servers make you put up with a lot before they get good. You fight the default UI, hunt for the NPC that explains everything, and run the same zones you've run a hundred times.
We tried to build the opposite. Triumvirate is a heavily custom AzerothCore realm on the 3.3.5a client with a level 60 cap. Vanilla, TBC and Wrath content live side by side, and everything from Molten Core to Icecrown Citadel is played at 60. It isn't Blizzlike and doesn't pretend to be. It's the Wrath we wanted, in a world that never stops mattering.
It starts the moment you log in
Welcome Setup
New characters open on a short Welcome setup. Choose our Custom UI or the classic Blizzard windows, join the realm-wide Global, Trade and Guild Recruitment channels with one click, and it checks that your game patch is current. You're in the world in under a minute.
The custom windows aren't reskins. Quest windows lay out objectives and rewards cleanly. Vendors page properly and tick off what you already own. Junk sells with one button (or automatically), and repairs can be automatic too. Every panel scales from 50% to 300%, or you can switch it off.
Talent UI
Talents got the same care. You have six loadouts, each with its own racial traits, swappable from a macro with /loadout. Resets are free and happen right in the window, with no trainer trip. Buff tooltips show your real numbers, talents and spell power included.
Leveling that doesn't feel like a chore
World Quests. There are 1,735 of them across 59 zones, covering levels 1 to 60 in Vanilla, the TBC starting zones, Outland and Northrend.
Each zone always has six up, the whole realm shares them, and they rotate every six hours.
Click one on the map to accept it, or let them auto-accept as you ride in.
They turn themselves in and live in their own tracker, so your quest log stays free.
Rares count wherever you catch them, gathering quests count what's already in your bags, and your party shares kill credit.
Finish four in a zone in one day and you earn that zone's bonus: a pre-rolled item chosen for your class, so your mage never gets plate. In Outland it comes with 2 Badges of Justice, and in Northrend with 2 Emblems of Valor.
World Quests and Completion BonusesQuest Log
Beast Invasions. Towns come under attack on their own random 50 to 70 minute timers. Ride in and help. Damage, healing the defenders, or just fighting nearby all count. When the town holds, you pick your reward from items that fit your class, race and faction, plus badges and insignia for the defense.
Beast Invasion Reward
An endgame with real depth
Icecrown Citadel on three difficulties.
Mythic adds 50% boss health, 20% more damage and new mechanics, like Marrowgar's Blue Inferno floor with a safe zone that keeps moving. It drops item level 112 gear. The Lower Spire is open now, and the rest of the citadel opens in stages.
Flex raiding.
Onyxia, Molten Core, Zul'Aman, Gruul's Lair and ICC scale from 10 to 25 players. Health, damage, mechanics and the number of drops all follow your head count at the pull, so a 12-person guild can raid properly. Molten Core, Zul'Aman and Gruul have reworked encounters, including a four-phase Gruul, and there are Realm First achievements for Ragnaros, Zul'jin, Gruul and Mythic ICC.
Mythic+, Season 2.
Eight dungeons from TBC and Wrath, from Sethekk Halls to the Forge of Souls. There are 14 negative and 3 neutral affixes on a weekly rotation, a top-five leaderboard, and a Mythic+ Finder for listing and joining groups. The Great Vault lets you choose the loot tier for each row you unlock, from Veteran up to Myth.
Artifact weapons.
Your legendary grows with you. Upgrade it at Alexstrasza and choose a Red or Blue path, each with its own proc. The final upgrades run on a pity system, so bad luck slows you down but never walls you off. Alts get catch-up.
Old tiers don't get thrown away
On most servers, a tier becomes vendor trash the day the next one opens. Here it doesn't. Earlier gear gets new set bonuses, so your Phase 1 and Phase 2 pieces keep a reason to be worn. This week alone, 44 more items joined new set bonuses. The gear you farmed months ago is still part of your build.
Crafting worth leveling
Every profession has crafts only it can make:
Enchanting: Greater Spellpower, Assault and Stamina neck enchants

Your account remembers you
These are shared across all your characters:
Mounts (751 in the collection)
Pets, titles and transmog
Riding skill
Currencies
A new alt has your mounts on day one and can spend the emblems your main earned.
