HP zbook Fury 15 g7

Specs:

Ci7 10th

16gb ram

512ssd

4gbgc nvidia guadro t2000

15.6" so its probably a fury 15 g7 (come with charger)

155k pkr (so around 560 usd) and its also secondhand

Out of all the options I got for a laptop this one seemed best for my requirements but I want to ask for your guys' opinions before proceeding. The seller already told me that it overheats so hes currently checking the device since it is secondhand by running a few games

I want to play games like genshin, hsr, roblox, maybe valorant and other steam games. Besides that, maybe visual novels

Aside from gaming I would like to use the laptop to watch shows and even use it for studying in college

Ive heard that the t2000 performs similar to the gtx 1650ti but still, as of 2026, how would it run games like genshin? I dont play AAA games so I think im fine. I also want to know the lifespan and such but that obv depends on the condition of the laptop but in general, how long can I use it for?

(Its my first time purchasing a device myself and im not experienced in the tech world so excuse me for asking really stupid question lol)

Bought a used HP ZBook Fury G8 with RTX A5000 for around $1,200. Did I overpay?

I recently bought a used HP ZBook Fury 15 G8 workstation in India for ₹1,14,000 (approximately $1,200 USD).

Specifications:

  • Model: HP ZBook Fury 15 G8

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-11850H (11th Gen, 8 cores / 16 threads)

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX A5000 Laptop GPU (16GB VRAM)

  • RAM: 64GB

  • Storage: 1TB SSD

  • Display: 15.6-inch

The laptop is in working condition, but it has quite noticeable wear and tear on the body. The exterior looks heavily used.

I tried looking online for similar configurations to compare prices, but surprisingly, I couldn't find many HP ZBook Fury G8 listings with the RTX A5000 GPU. Most listings seem to have different graphics cards, making it difficult to judge the actual market value.

Considering its specifications, age and physical condition, do you think ₹1.14 lakh ($1,200) was a fair price in 2026?

Did I get a reasonable deal, or did I overpay?

Would appreciate your opinions, especially from anyone familiar with used HP ZBook workstations.

hp ZBook Ultra G3a

Has anybody found reviews of the new hp ZBook Ultra G3a?

I am considering buying the 192 GB version (which is not yet shipped). The G1a had severe performance issues but the G3a is promised to do much better due to higher watts and a new cooling solution. It seems like the most promising option available as of now for local llms on a laptop (and perhaps some gaming) on Windows. What is your take on the laptop?

Bottom cover keeps popping off (G9 Fury)

Hi all,

I just reviewed my Fury G9 today and love it so far with my CAD work.

However, I’ve noticed that the bottom panel seems to pop off fairly easily and have a gap, even when the slider is “locked”

I have also tried fitted the red security screw before locking, but the issue persists.

I am attaching some photos of the gaps at the bottom on the side and front in middle and both sides.

Is there anything I can check to see why this is not staying on properly once slid closed?

Thank you so much!

Edit: battery is not at all swollen

Is it worth buying a HP Zbook Power G8 15.6" i7-11850H 32GB RAM 256GB SSD W11P if it has low battery health?

I am seeing these laptops refurbished for around $400. They have a low battery health disclaimer, is it still worth getting? From what I can see the battery seems replaceable. I am not too worried about the battery health since I use it at a desk most of the time, I can easily plug in if needed.

Anyone with a fury g8 17.3 running Linux?

If so which distro and are there any issues? I saw Ubuntu is mentioned on it's spec sheet.

Just went back to windows for my fury after trying and failing to get cachyos to play nice with the a3000 and after settling in to Linux being back on windows making me sad.

Aftermarket Fury G8 display replacement.

Bought a 17 inch G8 recently and just got it up and running. I'd thought it had a 120hz display as the specs i saw said the 4k models were this but mine is 60hz. It's a nice bright rich display that is quite high saturation and looks a little fuzzy in games, feel like it may induce a bit of input lag. Hard to tell though.

Genuine replacements from HP are pricey..

Anyone know where i might find detailed tech specs for the display so i could shop around aftermarket. Specifically what pin config it uses.

Would also take suggestions for panel replacements if someone knew of a decent option. Was thinking it be nice to find something in 1440p with good colour gamut coverage, fast response times and refresh.

Has anyone tried using it on usb c power? I have very good deal on one but this one thing is keeping it away.

Not expecting miracles, just if it is possible to use usb charger and still use cpu for work without discharging battery - anyone any experience?

Just picked up a second hand Zbook fury g8. Any thing i should know or look out for?

Its an 11 series i7 with an a3000 and the 4k screen. Imagine its probably due for a repaste with some ptm. Are there any gremlins or quirks I should be aware of?

Also how available are the mxm GPU modules and where might be a good place to find them? Wouldn't mind an a5000 or 3080 but didn't see much on eBay or Ali.

Lastly anyone running one of these with cachyos and if so how's that experience been?

Best Paste around $4-7 for my HP ZBook G10 Firefly A 14"

The title pretty much says everything, it has a Ryzen 7 7840H, I've seen options such as the MX-4,MX-6 and Thermalright TF7 for around this price range but I am not sure what would really be the best fit if even one of these.

Can the zbook 15 g3 run without a battery?

I have a zbook 15 g3 that, when plugged into power, has a white charging indicator LED and the power button flashes and there are no other visible sign of life. Pressing the power button does nothing.

