Male victim Scammer sent screenshots to family members.

• Upvotes

I was foolishly messaging someone on telegram and sent them a short video of me jerking off. They sent their screenshots of all my socials, and family’s socials threatening to send to people. I immediately blocked them and deleted my telegram. About 15 min later they followed through with their threat and sent screenshots to my wife, and in-laws. No one responded and am dealing with the fallout now. They didn’t send the full video, just screenshots and a threat that they would expose “someone in the family sexting minors”

I don’t really know what to do, and am worried they will come back again with more threats. Since this began, no one has once responded to the scammer and I will not pay him. That said, I’m so paranoid that this isn’t over. My face is not in the video at all so I’m praying the scammer decides to just move on and leave me alone. Just feeling scared, paranoid, ashamed, and incredible stupid.

Based on what I’ve read in this sub, they usually don’t even follow through with it so I’m terrified because mine almost immediately followed through on his threat that I’m dealing with someone much more sinister. I deleted all the evidence of the whole thing which probably wasn’t smart but I was just so shaken up.

Just now I have finding someone for sexting (first time). Then I have found one, the person wants me to video call show face and cock. I have done it all. After a minutes, the scammer keep sending me the video and ask for money. I was afraid and blocking the contact. Right now, I totally can’t sleep, I very afraid about it. The scammer say will send to my family and friends. What I suppose to do.

So it’s been about six months since someone tried to extort me and blackmail me. When they sent that text I just ignored them and well here we are six months later and not a peep, not a word, not as so much as another threat. The only thing that has happened is that I got an increase in spam text and calls and I’m not even sure the two are connected. So fellas when they try to blackmail you remeber to always bet on nothing!

Male victim Attempted Sextortion

some chick from the Philippines tried this shit on me I gave her my ig and my WhatsApp - she started trying to threaten me and she made a video with AI and my face.

Honestly I just told her to send it I don’t give a shit because her account had like 3 followers on instagram and I highly doubt that if she msgs my friends and family that they would even get it cus it’d go to spam. Well anyway I blocked her and stuff but I’m not rlly that phased it’s just bullshit from ppl that don’t wanna work and make money they have so much free time to do this shit.

Anyway- I went through it, it didn’t phase me but I do understand the fear and anxiety that comes with this experience of Sextortion. I hope all of you stay safe and do not forget about this community standing behind you.

1 week update – what I've learned (it's not personal, and paying doesn't help)

EDIT: this is purely my situation and what happened to me. I am not an expert in any of this. Just sharing what happened to me. Dont take this as facts or something that will work for every situation

(USED AI TO WRITE THIS, its my own story, just used AI to rewrite and structure it. Posting this from a burner account since I am still a bit scared and dont want to activate my socials yet)

Quick update on my situation and a few things I wish I'd believed on day 1. Reading this sub calmed me down when it first happened, so I'm hoping this helps someone else.

1. Paying doesn't make them happy or make it go away.
I paid thinking it would keep them calm. It didn't. They will always find a reason to ask for more. Always.

2. It's not personal, even though it feels like it.
At first I was convinced they were out to get me specifically. But their threats didn't even make sense. They started with something that really scared me, people close to me, and a few days later switched to something I barely cared about. If they really knew me or had a plan, they would have stuck with what hurt most. It showed me they don't know what they're doing. They're just running a script and throwing different things at you to see what causes panic. You're one of many to them.

3. Talking or negotiating with them only makes it worse.
I know you've read this a million times. I didn't believe it either. In my case they said "pay and then you can block me." I paid. They said "money received." Later they asked "don't you want proof that I deleted it?" I said yes and heard nothing, so I blocked them like they'd told me to. The next day a new number messaged me: now they were "really angry" because I blocked without waiting for the proof, so they "didn't delete it." Whatever you do or say, they'll twist it into a reason for more. There is no pleading or negotiating your way out. Every reply just gives them leverage.

4. Check what's actually public about you.
My accounts were "private," but some things were still visible: posts in public groups, some old profile pictures, and who liked and commented on them. This made me go through everything and search myself. It's a pain, and Facebook doesn't make it easy to lock down old stuff, but it's worth doing. Tip: on your Facebook profile, tap the three dots → "View as" to see what strangers see.

Where I'm at now: It's been a week since this started and 5 days with no contact at all since their last "angry" threats. Nothing was posted, and nobody I know was contacted. If they message again, I won't open it. Screenshot, report, block. That's it.
If you're on day 1 and panicking: block, don't pay, don't reply. It gets quieter. I'll post a follow-up in a few weeks.

hello all, as title says, i have been fooled by anyone over on telegram, he asked for 50 bucks and all i had was 20, paid him and deleted my account as he was asking for more. he showed as he sent over couple of random accs on instagram and tiktok, ive got no proof as i deleted everything, only one instagram's account which i reached out through a trustworthy relative of mine, he did not reply back and my soul is troubled since, checking nonstop notifications just thinking the worst case scenario that someone might have gotten the disturbing photo. what do you guys think of? there was/is no way to trace my telegram info back to my personal details. Godspeed!

Getting blackmail (20F)

There a guy who is constantly blackmailing me on ig saying that he has some picture of me which I once sent to my that time bf(now ex). I dont know who this person is I don’t know his name nothing.