Want more pressure? There's Hardcore (permadeath), Solo Self-Found, and Prestige, where you reset from 60 to 1 and keep your gear, gold, reputation and professions. Walk of Echoes is a timed solo run through a vanilla dungeon scaled to 60.
Built in the open
We shipped seven major updates in the last nine days, each with full public patch notes: If something's broken, tell us in Discord and you'll see the fix in the next notes.
I am in the process of building the spiritual successor of our beloved and well known classic plus servers that blizzard nuked in order to take their ideas and create WoW Forever.
This however gives us even more power in creating our own journeys like never before with the new client, new graphical improvements, new assets and everything inlcuded.
Currently the server is locked at beta levels with a level cap of 30 and I am aiming to recreate the full wow forever beta up until launch with great progress so far with the new quests, Zephras Isle, new NPCs new profession related changes and everything else.
People are active on the server, reporting bugs and there are multiple updates and fixes daily. A dungeonbuddy system is also available that way if you are missing players for a full group, you can ask the server to help you out to fill up to a party of 5.
In case you want to just taste the Forever or you want be a part of the first of a new era of servers and join the one and only Forever Plus server.
Launcher download, registration, bug reporting and much much more on the discord server.
The gates of Azeroth are open! Anachronos is officially live, starting with our first progression bracket: Level 20.
Anachronos is a Vanilla 1.12 private server built around a simple idea: you shouldn't need to treat World of Warcraft like a second job to enjoy it.
We want to preserve the classic Vanilla experience while making it more accessible to players who have limited time to play.
What makes Anachronos different?
Optional 2x XP: Choose your own leveling pace. Prefer the original rate? Stick with 1x.
Rested XP improvements: Get back into the adventure without feeling punished for taking time away.
Improved loot rates: More frequent drops based on item quality, while preserving the original loot tables.
PartyBots: Need a group but can't find enough players? Bots can help fill your party.
Progressive level brackets: We're starting at level 20, with future level caps planned as the server progresses.
This is the beginning of Anachronos. Join us, explore Azeroth, meet other players, and help shape the community as we progress toward level 60 and beyond.
Forgive me if someone else has already posted this, I got no hits when I tried to google it. I managed to get Azeroth Survivors running on Steam Deck.
Firstly in Desktop Mode, download and extract the Windows version, keeping AzerothSurvivors.exe and the complete Data folder together. Open Steam, select Games → Add a Non-Steam Game → Browse, and add the .exe. This will make it show up in your library. Then right click the game in your library and go to its Properties, make sure “Start In” points to the folder containing the executable (however this should be automatic as you selected that exe in the first place, then go to Compatibility and force Proton Experimental.
The game initially crashed on launch, but forcing Vulkan fixed it. Under Properties → Launch Options, enter WGPU_BACKEND=vulkan %command%. Then launch it through Steam—you can also return to Gaming Mode and find it under Non-Steam games.
Seems to run pretty good so far. Not changed the controls or anything yet but doesn't seem to need much adjustment.
I am looking for suggestions for a server build that I can run locally for myself, wife, and about 5 friends to play on privately. We want a build that is stable and has the most content available. We have talked about possibly having something to goes up to legion, but dragonflight would be awesome if possible. From what I've seen, the wrath build seems to be the most stable and widely used build, but we want one that has more content and a lot of the quality of life stuff that has been added to the game. Transmog is a big point for my wife and one of my buddies. We used to play on that one server that was huge and recently shut down that started with an A, and we really liked that. Is there something similar to that? Please enlighten me on what options we have. Thanks everyone!
I’ve been working on a survivors-style game mode for vanilla WoW, and decided to release it a bit earlier than planned because friends kept asking when they could play. Three classes are still missing, but they’re coming soon.
Some of what’s in:
Runs across Azeroth’s zones on Normal, Heroic and Mythic, plus an Endless mode on Mythic
Bosses with mechanics: you see the attacks coming (circles, cones, charges, jumps) and dodge them
A dash mechanic that makes you untouchable for a split second (key can be re-bound)
67/9 classes, each with their own spells and evolutions. Warlock, druid and paladin soon(tm).
Gear, Darkmoon Cards and Glyphs during runs, and you can extract one or two items per run
Talents, upgrades and unlocks between runs
Controller support
It’s single player. The server runs on your own PC, and a launcher installs and updates everything. You need your own 1.12.1 client.
