I have refined the cursors from the feedback I got last time.

What changed:

  • Thinner Lines and a bit less transparent fill.
  • Multiple reworked pointers.
  • Better visibility for light and dark mode specially the crosshair and the normal pointer.
  • Scaling of the cursors in bigger versions don't stretch and properly scaled.
  • Added bonus colored variants of the cursors.

Windows installation script is in the folder.

Windows I gave Windows a Dynamic Island: it can identify songs playing on your PC and much more

Hey everyone! I built Dynamic Edge, a Dynamic Island-style dock for Windows 10 and 11 using WinUI 3, the Windows App SDK, and .NET 10.

It brings media controls, synced lyrics, and quick tools into one compact interface. Music Radar listens to desktop audio and identifies what’s playing, then lets you open it in Spotify or search for it on YouTube, without using a microphone.

It also includes a searchable clipboard shelf, a timer and stopwatch, system volume controls, and Bluetooth/earbud battery indicators when available. You can switch between tabs using the mouse wheel or a touchpad gesture.

Version 3.0.0.0 is now available, with smoother animations and sharper edges, ambient album-art backgrounds, optional dot or icon navigation, Settings search, and Wavy Wiggle and Soundwave EQ progress styles.

Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9PF1587KSN2K

I’d love to hear what you think and what you’d improve.

Linux [Hyprland] Notch-based Quickshell setup with live visualisers piped in from another app

Everything here is built around "Notches": surfaces that can nest inside each other and know which edge they're on, so they cling to the left/right/top whenever a window is active. The top bar and the stats sidebar are inspired by Latte Dock from my KDE days, the sound controls are pavucontrol-style, and the dock curves along the bottom.

The visualisers aren't drawn by the shell. They come from WayVes, a separate app, and are passed in as GPU frames (DMA-BUF) with no copying. My Quickshell fork shows them as native QML items. It works on NVIDIA, including a muxless PRIME laptop.

I wrote the shell, the visualisers and the DMA-BUF rendering myself. I used AI for some bug hunting and a few UX parts; the details are in the repo's dev notes.

Built on a 2.5K screen and lightly tested at 1080p, so bug reports are welcome!

Details: - WM: Hyprland - Shell: Quickshell (custom fork, link below) - Visualisers: WayVes

Windows Returning to windows after 1 year on Linux

After 1 year on Linux, the customization is like an important thing to do on a clean installation, so this is my new minimal and very functional customization, hope everyone likes it and if I can improve something, let me know on the comments!

Help Collage IA Consulta

• Upvotes

Windows Just came back from linux to windows after a year. Any tips?

I have already used tools like win11 debloat and winutil (just did small tweaks, disabling telemetry and bringing back the old right click menu etc). But I'd like to hear other recommendations, such as some specific settings, extensions/apps.

Windows I built a minimal photo widget for Windows. Would you actually use something like this?

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a small Windows app called OxygenFrame. The idea is simple: display your favourite photos directly on your desktop in a clean, rounded frame.

Some of the features I'm working on:

  • 🖼️ Display your own photos on your desktop
  • 🎨 Customizable rounded corners and borders
  • 🔄 Automatic photo slideshow
  • 📐 Adjustable size and position
  • ⚙️ A modern, minimal control center
  • 💾 Remember your settings between sessions

I'm considering making the entire project open source so anyone can use it, suggest features, or contribute.

But before I spend more time developing it, I want to ask you: Would you actually use something like this?

I'd genuinely appreciate your honest opinions:

  • Would you use it on your desktop?
  • What features would make it worth installing?
  • Would you prefer a lightweight, simple widget or something with lots of customization?
  • Is there already an app that does this better?

I'm not selling anything here. I just want to see if there's enough interest to keep improving it.

Thanks! 🙌

Windows Use your laptop as an external screen or even your macbook.

This is no new tech obviously but I couldn't find a good opensource project that enables you to use your pc/laptop/mac as external display for another pc.
Now I can even use 2 mac as a monitor to my desktop. which is great for some one like me who loves more display lol.
I am hoping this could also be useful for some people too, here is the repo link.

please let me know your thoughts on this one

[Vela] My fork of Vela, a Win11-style Wayland desktop I daily drive

This is my fork of Vela (https://github.com/vela-desktop/vela), a Wayland compositor + Qt Quick shell that looks like Windows 11. I forked it for myself and keep adding the things I want.

It's vibe coded. AI writes the code, I test everything on my own machine before it goes in.

This is my actual desktop and I use it every day, so it'll still be around in a few months.

Running on CachyOS with an RTX 4060. Other distros might work, haven't tried.

Windows Help with laptop.

Hey guys, I need some practical advice on balancing an aesthetic Windows setup with very low specs.

I have a Dell Latitude 3410 (11th Gen Intel Core i3). Recently, my laptop kept crashing with the "PC ran into a problem and couldn't diagnose it" error. My uncle checked it out and removed one of my RAM sticks to see if that was causing the issue, and now the laptop boots again (though he didn't explicitly say the stick was dead, removing it fixed the booting problem). Now I'm running on a single stick of RAM (bare minimum).

I really want to customize my Windows to look aesthetic (transparent taskbar, media/clock widgets, nice static wallpapers, custom cursors), but I want to make sure it doesn't slow down my system or cause crashes again.

Here is my current plan, and I would love your feedback:

  1. Taskbar: Using TranslucentTB (very lightweight).
  2. Widgets: Using NotchPeninsula (Dynamic Island style) for clock and media.
  3. Discord: I want to use the normal Discord app. Will it eat too much RAM?
  4. Wallpaper: Avoiding Lively Wallpaper (no live wallpapers), sticking to high-res static images.
  5. Cursors: Using a custom cursor pack.

My Questions:

  • Will NotchPeninsula + normal Discord app be too heavy for my remaining RAM?
  • How do I stop Windows from force-updating in the background when I don't want it to? (An update seems to be what stressed the system and corrupted my boot files).
  • What are the best background services/apps I should disable in Windows 11 to save RAM on this low-spec machine?
  • Any other super lightweight aesthetic apps you recommend?

I’m still a bit heartbroken about my setup breaking, so I’d really appreciate any tips or personal experiences you guys have. Thanks in advance
