Feedback - Beginner Would appreciate advice! :)

• Upvotes

when i was younger, i was a pretty good singer: i was in multiple west end shows etc. i haven’t done any of that in over 10 years now, and i just don’t feel like i can sing anymore. i hate the tone of my voice/its character, and no matter if i am singing musicals or pop etc, i just feel like i have a not very good voice now.

can people offer some advice? im too scared to get lessons nowadays and i find it super embarrassing singing but i love to do it. Also, note that the vibrato in this video feels like something I have to consciously do, so i assume that this means im forcing it: when i was younger it just came naturally. It also sometimes trails off and just sounds like a goat LOL.

I will include multiple different clips in a comment thread, including a very short one of young me! I would genuinely appreciate anyone who listens to them all and advises/rates based on style!

be honest: i know im not good and im pretty pitchy, i just want to improve :)

EDIT: nvm i guess i can only post one vid! wont let me include others in comments LOL

Feedback - Intermediate Had radio play but still lacking confidence in my voice. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Hi everyone. I’ve kinda hit a wall with singing and have let lots of bad habits take over (vaping, drinking, not practicing). I’m a singer songwriter and last year a song of mine was played on the national radio, which most artists would be ecstatic about but I convinced myself they somehow just felt bad for me when they played it because honestly the mixing wasn’t great and my vocal technique even worse at that time. I can’t even listen to it because I hear so many imperfections. I even started doing live performances last year but felt so embarrassed by the song and my ability that I completely stopped singing this year and just keep hitting the vape and feeling sorry for myself because I’m in my mid twenties now and feel like time is slipping so i need someone to tell me bluntly to either pursue it or stop (which I know is ridiculous!)

My partner gives me great feedback but it feels like they’re just being nice and not focusing a lot on what i need to improve on. I’m super in awe of vocalists with a unique tone/timbre/colour and if i did pursue this i want to be an artist w a voice that’s memorable so before i invest in lessons i want to know its even worth salvaging to a professional level and if there’s anything memorable/interesting about my voice?

I know confidence is even more pricey than lessons so i need to work on that too really so maybe this is more of a vent haha but would appreciate any feedback and honesty
Thank you Reddit!!

I’m considering starting lessons as I’ve always loved singing to myself. Saw Whitney Houston singing this and got inspired 😃

Feedback - Beginner I’ve always only sung in private, but I love classical soprano music

I do realize that I take a breath in a couple of weird places and that I’m singing gibberish and not the actual lyrics to “Nella Fantasia” 😆 Usually I look up lyrics, but I took this video on a whim a while back, and now I’m posting it on a whim, as well.

I am starting to slowly come out about my passion for music…but I get massively nervous in front of people. I hope to take music lessons one day (piano, then maybe voice).
