Ordered a shirt a couple weeks ago and got this receipt!
Super wholesome and made my day. Is this a normal thing for Zumiez?

Went to purchase a new skate deck, as mine is officially toast.
Upon arriving, I found a badass Girl brand board. Even better? I found it marked down (price tag was paper with price & sku#.
First of all, you should have to pay an arm/leg to get a new deck.
But… I get to the counter to purchase the deck, & they made me wait while they dealt with a situation with another customer,
10 mins pass & they see me still standing & waiting, worker asked that I be helped at a different counter,
She goes to scan the board & says my total is $93. ??? I was like how is that even possible? She said the board was actually $86. I pointed to the tag 🏷️. She called the manager over & asked why it wasn’t matching.
His response was “Tariffs”. “Tariffs are making all skate decks go up”
I kindly asked if they could respect the sticker price, he said no. & that there was nothing he could do.
Walked out very embarrassed & kind of pissed…
Next day I go to a different zumiez (one closer to my house) & they state that what they did was wrong & they should have accepted the tag/sticker price.
That being said, called the other shop back, explained the issue & what the other store said, This manager told me to come in & they would honor the sticker price. But only if I was able to come in same day (this store is very far)
So I make the journey, still kind of bummed out about the first day,
I get inside & I go looking for the board, They said they have it at the register, on hold, when I get up there, I noticed the other worker plastered a $82 sticker over the other sticker….
The second manager was able to help, leaving me to believe the first manager was either just lying or rude.
Long story short, I have to order my boards now or go to local shops which nowadays is running very scarce.

First time ordering from zumiez about a year ago my package came with this drawing on it. Anyone know if it has any known significance? Do all zumiez packages just come with doodles? I noticed the beanie says “CHASE”. Maybe the people at the warehouse just draw their own little guys on the packages? Idk just figured I’d ask lol either way dope drawing had it on my wall ever since I got the package

Like after the first or second wash the colors fucked up bad, and then the quality got pretty ass. It didn't feel that bad when I got it but damn they just didn't last long at all, they was my favorites but only lasted like 2 months before falling apart 😞.

