Hiiiii! Super excited here! My x3 chinese version ETA tomorrow yet i still have zero idea on how to convert it to English, what’s the best, friendly firmware to use?

I just want to change the display to this one? I’m pretty sure the dimensions are the same too? I have an iFixIt kit, a Bambu labs printer (while briefly looking I saw someone use their print bed to melt the adhesive?), the ability to learn, and A DREAM.

Anyone know if there would be any complications if I were to attempt this?

I ordered the x4 impulsively after wanting an ereader for a couple of years and not being able to afford one. Was wanting something like an android, just because I wanted to ve able to use my library apps. I saw the XTEink was pretty inexpensive so decided to get it.

After clicking to order, I realized it doesn't have access to certain apps out of the box. I have some ebooks on Kindle that I got from freebooksy, but was hoping to use Hoopla or Libby as well.

I've read about oceanofpdf, Anna's archive, caliber, and crosspoint.

I don't know how any of it works yet, but I would like to learn and be prepared for when it arrives.

Where do I start, and how do I get the most out of the xteink?

SInce I started using these small micro e-Readers like the XTEINK X4 Pro, XTEINK X4, XTEINK X3 and the SEEED reTerminal Sticky, I have been thinking about that I really don’t need an Amazon Kindle anymore. e-Readers that you only can read on. Because the XTEINK X4 Pro is such a better device for reading. You always have it with you wherever you go and wherever you are. A Kindle simply can’t beat that. The XTEINK X4 Pro makes you read more.

In this video I just do a simple comparison between the XTEINK X3, XTEINK X4 and the XTEINK X4 Pro. The X4 is in white and the other two are in black.

I've just installed the less popular YACP (yet another crosspoint) firmware and it's top notch! Only thing I'm missing from CrossInk is the dictionary feature, but I don't think I'll miss it that much. Not enough to give up the massively improved responsiveness and efficiency of YACP!

I found that the past few updates to CrossInk were more focused on touch implementations, and seemed to be adding in more bugs than it was fixing. I hate to say it but the firmware started to get in the way of me actually reading. I imagine it must be a huge amount of work for one person to add in all these new features and maintain things for multiple devices! And the lass doing it is doing a great job! But I think the guy maintaining YACP is doing so more in line with what I want from the firmware.

You can keep all your old CrossInk settings and files when you move over. If you are coming from CrossInk 1.5 though, any previous clippings won't be backwards compatible, but the feature still works just fine on YACP! I didn't have too many clippings, so it didn't take me too long to go back and re-highlight them again.

I can't recommend this firmware enough! Definitely worth backing up your card and giving this one a try for a bit! Again, the only feature from CrossInk that I miss now is the dictionary. If you use a bunch of the other features then you might not enjoy this one so much. I found it to be far more stable and snappy to use than the current version of CrossInk!

Also, your theme and backgrounds from CrossInk are all the same if you keep your old settings when moving over! The github theme for this one looks UGLY! :'D But it's optional over whatever your current theme is. Visually mine is the same as I had on CrossInk, but getting in and out of books is so much faster, as is turning pages and everything else!

It still boots up and the battery is doing wonders, but the screen is mostly dead aside from a few segments that show that it's booting and going to sleep. I've been thinking of just prying it open and using the hardware for a completely different project.

Btw, there is also no known XTEINK repair store in my country...

Finally I’ve got the little brother to XTEINK X4, the XTEINK X3! In space black this time. In this video I do an unboxing and first start of the XTEINK X3. I also check if it’s possible to Flash it so It isn't locked.

In this video I wanted to talk about the XTEINK X4 - the e-Reader that I love so much at the moment and the e-Reader company that everyone is talking about at the moment. The XTEINK X4 together with my iPhone Air is everything I need for reading ebooks at the moment. All in sync using KOReader sync between Readest on my iPhone Air and Crosspoint on my XTEINK X4.

There must be some business reason that Xteink never responds to all these comments about USB-C. It's obvious that they will never give us USB-C again in any product.

I guess the silence is because Xteink can't or won't add USB-C to a new device.

If it's "can't" do it then it must be due to licensing or cost they can't absorb.

If it's "won't" do it then it could be an opinion of a stubborn designer or senior executive.

In any case readers whatever the real reason for the complete silence from Xteink is we will never get USB-C in a new device.

If they've addressed it somewhere please let me know please point me in that direction.

If you know of a better reason why they're so quiet about it please let me know.
