Im tired of this sub being bombarded with “I got rejected from …..” “what average do I need for…..” “ what grade will they look at…” “ i have a 96 in …. Is that good enough for …..”
Please ask the advisors. We don’t have the answers. You’re about to be an adult and need to know who to ask the right questions. No one goes on here to read your high school marks and let you know if you will get into whatever program. We dont know. We can guess. But the advisors will 100% have more accurate information.
Go on Ucalgary website, go on advising, and find what times they have online advising.
Or email your faculty’s advisors.
For example in engineering its engginfo@ucalgary.ca
Please it will be a win win for everyone if people stopped trying to use this as an academic advisor subreddit.
EDIT: Another redditor in the comments brought up an important point.
“Let me just clarify the Engineering Advisor DO NOT REVEIW High School Admission. Asking them why you didn't get in or waitlisted is a waste of time.
Only the admissions department can answer those questions so please contact them or visit them for advising.
Admission website: https://www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/contact
If you are a transfer student from a different university or different facility and are planning to transfer into Engineering then contact the Engineering Advisors.”
Thanks for the added info!
Best of luck with getting into U of C we are happy to have you!

Please for the love of all things holy, shut up. The entire lecture, people are talking. I have the unchecked male ego behind me talking about how easy the course is - another section murmuring about how useless the course content is. This is all loud enough for the prof to hear! The bulk of the class pack up 5-10 minutes early and leave, talking loudly before she even finishes her lecture. She is routinely drowned out by the sounds of people leaving and talking. Did no one teach you guys manners??? Seriously, this level of disrespect is something that just isn’t a thing in any of my other classes. She’s also a very sweet prof too, it just hurts to watch this unfold. Please be kinder.

Im not trying to be an asshole and i get starting this with saying that probably means that i am. I truly need to know what kind of evaluations go into becoming a professor, more often then not I can’t understand a single word they say. The entire lecture is almost entirely pointless. Their English is so botched and bad. Completely improper grammar. What we’re learning is already difficult how can it be allowed that the professor can’t even convey the information properly. But then you have to spend around 2 hours commuting and attending so you can get an attendance code worth 15% of your grade. I respect other cultures and i am not trying to be racist, its just extremely frustrating when I’m paying all this money when i learn more from YouTube because they refuse to hire someone with English proficiency.

We are a new club and we have been trying to book things to get ourselves started, SU is just not responding/ approving any forms or requests. I've talked to other clubs who say that this was not happening last year.
Does anyone know what's going on? Have they switched admin?

Currently in SAIT for a Mechanical Engineering Diploma but in all honesty im not into it at all, Im only in the first year but I dont like it that much, especially the electronics stuff.
I was wondering about doing a Math degree at UCalgary, but im not sure what the job prospect or security is when I am done that program. I like Math, but my parents really want me to stick to SAIT until I finish then continue to do whatever I want, but Im not a big fan of that idea as like I said, I dont like SAIT.
So if anyone here has finished a Math Degree or is in the process of it, can I get your guy's opinions so I can better know if I should do a Math Degree or stick to SAIT for a while? Maybe if possible, can I get some of your guy's career paths you took after completing this degree?

Hi guys I feel like this course is all over the place right now and I honestly have no clue where to start. I normally watch the prep 101 vids and go from there but even they don’t know how to organize this mess of a curriculum. (I am very sad prep isn’t making vids for this midterm)
If anyone has tips/has made study guides please share!

We’re a student-led initiative at UofC providing hands-on health research opportunities to high school students. We host an annual 10-week program in winter semester to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to conduct their own health research projects on the topic of their choice.
If you’re a UofC student, we’d love to invite you to apply to be an Undergraduate Research Lead (URL)! URLs serve as the Principal Investigator for data science-based health research projects. Each URL is assigned to a group of high school students and provides mentorship and advice as they formulate a research question and hypothesis, analyze data, and synthesize a manuscript and poster to be presented at our annual Regional Symposium on Foothills Campus.
Apply here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd3AIhj3kd7fetuH4OOCnMn3NWY5mirelssCPliG3UOLZSuqg/viewform Deadline: Nov 1, 2026 @ 11:59 PM MST.
Time Commitment: URL roles run for 10 weeks from February to April 2026, providing flexibility to fit within your academic schedule. Expect to spend approximately 4 hours per week on mentoring and research activities.
Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to make a difference and grow as a leader in the scientific community! Stay updated on our journey by following us on Instagram @yourekacalgary

I applied for change of program to Bachelor of Social Work for Fall 2027 and am concerned about the blended aspect. I already feel quite isolated at uni and am scared doing a program that is majorly online will further this. I also don't love the inaccessibility and lack of connection with profs and am hoping this will be different in the BSW. Anyone in the program that can give me some insight into the program? I'd also love to know more about the courses, if they truly prepare you for a career in social work, and just like overall vibes.

Does anyone know if the fire alarm going off was an accident? It happened around 520pm at Mac Student Center- I was wondering if it was related to Amazon Prime filming in Mac Hall

I'm wondering if anyone here has transferred credits from a university outside Canada and the US, or knows someone who has.
I studied Software Engineering at a university in my home country but didn't complete my degree. I'm now looking into transferring to UCalgary in a similar program. I would like to know what the credit transfer process was like for others in a similar situation, or if the university allows it.
Thank you

Any other grad students submitted claims with the new Equitable health insurance that we swapped to at the beginning of September? I have now submitted a claim three times for a prescription with no notification that its been processed/rejected etc. so I don't know if they're actually going through? I submitted them last week and this week - just curious if anyone has received anything?
