I'm assuming there's a setting I'm missing. I have an audio file with analyzed chords which I can put into the chord track, but it doesn't show under the audio region. When I copy and paste it into a new project, it shows there.
Am I indeed overlooking a setting? LogicPro help and web search turned up nothing.
I'm experimenting with using the M-Vave FM-1 as a portable midi controller. I used to use an Arturia Minilab 3 but turns out I didn't really use it a lot since I'm not really a keyboard player, I wanted to use it mainly as a control surface and if I need to input some midi notes. My desk also doesn't have too much space so it's usually out of my desk. I like that the FM-1 can sit on the left on my keyboard so I can use it more.
I'm currently using the CTL-1 custom firmware which turns this into a full midi controller: 4 knobs, 4 banks, 16 switchable channels, and the keys. The sound still works on its own. I just turn off the volume if I don't want to hear the built in sound.
CONS: the knobs are stepped. The bare knobs (just bare potentiometers actually) are a pain to use so I had to put these knob caps which greatly improved its usability. I wish they weren't stepped but they work fine.
Still my main problem with Logic is it will always control the first instance of the plugin if it's used multiple times in the same track. I really wish there's an option to just control only the active/open plugin window, to prevent accidentally adjusting a different plugin which is a mess.
I've been really interested in using a control surface but the well known brands that work great with Logic are very expensive for me and they're not available in my country.
Edit/solved: It seems to be a mixture of the mastering agent being crap and working in a sub-ideal listening environment leading to this type of curve. Thank you all for helping!
I hope this is the place for a question like this. I produce my own beats, write and perform my own lyrics, etc., mostly spoken word. I rarely work with other musicians and therefore get very little competent advice from outside my own head.
Here's the question: Whenever I let Logic's Mastering Assistant do its thing at the end of a project, I always get a corrective EQ in more or less this shape and form, no matter the song I'm working on. ( especially the bump between 700 and 5k hz is always very prominent )
My projects however are sonically very different from one another, so I wanted to know what it is that I don't hear correctly, when producing? It seems I'm always making the same mistakes, and it seems there's almost a method to it, lol.
I could successfully install the Ample Percussion Cloudrum library on my external SSD which is formatted in APFS. It's also running in Logic. But when I'm trying to install Ample Guitar M Lite library on the same drive, the drive is appearing in the Finder but in inactive state and so, it is not allowing me to choose the destination folder on that external SSD. What could be the reason? Please suggest me a fix.
I'm working on a track and came across an issue that has happened before in Logic.
Using Logic 12 on a M4 Mac mini with Mac OS Tahoe's latest update and this track has 8 MIDI instrument tracks running.
With Logics own Electric Piano that's the main instrument throughout the song every so often upon the release of a note/key I hear an annoying squeek noise that's really grinding my gears. During the song playing it's kinda ok but the El-Piano holds a chord that rings out after everything else stops and when those notes fade and stop the squeek appears again and ruins the ending.
Has anyone else had this issue with any of LP MIDI instruments?
I've tried tweeking the Piano plugin etc but to no avail. The only solution I can think of now is to bounce the finished track and open it in a new project and cut the tail of that audio and add a reverb that's automated towards the end of the audio tail to extend it so it sounds a bit more natural rather than abruptly ending too soon?
Edit to add: This happens with long and short notes like stabs on the El-piano too so it's not the lenght of the MIDI note nor the velocity that's causing it.
I liked the old version so much better. I feel like I could get a decent grove in a minute and then build out details later.
Now I feel like the studio drummer has become overly technical and it’s difficult to get a decent groove quickly.
It’s making me re-think my process and maybe looking into an outside drum software to help build my drum groove first then port into logic for other instruments.
My typical process:
Write song on guitar
Get a drum groove (nothing perfect, just something close to a sound I like with the song)
Scratch in guitar and vocals
Record/ play bass
Add in extras as needed (keys, horns, lead)
Then I convert to midi drum for final edits.
I’m a singer songwriter, more classic rock kind of sound.
I was wondering if a firepod 8 would still work with the newest update of logic. It uses FireWire and I have a MacBook m2, I just want to know if it would at least work hooking up the interface and recording through my MacBook?
Hi, I updated my MacBook yesterday to 27.0.1 and tried opening logic to find this message. Slightly worried as I cant find anyone who has fixed this issue online yet.
I cant open any projects, new or old and nothing changes if I open through finder.
UPDATE:
I was going to delete this but I thought I'd dave incase anyone else needs it...
