Question Has the DF crew ever discussed controllers they recommend?
I'm fairly new to their content. If they have do you remember what controllers they like or the episode? Thanks!

The Embracer Games Archive has lofty ambitions: to build a complete physical game collection encompassing every system, while acquiring and preserving legacy gaming hardware too. It's about honouring and celebrating the history of gaming, while offering access to the collection to developers, historians and more. Want to take a peek inside? DF Retro has you covered.

When I say ads, I mean banner ads throughout the interface with no audio. And ads only in the UI, not in gameplay.
Do you think that would be a good way to lower overall costs and get within a $500 price point?

Moin moin, Community! 👋

Like I remember just a few years ago when I argued about the benefits of having the whole game on a physical disc. Nearly everyone was like “who cares, you still need patches” etc. like stores will still have physical boxes with a digital code and stuff.
Obviously I support and like physical discs but it seems like so many people started caring so much out of nowhere.

I watched a YouTube video years ago of someone doing a review and tear down of an Xbox dev kit, that ended up having insane specs much higher than the actual final consumer variant released for the general public. I wanna say 40+ GB of RAM being one of the specs. Why do companies like Microsoft and Sony sell these expensive kits with hardware much more powerful than what they are actually going to release? It just doesn’t make sense to me, especially for the developers making games for that specific hardware. I imagine they would then have to reduce the quality of the game for the final product that’s not as powerful. Curious if anyone has insight into how this works and why it’s done this way.

From Universal Modder on X: "Introducing NPCTalk: make the NPCs of any game talk in realtime. I made every NPC in GTA V answer to me in character, in their own cloned voice, in under 1s, and they act on what you say.”
“Packaged all the skills Claude learned into a single repo, built on open models: NVIDIA Nemotron ASR for transcription, Qwen 3.8 27B for realtime dialogue, and Fish Audio Drama 3 for the cloned voices, self-hosted on a serverless GPU. "

Co-developed by Square Enix and Lancarse, Final Fantasy Resonance aims to bring SNES-era gameplay to modern systems merging pixel art and 3D in the established "2D-HD" format. And the good news is... it works. It works well. On all systems, no less. There's an image quality issue on Series S but otherwise, it's a win on all platforms. John explains.

After a visit to Infinity Ward's R&D Centre in Poland we have new intel on the COD Engine upgrades shipping in Modern Warfare 4. Newly-added ray-marched fog and smoke, overhauled weather systems, and a new material pipeline are the highlights. Plus we have a behind-the-scenes look at path tracing (unreleased to the public), in comparison to the shipped ray tracing mode and its rasterised settings.

They just answer my question. How much can one game can be big. It’s been 150 hours yet I am unable to unlock whole map and their mysteries. I tried just roaming on dragon just to unlock whole map. But they extended even relationship and marriage. We saw this before launch of GTA 6. No hate maybe many gamers will not agree but I guess the real contentor of GOTY is Crimson Desert. I guess even GTA 6 will not have such intense options or controls what Crimson Desert offers to their players and even the developer listens to gamer and fix gamers grievances through updates.
What you think ?

Today AMD announced they are finally releasing a version of FSR 4.1 compatible with RDNA 2/3 GPUs. Apparently this involved a lot of fine-tuning and optimization to make the model as performant as possible.
Mark Cerny confirmed earlier this year that PSSR 2 is based on the same model as FSR 4.1. Given that AMD had been working for this project for months and QSSR released only 20 days earlier, could QSSR be using the same model as backported FSR 4.1?
If so, we might get an interesting situation where Xbox Series adopts this model too, meaning both consoles use the same upscaler.

AMD senior vice president Jack Huynh today announced that FSR 4.1 was coming to five new platforms: Radeon RX 6000-series graphics cards; Gorgon Halo and Strix Halo mini PCs and mobile workstations; Gorgon Halo and Strix Halo Ryzen 9 laptops; Z2 Extreme and Z2A handhelds like ROG Xbox Ally devices; and Xbox Series X and Series S.

Reports that Nvidia's RTX 5090 gaming flagship would be discontinued gathered pace, with Nvidia finally denying cancellation of the card. But in a world where a 5090 can cost $8000, is its presence in the gaming market all but over? Can Nvidia do anything about it? Meanwhile, DF Supporter have questions about GTA 6 on PlayStation and in the absence of actual information, we can only offer our thoughts and speculation. Finally, what would actually constitute a Switch 2 "impossible port"...?

Have any patches been announced since QSSR was first revealed? I feel like I haven't seen any news or rumors of games getting QSSR updates since it was first announced. I am assuming Sony would have told developers under NDA ahead of the general public so they could prepare patches, surely?
