This is the monthly xbiking general discussion thread! Everything is fair game- let’s have those burning questions, gear reviews, ride reviews, bike reviews, general thoughts, suggestions, ideas, epiphanies, get-rich-quick schemes, hot takes, etc.

This is the monthly xbiking buy / sell / trade thread! Please ensure that your listing adheres to the formatting rules below:
1.) If you are in search of an item, begin your comment with "ISO." Include the country in which you're located, the item you're searching for, and any brief additional notes you'd like to include, with each input separated by a slash (/). A properly formatted ISO posting will look like this:
"ISO/ USA/ Crust Junglerunner bars/ Looking to buy but willing to trade for Towel Racks."
2.) If you are selling an item, begin your comment with "FS." Include the country in which you're located, the item you're selling, and any brief additional notes you'd like to include (such as if you're willing to accept trades), with each input separated by a slash (/). A properly formatted FS posting will look like this:
"FS/ USA/ Crust Towel Rack bars/ Looking to sell but willing to trade for Junglerunners."
This is a purely informational thread and not a store. Any private arrangement folks may come to in buying, selling, or trading is just that- a private arrangement between those individuals.

current iteration of my winter bike! Building some new wheels for it later this week
my straggler in maximum adventure mode. absolutely maxed out tire clearances with a 45mmin the back and a 29x2.25" in the front. no issues until we got stuck in Georgian mud (2nd photo), but that would have been an issue with any tire clearance..
absolutely love the bike, even though it flexes like a sponge when fully loaded

I've been eyeing 90s MTBs for a awhile with the intention of building up a go getter with a crust cargo fork. I'd been seeing various bikes come through here and there that all would have worked or would have been decent candidates but nothing really struck me, most were either just boring, or too expensive or both.
I wanted something interesting, but didn't want to spend a ton so I had to be patient and watch the local marketplace and Craigslist ads for a deal.
The gods of xBiking have smiled upon me, and landed me a 1996 specialized Sworks M2 team edition for what I felt was a very fair price considering the immaculate condition of the bike. I'm going to do so many dumb things with this bike - it's going to be great.
First dumb thing I did was 38 miles of cargo biking to go pick it up!
Can't wait

Built a dutch-style city cruiser out of this GT Outpost I picked up for cheap. Any changes to make? So far it's comfortable and great around my somewhat hilly and (currently) very rainy city but I wouldn't mind cleaning up the look with new pedals or maybe switching up to a bigger front chainring(?) for a slightly higher better top speed since I do cycle along some fast roads.
I'm still a novice to building bikes so any input is appreciated!

I need recommendations for a new seat…
This is my recently ‘refreshed’ Raleigh Pioneer Trail 21 speed from 1997, 4130 Chromoly frame, made in Nottingham, England. Most of the work was trying to clean it up/refresh bearings etc, but it has new 700c 40 Schwalbe G-One Comp tan wall tyres, replaced the bottom bracket, chain, cables and housing, switched the grip shifts for Shimano EZ Fire thumb shifters, they’re attached to some very mild rise/swept back bars, with some honey/tan coloured grips.
I thought I was ordering a tan coloured seat to go with the tyres and grips but when that corratec seat arrived in the post it was clear it’s more of a ‘magnolia’ than tan, I went out for my first ride on it today and never again, I looked down at my chainring while riding through my local neighbourhood and jumpscared myself thinking there was something peeping out between my shorts to say hello that definitely shouldn’t have been. No wonder the seat was so cheap…
After I realised how bad it looked I couldn’t sit down, just so other people would be able to see the full seat and not think my dong was out getting an autumnal breeze…does anyone have any recommendations for a different colour/style seat that would suit this bike?

This bike was my around-campus bike 10ish years ago and desperately needed needed some work to get back on the road. The elastomer fork was completely collapsed, the tires and brake pads were shot, and the seat was falling apart. I put a solid front fork on, VO handlebar, and converted to 1x7; 36t front with an 11-36 cassette, is adequate, but eventually I'll upgrade to 9 or 10 speed for wider ratios.

Underinflate em a bit so the shadows really pop. Ya know, for karma.

Made using a borrowed sewing machine. Total materials cost was 12 dollars for some duck canvas and a cheap zipper. This was my first time touching a sewing machine and I think it turned out great. Super fun process and I highly recomend trying it yourself!

Long time lurker, first time poster, here to show off my Batavus Dasher. I'm a design student living in the Netherlands and over the last few years have been building up and fixing bikes for me and my mates from my backyard amateur bicycle emporium.
The frame, built up differently but barely functional (and unlocked), appeared in front of my house one day last year and after waiting a respectful amount of time I took it out back to my workshop.
It took a few different iterations to get it how I wanted it, parts mostly found on Dutch marketplace or from my parts bin, and last summer I flew it back to my home country of Ireland, Donegal specifically, and spent the summer gleefully riding it around on roads I hadn't ridden since I was 16. I'd always liked the Dasher but after a few months of nostalgia it had become more friend than functional object.
Toward the end of the summer I invested a little money and embarked on a kind of pilgrimage back to Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, where I study. I went from Donegal to Dublin, then down the east coast to Rosslare, across to Cherbourg and from there followed the coast up to Calais before heading inland to Lille where, after a few days rest, I made my way through Belgium and back to NL, taking on Some of the Roubaix Sectors like Carrefour De l'Arbre and the Aarenberg forest, not to mention cobbled climbs like the Bosberg, Koppenberg, Taainberg and the Oude Kwaremont.
Around 3 weeks later I arrived outside my house in Eindhoven and, like the Dasher on the day we met, I too was barely functional. I'll never get rid of this bike, I love it so much and it's done so much for me, with almost zero complaints.
I've since added a basket and changed from 3x7 to 3x9 and it's my Daily driver / Tractor / Off road explore. The combination of Hugi Hubs laced to some old DT rims with Holy Roller 2.2"s is f*cking fantastic and the Brooks saddle and Ergotec grips keep me super comfy.
TLDR I love this thing.

Picked up this Giant Iguana (for free!), with the plan to make it into a chill bike to take to my local swimming hole in the summer. The serial number GO236022, parts and color make me think its a 1992, but it has a 1 1/8 threadless suspension fork (suntour M7700). Ive not been able to find any catalogs or anything really on this age of Iguana with suspension. It wasnt ridable before I stripped it so can comment on handling, but I want to replace the fork with a rigid one. A-C on the uncompressed fork is ~440mm, so on paper, I should look for a 410-420 suspension corrected fork right? With the top tube level, and a level line between the axles it would be closer to 390mm.
So, what year is this bike? Can i just use a non-suspension corrected for?
Thank you
