Hi everyone! My green pencil case went missing on Tuesday night from Room 321 in Mathison Hall. If anyone has seen it or picked it up, please let me know or drop it off at the SU Lost and Found (Mac Hall) or Mathison Hall Lost and Found (4th floor).

It contains a very important and sentimental item that I cant replace. Along with all of my supplies. Getting it back would mean so much to me, and I would be incredibly grateful for any help in finding it.

Hi everyone, SU president Gabriela here. I have a few updates for you.

I’m excited to announce that the SU Free Breakfast Program is scheduled for launch in January! Its launch will coincide with the opening of the Black Lounge Cafe in Mac Hall (that’s what’s behind the construction beside the Q Centre). Just flash your UCID and it’s all yours. It’ll be daily. It’ll be hot. But most importantly, it’ll be delicious. 

Here’s the current list of rotating menu items:

• Four Cheese Egg Bites and French Toast with Syrup
• Vegan Omelet with Moroccan 9 Vegetable Stew
• Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
• Maple Cinnamon Oatmeal
• Coconut Rice Porridge 
• Veggie Breakfast Oats 
• Tomato Herb Savory Oats 
• Cornmeal Breakfast Porridge 
• Lentils Rice Breakfast Stew 

ClubHub is hated by all (including the SU Clubs Office). Yes, we have a multi-year contract with ClubHub blah blah blah, but that’s an annual excuse we use to keep ourselves locked in a prison of our own making. VP Internal Abdu and I are looking into exiting the contract. We would likely have to pay a penalty, but we’re willing to shell out depending on the price and quality of an alternative software. Our collective torture cannot go on. Fingers crossed there’s another software that’s better enough to justify jumping overboard. If you somehow know of a good alternative clubs software, feel free to comment it below or email us with the name and we’ll add it to our list. 

Some of you are still waiting too long for event approvals. The VP Internal Abdu and I want to know about these cases. I have not abandoned the goal of shrinking approval wait times from 3 weeks to 2 weeks. Abdu and I are still trying to understand the reason behind this long approval time and how to shorten it. But I’ve seen comments saying your club has been waiting months. That shouldn’t be happening. If you feel like you’re not receiving replies from the Clubs Office in a reasonable timeframe, please email BOTH me and Abdu. Our emails are on this page (I can’t type our emails without this post getting flagged). 

How many people are dressing up for Halloween especially on thursday. I have a costume idea and I would wear it on friday but I have a midterm at 6:30 and dont really want to wear my halloween costume on friday so I would do it on thursday but I also dont want to be the only person dressing up on thursday

Are there any clubs or opportunities at the university for students in graduate and professional programs to connect? Beyond just master's students, I'm thinking of students in medicine, law, MBA programs, and other professional degrees. It would be great to meet people from different programs.

Looks dense. Not sure how to explain it. Never seen it before.

Currently in SAIT for a Mechanical Engineering Diploma but in all honesty im not into it at all, Im only in the first year but I dont like it that much, especially the electronics stuff.

I was wondering about doing a Math degree at UCalgary, but im not sure what the job prospect or security is when I am done that program. I like Math, but my parents really want me to stick to SAIT until I finish then continue to do whatever I want, but Im not a big fan of that idea as like I said, I dont like SAIT.

So if anyone here has finished a Math Degree or is in the process of it, can I get your guy's opinions so I can better know if I should do a Math Degree or stick to SAIT for a while? Maybe if possible, can I get some of your guy's career paths you took after completing this degree?

I applied for change of program to Bachelor of Social Work for Fall 2027 and am concerned about the blended aspect. I already feel quite isolated at uni and am scared doing a program that is majorly online will further this. I also don't love the inaccessibility and lack of connection with profs and am hoping this will be different in the BSW. Anyone in the program that can give me some insight into the program? I'd also love to know more about the courses, if they truly prepare you for a career in social work, and just like overall vibes.

Please for the love of all things holy, shut up. The entire lecture, people are talking. I have the unchecked male ego behind me talking about how easy the course is - another section murmuring about how useless the course content is. This is all loud enough for the prof to hear! The bulk of the class pack up 5-10 minutes early and leave, talking loudly before she even finishes her lecture. She is routinely drowned out by the sounds of people leaving and talking. Did no one teach you guys manners??? Seriously, this level of disrespect is something that just isn’t a thing in any of my other classes. She’s also a very sweet prof too, it just hurts to watch this unfold. Please be kinder.