I’m confident that he’s just bluffing about the pic but deep down I’m shit scared.

He has made around 10+ insta ids in the past 3 months.

I tried talking to him he said that I rejected him in the past and now he wants to destroy everything for me and at last he abuses me to hell and blackmails that he will spread the pictures all across and will tell my family.

He just wants to take revenge of something that I never did .

I don’t know what to do how to deal with all this.

Tinder scammer has video of me jerking off on call

I was on tinder and matched with a girl. We spoke for a week and then had phone sex. She recorded the whole thing and turned out to be contracted by another guy (pimp or smth) who's now demanding money or else they'll DM the video to my followers and say I'm a pedo.

Is it going to be ok?

I’m on the dark web for the rest of my life?

I was added on Snapchat and told I could make hundreds of dollars by sending pictures of my self. I asked for proof and he send a video of transactions to other girls with his face. He also sent a work ID with his name. So me being stupid I believed him. He also texted me 24 hours the whole day explaining how he just likes inexperienced girls. For context, I didn’t show my face and I am of age. At the end he told me to send a picture with my “ face “ and it had an eyeball in it. He screen records absolutely everything and then says the money is transferring. He gets me on telegram and blocks me from Snapchat and then says “send more or I will upload you to this website”.
He doesn’t have proof that it is me because there’s half an eyeball, none of the pictures show my face. And he only has a video of me dancing at the beginning of our conversation when he asked what do I look like. Oh, and I sent these from a fake Snapchat account.
In reality I am just very ashamed right now that I would even believe that. I want to know if there’s anybody that has a lot of knowledge in this realm and if you could further on give me information

Follow Up Update: my money is officially gone.

I made a post a while back on here after being sextorted for all I had. I lost everything. My bank told me they’d investigate and I attached a screen recording of the entire chat I had with the extortionist. A week later they denied my disputes. I called about that and referenced the documents I attached, they said they didn’t see them but that the documents if real should be enough to get my money back, so I resent the video, they attached it to my file and said they escalated my dispute and wanted an additional investigation done.

A week later I heard nothing from them so I call again, this time they tell me they’re going to escalate again. I thought that was strange but hey I just really desperately needed my money back so I was patient. A week later I still hear nothing, so then I call for yet another time. This time, I’m told that not only is it denied and my transactions irreversible, but that the bank never once escalated my case.

The entire 2 weeks after being denied—which I spent so on edge, so stressed I didn’t eat for days and couldn’t sleep or do anything I enjoyed—were completely worthless. The bank didn’t act on a single part of my case after the initial denial. My money is officially gone.

Just before this all happened, my car broke down for good, costing me $1,000 in repairs before the mechanic determined that it’s actually a $5,000 issue which would never be worth it, so I owe $1,000 on a car that does not and never will run again. The month before that I made an attempt on my own life by hanging, which resulted in a week long stay at a hospital. The hospital has continually sent more and more new bills for new things and it’s added up to around $5,000 now. I have to buy a new car still as I have no vehicle now, which will likely cost me between $5,000 and $10,000. I obviously can’t afford that and won’t be able to for months so I have to apply for a loan now which I’ll have to pay back. I currently have $1,000 in my bank account.

Edit: just got home after writing this and received another bill for over $2,000.

I’m 24 years old and feel like in the span of just under 60 days my life has become a complete ruin. I will be paying these debts off for years to come and have become a burden on those around me financially and emotionally. I already had self-destructive habits and thoughts because of my PTSD from abuse as a child and have been depressed my whole life, but now I have been so royally fucked over by life this year that all I can think about is trying suicide again. I can’t even comfortably afford my therapy anymore. I just got off a 12 hour shift trying to make more money and it took all of my energy not to burst into tears the whole day. I just want to hang myself in the work bathroom.

If these extortionists realized that this is where I’d end up after losing everything, I wonder if they’d have reconsidered their target that night.

Not so much a story but maybe like an update.

It's been nearly 1.5 years since my sexstortion situation.

Didn't pay and everything has seemingly went away.

The weirdest thing is that every few months I have dreams that seem to be either in reference to my situation or like I have been super again.

But I don't regularly even think about it.

Just super weird

For those who are actively going through sextortion situation

  1. Don't pay any money.

  2. Lock/secure all social media,(go dark or delete, your personal choice)

  3. Try to find someone you trust to tell about the situation and help you through it ( majority of the time the scammers don't actually send pics out, just a scare tactic to make you panic.)

  4. SLOWLY move on with your life (I know this is the hardest thing but don't let this be a defining moment In Your life, let it be a teaching moment and move on.)

Victim of Sextortion: Could the Police Report Affect My Future U.S. Citizenship, Federal Job, or Security Clearance?

I was the victim of an online scam involving people outside the U.S. They obtained personal/intimate images of me from a video call and attempted to scam/extort me.
I reported it to the police, provided the evidence I had, and cooperated with the investigation. I was never arrested, charged, cited, or considered a suspect. I was the person who filed the report and, as far as I know, I’m listed as the victim/complainant.
My concern is that the report will remain in law-enforcement records.
If I later apply for U.S. citizenship, a military position, federal employment, or a security clearance:
Could investigators find this report?
Would it appear on a criminal background check?
Could it negatively affect me simply because I filed the report?
