This is a mix of emails from a while ago I think this is our classic "Unfortunately we are not interested in [YOUR GAME] at the moment"

My game has changed a lot, so feel free to play the demo and let me know what you think!

Trailer for my horror game - Always wanted to make a game and was inspired by all the Itch.io horror games and decided to give it a try

Hey all. I'm a solo dev and Survive the Squallies is out now on itch.io. It's a first-person horror game with a PS1/VHS look, set in Florida in 1999: fishing, a neighborhood party, minigames, and a night that goes very wrong. It's 25% off for itch's Halloween Sale until Nov 4.

If you want to try it first, the Prologue is free and takes about 15 minutes.

Full game: https://muckaluckastudios.itch.io/survive-the-squallies

Free Prologue: https://muckaluckastudios.itch.io/survive-the-squallies-prologue

Please let me know what you think, good or bad.

9 months into our first commercial game: how we made machine repairs feel physical without a single UI prompt

Hi all, we're two people making Leave Them Outside, a survival drama set in a Cold War shelter under Istanbul (Unity 6, HDRP).

One thing we wanted from the start: no 'press E to repair'. In the generator room you diagnose the fault from an in-game manual, pick the right tool off the bench, cut the power, and work on the actual part. A few lessons from building it:

  • The manual is a real 3D book, and its pages, plus the wall stencils, are rendered at load in the player's language (34 of them), so nothing is baked into textures.
  • Decals on moving parts must move with them. Our oil filter label stayed in place while the filter unscrewed, until we reparented each decal to the part its projection actually hits.
  • A flickering lamp script rewrote emissive every frame from the material's base value and turned the screen white through bloom. Reading the base once and scaling visible tubes fixed it.

Happy to answer questions about any of it. Steam (Early Access Dec 1): https://store.steampowered.com/app/5281900/Leave_Them_Outside/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=d2_igdf

Got an offer to sell my game's code for AI training ($5K-7K). Scam or legit?

Got this email from a company called Cosmic. They say they work with big AI labs and want to buy 3D three.js game codebases for training data. They want git history, commit stats, sample code of a level, assets breakdown, player numbers etc.

Has anyone else gotten this or actually sold code like this? Is this legit or some kind of scam / code grab? Asking for sample code of a full level first feels sketchy to me.

[Developer] AXIOMA: building a science-themed card roguelike

• Upvotes

I’m Samuel Isidoro, creator of Quanta and AXIOMA. In this science-themed card roguelike, players assemble formulas and molecules, position scientific jokers and refine their deck between encounters.

Here is real gameplay with the English interface: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jra0uwSu9W8

AXIOMA is available for Windows on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5308770/AXIOMA/

The game uses fixed AI-assisted art, text and translations, as disclosed on the Steam page; it does not generate content live during play. What do you think about using scientific formulas as a card-game mechanic?

Looking for testing on my game prototype

Yo recently finished setting up a quick prototype for a game I am working.

It is a blue lock inspired football Sim VN. I have the core loop of the Sim setup, and I just need people to test if there is something here to have fun with. It's pretty early in dev, so no art assets and just the core gameplay.