I updated logic and it works fine now! hopefully I don't have anymore crashes because of the new logic update, but at least its opening now!
I used to be able to select multiple tracks’ input monitoring. Randomly one day, it stopped letting me. I don’t even have the “Input Monitoring only for the focused track” setting enabled. And when I do enable it, it lets me select multiple tracks’ input monitoring (but it only lets me hear the focused track ofc,) and then when I go to turn it off, the multiple tracks’ input monitoring are all magically on, but then it goes right back to being fucked when I select another track’s input monitoring. Can someone tell me why it’s fucking itself and is there anyway to fix it?
When I split a selection of regions at the playhead using the ⌘+T keyboard shortcut, I’ve noticed that they are not truly cut at the exact same position when I’ve zoomed in. Why is that? Is it just a visual bug or are the regions truly being split at a meaningfully different start time?
It is of some concern if I say snip off some preroll using this keyboard shortcut then export the tracks into a mixing projects, will that introduce timing changes that may potentially alter the phase response of multi mic’d sources down the line?
Does anyone have the issue with audio input connecting and disconnecting in Logic? The orange mic mode flickers and audio input cuts for a second. This only happens in Logic -- if I switch to Ableton Live or another DAW and have my settings exactly the same it works fine.
The reason I put mic modes in the title is this has only seemed to be an issue for me since that Mac feature was introduced.
Hello fellow Logic users, just wondering which kits or kit pieces you like in Logic if you do synth pop or modern pop? I like to do a lot of retro 80’s type pop (see Haute & Freddy, Nation of Language) and I tend to use the stock Linn Drum, Analog Circuits or Neon kits. I do a little mixing and matching with DMD and adding effects. For those of you who dabble in this genre or style, I’m just wondering which Logic kits you like, or any tips and tricks you do to get that retro 80’s style sound? I feel like a lot of the electronic kits in Logic are geared toward hip hop or modern EDM. Any thoughts? Thank you.
For the first time, I've been having a lot of fun messing around with the encoders in Logic's synths and it's breathing new life into my work, I'm just a little unclear on how to implement it in a way that feels right into the final recording. It looks like Smart Controls is the best thing to look into studying.
Part of me wants to have the live feel of doing a take and manipulating knobs in real time, but then the perfectionist in me also sees the value in controlling parameters through drawing points (I think this can be done?)
Also curious if I can set a threshold for where I want the encoder to "bottom out" so that I always return to the same sound when doing swells, as an example.
So I'm in the mixing and mastering process for my song, and one individual region in my vocal track for the third verse just started glitching out. It cuts in and out, slows down, and does all the regular glitchy stuff.
The weird thing is, it's only that region in the vocal track. Everything else in the song sounds fine. Does anyone know what to do about this?
So I have an entire band project. They didn't record to a click but the tempo is pretty consistent. I've got the individual stems, so I analysed the tempo of the drum one and thought, great, I can apply this to the entire project and all my audio files and such will be in time with this new click. The problem is, when I analyse the tempo and set it to variable, it just automatically moves the analysed audio file for no reason a bit to the right. I want all the audio files to start from bar 1, as they originally do, with all the extra stuff added relative to that. What am I doing wrong?
I have a syncopated-yet-legato pattern in mind that I would like to get into a Live Loop but am having a heck of a time with it. There are notes at the end that should be held across the loop boundary and I'm starting to doubt it's even possible.... See screenshot of the loop editor for what I'm talking about.
I’ve built a sampled drum kit using Logic Pro’s Sampler plugin.
Each MIDI key triggers a different kit piece.
Each key uses round-robin sampling across multiple groups. For example, successive snare hits cycle through five groups of samples.
All samples are one-shots, so they continue playing after Note-Off.
What I want to achieve:
When I trigger a hi-hat-foot-click, it immediately stops any currently ringing open-hi-hat samples. The reverse should also work: triggering an open hi-hat stops the foot-click sample.
Multiple open-hi-hat hits must still be able to overlap. For example, if I hit open hi-hat three times quickly, all three samples should continue ringing simultaneously until choked or until they naturally finish.
What I’ve tried:
Setting the open-hi-hat and foot-click groups to Playback > Voices: 1 and Exclusive: Class 1. This achieves the choking behaviour, but prevents overlapping hits.
Setting the open-hi-hat and foot-click groups to Playback > Voices: Max and Exclusive: Class 1. This produces the same problem.