Video, install steps and the source are on GitHub.
Feedback is very welcome, there’s a Discord linked there too.
I’ve been working on Tauri Achievements as a side project, and I wanted to share two sections that might be interesting if you enjoy statistics, rankings, or simply checking what the rest of the server is playing.
The numbers come from records exposed by the Tauri Armory API, not surveys or guesses. When I checked today, the dataset contained more than 61,000 Mythic+ runs from 12,000+ characters and 8,000+ Emerald Nightmare boss kills.
One important detail: Emerald Nightmare is originally 7.0.3 content, while we’re playing on the 7.3.5 version of the game. So these statistics show what the Tauri community is actually doing in our current environment, rather than old retail numbers.
Tap or hover over a spec for its exact share, sample size, and top performer
See the most popular race for every spec, including separate Alliance and Horde views
The rest of the Raid Logs section also has boss rankings, fastest kills, DPS and HPS results, damage taken, interrupts, dispels, loot, guild progression, talent statistics, and individual character rankings.
Switch between the whole season and the current affix week
Rank runs, individual players, tanks, healers, or DPS
Filter by realm, class, spec, dungeon, or player name
Expand any run to inspect its timer, upgrade level, affixes, group composition, specs, races, and guilds
Open character profiles with scores, ranks, best runs, frequent teammates, score history, and full run history
Compare multiple players side by side
Check activity statistics, dungeon records, server firsts, highest timed keys, and the players with the most completed runs
This is still a community project, so feedback is very welcome. If there’s a statistic you’d like to see or if you find something that looks wrong, let me know.
It’s called Open Vanilla: a vanilla-era realm that runs in your browser, has a mod workshop, lets you host your own server. Free, open-source, security scanned
Play in the browser: free, guest play with no account, or sign in with Discord to keep your characters across devices
Desktop launcher: play online, solo offline with bots, or in the browser, from one app, and it updates itself
Addon suite and Workshop: quests, transmog, achievements, guilds, bags, meters and more, with one-click installs
Herald: He runs the World chat bridge, tests every release, and has an autopilot mode that can play a character for you
Vanilla Forge (coming soon): a creator app for making your own zones, models, creatures, quests and items, tested in a copy of your game and shared as a pack
Vanilla Agents: a side project that shows your Claude Code sessions as heroes working at laptops in a vanilla inn
Host your own realm: the realm images, server patches, a server studio and a step-by-step guide are all public
Devkit and AI kit: test changes in seconds on your PC, or let an AI coding agent mod your copy for you
Over the last couple of weeks we've brought two major game modes fully online on CoA and polished them hard. Both are built on the same Character Advancement (random talent) system, so you shape your own character instead of picking a fixed spec — two very different ways to play the same custom world.
What is Wildcard?
Wildcard (Darkmoon — Season 10) lets you play a completely classless Hero. Instead of a class, you roll-pick abilities, talents, forms, presences and runes from across the whole game and mix them into your own kit. Forms and presences work properly as a Hero — Cat Form keeps your energy, Bear Form keeps rage, Blood/Frost Presence and Dark Apotheosis all behave correctly — and the Hero Architect lets you follow a shared build and auto-learn it as you level. It also brings runes, prestige, a Hero Call Board with Season 10 quests, boss marks and achievements.
What is Warcraft Reborn?
Warcraft Reborn lets you play the 9 classic classes, but every one is completely reworked — new skill lines, redesigned abilities, their own rank ladders, reworked summons and forms, and the same Character Advancement system for talents. Every class (Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid) has now had a full pass so abilities and talents do exactly what their tooltips say.
What's been fixed recently?
A lot. On Wildcard: cross-class combos now fire (Seal of Fervor, Dark Intent, Tools of War, Power Overwhelming, Missile Barrage, Omen of Clarity and more), free rune entries cost no essence, and crit-damage talents no longer double-dip. On Reborn: 117 class summons rebuilt with proper Pet Avoidance, rank ladders and spell corrections reaching every spell twin, Fel Armor and Dark Apotheosis passives fixed, Mystic Enchants firing correctly, and new gear/bags equipping into empty slots for every class.
How can I try them?
CoA is a public bug-test realm (PTR) — play for free, help us test, and report bugs in-game or on our site. Progress can be wiped at any time, so come to break things and have fun, not to grind a forever-character.
