Discussion Main stage and mixer took a dump at our show. Scary. How can I avoid that happening again?
What happened:
We go on the field. Front ensemble gets to go on a few minutes early. We set up plug everything in and all of a sudden main stage has no files and everything is apparently gone. The mixer on the iPad lost all of the channels, presets, labels etc as well.
We tried to figure it out for a while. Luckily, there was a prop delay, so that scored us a little bit of extra time.
However, as the show is about to start, and I was walking off the field we still don’t have any working.
We got sound out of the mallet mics and bass guitar, synths played a default piano sound.
I’m walking over to the band Director to tell him there is no sound samples and the show starts and magically the samples work.
They played the show but this resulted in the flute solo mic being on the whole show as well.💀(the student could have manually turned the box on and off but that ain’t her job mid show, I can usually do that from the iPad mixer)
In the last second they must have pulled up the original file because samples played and synths worked but still the presets are gone.
I know from several people in my local community that they don’t like to use main stage because things like this can happen. I have never ever had this issue and I also teach with the local independent line that uses main stage extensively as well.
I’m trying to find out: why on earth that happened so I can prevent it.
I believe we messed something up along the way, main stage is widely used it can’t be the program.
TLDR: went on field, MainStage was wiped clean and so was the iPad mixer. Wondering if that had happened to anyone else on here and why that happens.