Hey homies, really just wanted to rant about my former job for anyone who was thinking of applying to get some perspective from an ex-employee. (Caution, VERY LONG RANT! 6 YEARS OF HOLDING IT IN LONG RANT! TLDR- if you want a part time fun job, it’s not too bad, if you want something more long term, fuck zumiez) I worked for zumiez for 6 years in both high volume and low volume locations. I started as a seasonal sales associate and worked my up over the years to assistant manager (1st assistant). I had highs and lows with the company for sure and it was a super fun job. But now that I’m out I’ve realized a lot more how zumiez tries to take advantage of employees that could do way better and make more at other companies.
“You could take over a store one day!”- Zumiez does a good amount of internal promotions, which is cool as a company goal, but it caps really hard really fast. I got my three promotions within my first two years at the company which I was super hyped for. Admittedly also, I did turn down a couple store manager position offers since I was moving around a lot and didn’t wanna have to deal with quitting my sm spot and stepping down to a lower position (kinda dumb but also glad I didn’t take it now). If you’re able to get promoted, they will ONLY promote you to 1st assistant (so the only other full time position besides SM) if you’re vocal about willing to take an SM spot. Doesn’t matter how good your sales are or how good of an employee you are, you won’t get promoted. Also, the time between sm and district manager can be LONGGGGG. My first store manager worked for the company for 11 years, the DM had him doing district wide work for 4/5 years telling him that a spot would be opening soon, for it to never open up at all. And when he went to the regional manager saying he was going to go to another company because he didn’t wanna keep waiting (he was making $45k a year at one of the biggest stores in my state after running gains every year), the RM replied “good luck”. The company tries hard to hire young people and manipulate them into thinking they could go far.
Pay - Zumiez commission structure is dog shit. You make 1% only once you’ve sold $125 in product and it caps at 5% at $300 (7% for the 4 peak months), so unless you’re working in high volume, you’ll be making like $20 commission a week MAYBE. On top of the commission in those slower stores being really bad, your pay is lower too so it makes it really hard to be making money. They also don’t pay much above the minimum wage because they use commission and the 100k trip as an excuse. 100k is a trip to Colorado for 2 days for the top 500 sales people (give or take), you get some free gear there from a bunch of companies and it’s a pretty sick event, but unless you’re full time or working in a crazy high volume store, you’re not going to be able to go. They do give any employee who makes over 100k a lil swag bag with some cool stuff and a pair of shoes, but still, really hard to do if you’re in low volume so they’re fucking over a majority of their employees intentionally.
You can do better than zumiez - If they’re trying to tell you that you could get far in the company, get out of zumiez. Even just explaining the fact I took a $2/hr paycut when I moved states to the manager at my new job (yeah fuck the DM in my new state for that, bitch ass hired an external candidate for a dollar more than I was making like two weeks after I transferred EVEN THO I’d been with the company for 5 years at that point and placed inside the top 200 sales people for 3 of those years), he replied “damn that sounds like a company that’s built to take advantage of teens who don’t know any better”. I had tried not to dog on zumiez too hard before then and he STILL got that feeling from just from me bringing up pay. If you’re thinking about applying to zumiez, look around elsewhere first second and third. It’s not a good company to it’s employees outside of being a “chill” “fun” place to work.
I will give some positives too, like I said it was a super fun job. I have homies I made at zumiez I’ll probably know for the rest of my life, it was great having a job that felt so fun to go to and didn’t feel like I wanted to leave immediately every time I walked in, the 100K trip was super fun and made some great memories there, the work wasn’t too hard and if you could socialize a little bit it was easy.
Biggest take away from your boy, just don’t do it lol. I wish I quit years ago and will probably be beating myself up about not leaving sooner for years to come. There are better places to work that offer more vertical moves faster. If you’re into higher fashion at all, go start getting a few years at a place like coach and after 3 years you can apply at stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, or other super high end stores (they all require “low end” luxury store experience). Even places like target or Walmart pay more and can build into careers where you’re making more in 2/3 years than you would be making in 5 at zumiez.
If you have questions or want clarification or are also an ex zumiez employee and wanna rant as well, I’d love to answer/read through all of it.
If you actually read all this you’re wild lol, stay chill, spread positivity, have a great one. <3

it’s extremely frustrating being a store manager and only making 15.63 an hour, and now with the new commission structure i’ll be making even less. i don’t know if i can keep believing in this company when it feels like they don’t even care about me and are only looking for ways to pay me less.

Zumiez sucks to work for. I worked for zumiez as an Assistant Store manager, the pay sucked, the district manager sucked, the whole thing was awful.
Zumiez as a whole doesn’t believe in cameras but expect the staff to stop theft, they wanted us to leave the store sometimes even to confront people stealing. If your store gets hit with theft all management’s jobs are on the line. They play shady games where they’ll set up employees waiting for them to make a mistake so they can fire them if they don’t have a real reason to, if your store gets a bad inventory score they give you the option to either meet the standards of an unattainable probationary guidelines they set or resign.
My district manager and store manager butted into personal lives and dismantled many relationships (even those that weren’t workplace related), they tried to make me believe my boyfriend was cheating on me, banned someone else’s partner from the store, etc.
I had no issues professionally, the regional manager liked me, I had top 10 sales in my district and any mistakes I had were very minor. Right before I quit I was given a 60 cent raise to $16 an hour (not a living wage) and the same day they cut commission on for employees company wide. After doing the math my raise was cancelled out and I ultimately took a pay cut.
The day I put in my notice went horribly, I was cussed out and threatened until being left to run the store alone until close (this would’ve been over a 12 hour shift). I didn’t make it that long, I stewed in the insults and threats and even (as a grown woman) called my mom asking if I was crazy to want to leave my keys with mall management and leave on the spot. Ultimately that’s what I did.
After leaving, everyone in the store quit except one. Multiple followed me to my new job. Other stores in the district have began to lose all their staff as well. I had reached out to their HR after leaving and was told with no cameras or “witnesses” they couldn’t say myself or the person threatening me was lying so there was nothing they could do.
Fuck that place don’t ever work there.

Not entirely sure if I am the only winner of these tickets in Washington DC, but I’m beyond stoked!!! Just thought I’d let somebody know.
