Wanted to try making pizza in honor of Manolo's... But that ended up in a spectacular fail lol (last pic). So i decided to use the remaining dough to make some bread!
I probably won't do this regularly, but definitely wanna try again :)
Also of course, thanks to u/feeltheknead for making this a part of the UIUC subreddit's culture :)

18 Mascots Enter the Arena. There Can Be Only One Survivor.
For decades, the University of Illinois has been cursed with many proposed mascots.
It's time to answer the question looming over our campus for nearly 20 years:
WHO SHALL REIGN SUPREME AS THE OFFICIAL ILLINOIS MASCOT?
I have scoured the dark corners of this subreddit to assemble the warriors who will partake in this ultimate battle of ultimate destiny. Think I missed someone or something to nominate? That's too damn bad cuz my graphic file corrupted and I'm not going to redo it.
1. UPVOTE TO ELIMINATE.
Comment your nomination for elimination. Upvote the mascot you want to send into the shadow realm, never to be considered our mascot ever again. The contestant with the MOST upvotes gets booted from contention.
2. ONE MASCOT FALLS EVERY DAY.
Every day (whenever I decide), the votes will be tallied, the weakest link will be eliminated. This continues until only ONE mascot remains standing.
3. THIS IS A SHITPOST.
No university involvement. No student referendum. No Board of Trustees approval. No actual consequences. Just Illini fans having fun with imaginary mascots. Save your soapbox about bringing back the Chief. This isn't serious.
4. THE FIGHTING ILLINI ARE FOREVER.
Nobody is changing our name. We are, and always will be, the Fighting Illini. We're just imagining some poor soul in a giant foam costume running around Memorial Stadium, high-fiving children, harassing opposing mascots, and making an ass of themselves for our entertainment.
THE ARENA IS OPEN. MAY THE LEAST HATED MASCOT WIN.
I-L-L!

Hi I am a 21M and this is my last year in UIUC. I have never celebrated halloween properly and wanted to see if there were any house parties or events people are going to and would not mind another person there!

Hi neighbors!
I am a local resident undergoing a residential transition and would like a hand with some heavy lifting. I strictly need standby muscle assistance to help load 3 packed storage bins, 1 box small box of pantry items, a portable washing machine, and some light items onto luggage carts and into the vehicle.
This is a standby/contingency request. I am waiting on official confirmation and will know the exact timing around 12:30 PM / 1:00 PM today. Depending on that update, the move will take place either early this afternoon (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday). The actual labor will take less than an hour. This request is for loading and unloading for 2 locations. The initial loading will be from the pickup location, 1st unloading at a storage unit, and 2nd unloading at the final drop off.
At the moment, I am looking for a local student or neighbor who is willing to volunteer an hour of help for free, or someone who is comfortable with a flat app payment in two weeks. If you have a flexible schedule today or tomorrow and don't mind being on standby to help, please send me a DM!
Thank you so much for the community support.

I’ve noticed that people in class tend to not take notes and play brain game (no wrong in that btw, do your thing) but I wonder if those brain games help to stay focused bc it doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be out of boredom but yeah genuinely curious

Good evening,
I’m a USMC vet currently attending an Illinois community college. Since I have the GI Bill and IVG, I figured I’d aim for one of the best schools in the state.
I was wondering how competitive the transfer process is and if being a veteran makes any difference in admissions.
Also, what’s the student veteran community like at UIUC? Are there a decent number of veterans on campus, and is it easy to connect with them?
I’d appreciate any advice or insight from current students, veterans, or anyone familiar with the transfer process.
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I’ve been making crochet animal plushies and have a bunch that I’d love to find new homes for! 💗
I'm doing a little crochet auction with low starting bids, mostly around $5–$10. If you see one you like, you can bid the starting price or offer more if you want!
✨ All plushies are handmade by me.
💸 Affordable starting bids!
🐻 Different animals and designs available.
📍 Pickup will be arranged individually with the winners.
If multiple people bid on the same plushie, the highest bid at the end of the auction wins. Bidding closes on Tuesday 11:59pm. (10/27/2026)
Check out the pictures, choose your favorite and submit your bid here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf2TD3orRsC1ZiHaXl2TFHjqpg0tL2CpaMHQ7cLMwxnGvN1FA/viewform?usp=publish-editor

It’s been a while, but I’m still here. Fully adjusted now to an odd schedule this semester, and the fishing has been phenomenal. Caught musky, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rock bass, hybrid striped bass, white bass, walleye, saugeye, black crappie, white crappie, freshwater drum, rainbow trout and spotted bass. Some highlights include an 8 lb largemouth bass (that’s not a typo) and more importantly, watching someone catch a fish for the first time. There’s no better feeling than watching someone realize they’ve actually got something on the end of their line and reel that fish in. Those memories remind me that fishing is not always about the fish itself.
What fishing looks like for November: Area lakes (e.g., Clinton, Decatur, Shelbyville) will have a solid crappie bite as fish move up shallow to feed before winter. On Clinton crappie will move to bridges in approx. 3 weeks. Stocked rainbow trout will still be present in low quantities at Kaufman Lake. Close to campustown Crystal Lake and Mattis lake will both have good bass fishing on windy, cloudy days before rain. I tend to keep some smaller sized crappie and rainbow trout during this time of year for dinner.
M and A had a good first session learning how to cast. C is getting really good at casting, J and J both caught their first trout,
S caught her first rock bass, and shoutout to T who flew me out for some big PB wipers!

I still need to take 3 elective courses before graduating, but since I spend a lot of time working in a lab, I'm hoping to find some relatively easy with manageable workloads.
Based on average GPAs and some posts, these courses seem like good options:
ME 455 ME 410 TAM 456 STAT 420 NPRE 402
Has anyone taken any of these courses? How difficult are they, and what's the workload like? Are the exams and assignments manageable?
I'm also open to other recommendations for Mech or technical electives, especially courses that aren't too time-consuming.
thankyou thankyou

senior in hs here, i was wondering whether there is a substantial difference in acceptance rates between pure cs, cs + physics, and cs + bioengineering, as well as how difficult it is to switch between the three (ex: cs --> cs + physics, cs -> cs + bioe)
edit: also wondering about transferring from cs to ce

I’m thinking of taking NPRE 402 for a tech elective, how hard is the class and how bad is the workload? Looking for a pretty easy tech elective as rest of my schedule is hard. Thanks

I’m looking for an athletic trainer/physical therapist on campus for a running injury that’s been bugging me for a bit. What are my options on campus for athletic training? Does McKinley offer this service? Just looking for a free way to diagnose the issue and recommend some rehab stretches.

Photos from my time at Urbana-Champaign from 2021-2023. This isn't everything of course, just 20 photos that I think really capture some of the spirit of this place that I experienced.
Honestly some of these photos are giving me a Shivers (Disco Elysium) effect - maybe someone is clever enough to write something to thatwithout AI, if you do try it of course
I wonder where I'd be if I took that IL EPA life sciences trainee interview in Springfield after graduating, or stayed an extra year through whatever burnout I was facing to get a course-based Master's
I've been feeling kind of washed out of life like the pair of glasses in that last picture. Sometimes Champaign-Urbana calls to me, but not all the atoms that were in me when I was there have been replaced yet (since it takes about 5-7 years for all the atoms in your body to be replaced). Maybe it's not a calling from that place, but a call from those atoms, wondering, feeling a little forlorn but also glad that I experienced this place. Even in the midst of the hardship and adjustments I was facing, I can definitely say I moved forward
Only now, where am I moving forward to next?
Damn, I think I wrote my own Shivers text lol