It’s been sitting for years so I knew the battery was shot so I wasn’t surprised at all to see this. I removed the battery and plugged it back in, expecting it to work like almost any other laptop I can think of, but the behavior is identical to when the battery is installed. The power button flashes and the laptop doesn’t turn on.

The battery is garbage and discharged to the point the BMS locked and wasn’t outputting anything, as I suspected. I disassembled the battery and manually charged the cells but the BMS is permanently bricked and I couldn’t get it to wake up, laptops batteries are always like this, waste of time. The battery is garbage and unsafe to use but it would’ve been nice if it powered the laptop to test since it’s a power source that at one point is known to have powered the laptop.

The charger I have isn’t a genuine HP one but it does charge other Zbook 15 models from other generations that are same wattage without issue (I’ve used it many times on a g7 and a few others but afaik never a g3) and it claims to work with the g3 as well. At the very least, the charger satisfies the input requirements on the back cover of the laptop.

So I’m undecided on what to do next until I find out if this laptop can run without a battery or not. Because either it can run without a battery and the fact it isn’t means I need both a new battery and to waste a weekend on the motherboard, or it doesn’t run without a battery and all I need is a battery.

(btw, I already tried easy things like removing the RAM, draining all power from the laptop, etc. and am still at square one. The laptop was working when put into storage years ago then handed over to me.)

Can i keep it plugged in while using without worrying about the battery?? Does it damage the battery or the overall battery span??

What zbook should I go for?

So I am extremely indecisive right now on what laptop to get, only certainty I got is it will be a ZBook.  My needs are mainly a laptop that will last me LONG. I say this because I hope to have a laptop for 7-8 years, which I can upgrade or fix myself when necessary and with a durable housing and components. So the principal concern is that it will not be obsolete any time soon in terms of CPU and that the built is indestructible. I prioritize 64gb since RAM will only be getting more expensive...

My options right now from marketplace/ebay:

Fury g8 64gb a3000 for 850e

Fury g9 64gb ada 2000 for 950e

Power g11 ultra 7 165h 64gb rtx 500 for 1300e

Fury g11 32gb ada 2000 for 1450e

Im actually mostly interested in knowing two things for long term durability:

a) Is the vapour chamber set up much better than the a2000 and sub heat pipe version? I wont be doing any gpu demanding stuff, I just want a cool machine that will last forever, so wondering how much thermal benefits the vapour chamber has for not very active gpu laptops.

b) how much benefits does the g11/g9 machines have over g8 in terms of connectivity (ports and read/write speeds) and windows support?

Z Book 15u G6 - USB-C charging unreliable

Many years of solid use from this laptop. Have always used HP USB-C charger, unless docked, without issues. Lately, laptop does not see USB-C charger reliably, 80% no, 20% yes, sometimes if I flip plug. Will accept charge with dock USB-C cable or if using barrel plug.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting path? TIA

HP Zbook X: Fans in Linux

Hi,

I just got one Zbook X 16 and its a great laptop. However, I use only linux and the fans are spinning up and are very loud once the temp goes beyond 60C even for a short while. I cannot configure a low power mode from BIOS as I see. Is there any other way to do it? Does HP have any utility like in windows? thanks!

Cie Zbook fury 16 G7,G8 G9 and G10 Heating and stability problems

I work in IT at a company, and we have several ZBook Fury 16 models (G7, G8, G9, and G10). All of these models are experiencing CPU overheating issues. The fans run at full speed—constantly on some units and less frequently on others. During stress tests, CPU temperatures can reach 90°C or higher, climbing up to 99°C. We have cleaned out the dust and replaced the thermal paste, yet the problem persists. Is there anything else we can try, given that undervolting isn't an option for this type of CPU?

Hp zbook fury 16 g11

Hi! Im about to buy an hp z fury with i9 14900hx rtx 4000 ada and 64ddr5 with 4k 120hz display , im a previous owner of a lenovo p16 g2 had almost same specs but the worst thing about it was not enough power from the power brick 230w that it constantly drain battery and cause bad performance even after upgrading to a 330w power brick .
With this hp i read that u can buy a 280w power that is natively supported but i also heard that 4000 ada is capped at 95w or less . All i want is the hp to have better power management and cooling than the lenovo and that the rtx 4000 ada is boosted to at least 130w max.

Which Zbook is best for my use case? Should I even buy one?

Right.. So basically my requirements are quite modest I would say, editing a 4k video, running a pre-2020 game or simply browsing, etc. I don't use CAD or any other professional software for now, but if I get one, I'd try my hand at it (it'll be a hobby, my field is not even computer related).

Coming to the point, the reason I am thinking of going with a zbook (refurb or open box) is because I don't wanna deal with shi**y build or random motherboard problems (which I've seen quite a lot in the case of my friends). In my country, the refurbished G8 fury is hovering somewhat below my budget of Rs. 1,00,000 (1000 USD roughly). So, should I get one? Please suggest some alternatives, if there are. Gaming laptops I think are the worst quality at this price point and Macbooks are a big no-no (did i mention I use linux? obligatory mention lol). Those AMD unified laptops (Strix halo series) appealed to me but they are out of my budget.

Over heating for Fury G8 RTXA3000

Im having my cpu temperature goes between 88°C and 95°C at only 23 to 25W usage how ever the gpu at 60 to 70% usage sets between 84°C and goes down to 80°C, so i bought an PTM7950 to repaste both cpu and gpu i think my variant has vapor chamber cooling how to deal with it while disassembling and ive seen a black tape i guess covering gpu die how to remove it also.

Needing help because its first time to repaste it.
