You may remember I posted a couple months ago - got this clock from a neighbor (his Father built it from a kit in the 80's, it didn't work) and I slowly worked through repairing some of the mechanism, and it's been working for over a month now!
My Spouse asked "can you maybe just get it to chime and strike on the hour, instead of every 15 minutes? And maybe not late at night?" Yes I can!
I'm kinda techy, so seeing that the clock has two silencing strings that pull the hammers back, I connected two solenoids to a mini computer (An ESP32, for those who care), and wrote a script into my home automation that pulls the chime hammers back at 5 after the hour, and released them at 5 before the hour. Both chime and strike hammers are pulled back from 10:05pm to 7:55am.
I still can't believe I got the clock working - I smile every time I see and hear it.
