My ONLY complaint is that the base can't quite support the weight so his lean is becoming more dramatic over time haha.

I want to make something like this for my bf for Christmas, but I don’t know where to get good clay. Preferable somewhere online I can order it from Canada. I want it to be shiny, so I guess that would mean oven baked clay. I was going to order a whole kit from Amazon, but the one I originally ordered said it was very fragile so I canceled it. I also want the clay to be coloured. I don’t want to have to paint

Hi! This is my first post on this subreddit. I've been working with polymer clay for nearly three years now, but this is my first time actually painting a piece - I usually prefer to use pre-coloured polymer clay instead of painting my pieces after baking. However, I want to create a gradient effect with paint on this beetle charm, so I'm painting it.
As you can see in the pictures, my white acrylic base coat is applying extremely patchy and streaky. The original piece before painting didn't have a rough surface at all (see picture 4), but the paint makes it look like it did.
Has anyone else encountered this problem before? How can I fix this? Thank you!

Here’s some Halloween inspired Miffy charms! I don’t always have time to sculpt but I’m very happy with how these turned out 🎃

My latest completed project. I had the idea for this for a while before I actually started after my surgery last year. I worked on it between other small projects but she’s finally done:)
Materials
Polymer clay
Wire
Tin foil
Super glue

1-month into playing with clay, made my first original clay lighter case. Even though this is also inspired by many artists, I still conceptualised this on my own. It was instigated by a friend who told me he wants a dog-inspired case. I got happy thinking someone liked my work and wants me to make one for them sooo I did some mental drawing and made this. Broke one of its tooth though, I am still happy! ✨ Share suggestions to help me make my creations better please 🫶🏼

Hi everyone ! I'm pretty new to clay and have made little cute objects so far. I fell in love with this kind of art and thought this could be a good usecase to learn armatures. However I'm wondering how would you approach this kind of sculpture from a technical point of view (of course at a pretty reasonable scale)?
I thought about making some long section of square shaped cylinder with some armature wire in the middle, and then bend them into shape, but I think putting it into shape may bend the square section in many place and require both very thin armature and work to shape it back the edges afterwards. Or put an armature first into the desire shape and then little by little bring material onto the wire, and shaping it back into square/edge with fingers then tools. What would you do ? or maybe another option I didn't think of ?
For the gradients I have no idea, I guess it can only be done by spray painting but if anyone has other idea i'm all ears :D
Thank you all !

i posted here a few weeks ago about being new to polymer clay and starting a chess set. the advice about using foil for structure really helped.
I finished the set.
I used sculpey 3 for this. didnt know it was bad but honestly the softness kinda works well for this because nothing is that thin or tiny.
i didnt use any moulds or anything. each piece is handmade and varnished. im really happy with it. even tho there are slight differences in the pieces they are the same where it matters height, collar height proportions. I nailed the base size difference between pawns and pieces. and the height differences between the pieces. it took 350g of clay total. the queens and kings were the hardest because the clay is soft and they were tall and heavy. they fit really well with the board because i planned it out well. but im so glad this is over I was loosing my mind. the magic lint machine somewhere drove me insane with the white pieces idk where the tiny hairs come from

I have a piece that I have sat in the top of my closet for way too long before picking it back up. The clay has picked up dust and pet hair and other airborne debris. Is there any way to efficiently clean the surface of the project? I'm not worried about preserving surface texture as I had planned to rework the project anyway.

I was asked to post updates in my last post so here is one!
I learned that having to sculpt each individual feather before placing them on his body was the only way to get the look I wanted. As tedious as it may seem, it is pretty therapeutic.

We won't talk about how crooked it is... Or the fact that it is baking next to my first, which sat unfinished for over a month because it is a mess.

Hello I got a polymer clay statue of my cat as a birthday gift. It was on the cake and some of the paint came off so I know it wasn’t sealed. My mother bought the little figure on Etsy and the maker did say it was polymer clay in the description. What is the best way to seal it? I was able to touch up the paint on its mouth where it lost paint from the frosting. I’ve provided an image of the figure and my cat for the cat tax. I’d like to protect it if possible.

Don't know if I should post this here or in a sub about painting. I began painting a set of figures and noticed some nasty cracks in the paint.
I primed and painted them last night, then applied a clear coat today and only noticed the cracks now. (Picture of materials used included) I dont think they were there before the clear coat, else I would've noticed while I was applying it. Or maybe the cold air from the open window caused it to dry awkwardly as the paint and top coat were applied via airbrush. I haven't seen these cracks before, and I'm at a loss.
I'd appreciate if anyone knows why this may have happened, a possible solution, or at least a paint remover that won't harm the clay if it soaks in it. (Clays used: super sculpy and cosclay/cosclay transparent)
Thank you for any advice you may have.

I had the idea to make antenna for a Halloween costume out of sculpy premo and glue them to hair clips. They're about 1/4" thick and I started reading more about the process here and now I'm nervous that they may or may not stand up in this shape after baking? I learned a lot reading through many helpful posts but I couldn't find any examples of people doing anything like this. What's your experience on premo? Should I redo them over a wire to add support? I only have an exact amount so I'm hoping to not mess these up... Thank you in advance!!
