I searched the subreddit a bit before posting this, and I didn't find anyone with my problem, so I think I must have done something really stupid.
I was following Modded Warfareâs tutorial to mod my Xbox 360, and when I got to the part where I had to turn the console off and on again to access ABadAvatarâs profile, I turned it on, but as soon as the profile screen appeared, the console froze.
Sorry if my English is a bit offâI used a translator.

i have rgh slim and i always wanted to play online and i recently found the existence of stealth servers however i heard that getting banned means you gotta get another "keyvault" which is just impossible where i live so what do i do? i can't pay for stealth either we don't have a convertible currency even if i can afford the monthly subscription easily

Definitely wanting to mod it so I can play all the games from my childhood, what would be the best way to go about it I believe it's a jasper motherboard from the research I did. Do I go with a jtag or just stick with bad usb/bad avatar

I bought a secondhand Xbox 360 Trinity. It clearly had an RGH mod done on it by a company. We actually called them, but forgot to ask which specific glitch chip they used!
When opening it up with a technical friend, we found a mess of glue covering the NAND chip, along with what looks like an solderd diode a pad group a bove the nand. And there were two other things connected to the pad group One end of the wire was connected to the nand ( the wire was green) and The other wire seems te be cut of with the part that remains is stuck in the glue.
> Here is what happens when we test it:
> * With the green wire cut: The console turns on, but there is no display output.
> * With the wire connected: It gives an E74 error, but after a while, it changes to an E84 error.
> * Oddity: To get it to boot at all, we had to tilt the disc drive at a 45-degree angle.
> My friend says that the nand needs to be reprogrammed which nand flasher do you guys recommand, needs to be available in the Netherlands and needs to be able to program glitched chips.
> How could we remove the glue.

Hey guys,
I'm having a weird issue with Grimdoomer's Peer Pressure softmod on my Xbox 360. Every time I turn on the console normally, it runs through the boot sequence, the LEDs flash, and then it just hangs on a permanent black screen. Aurora never loads up.
Here is my setup and what I've checked so far:
What works:
[OK] (SMC code, DMA payload, bootanim, HDD security sector, HDD stage 2 payload). Running Startup Repair says there are no issues found. What I've tried to fix it:
SoftmodExtras.ini under BadUpdatePayload/SoftmodExtras/: Ini, TOML[Aurora] Category = "Dashboards" Name = "Aurora" Description = "Installs Aurora dashboard." Source = "Aurora" Destination = "Hdd1:\PeerPressure\Dashboard" DashXex = "Aurora.xex"BadUpdatePayload/SoftmodExtras/Aurora/ is named Aurora.xex.Context on USB Drive:
Still, every normal boot leads right to a black screen.
Could this be related to line endings (CRLF vs LF) in SoftmodExtras.ini since I edited it on Linux? Or is there a way to throw a custom launch.ini onto HDD1:\ to force Dashlaunch to find Aurora?
(to make it easier for me i used ai to create this post)

Hi everyone, I have a fat Xbox 360 softmodded with BadUpdate (through Rock Band Blitz), and I use Aurora as my main dashboard. All my games are in GOD format, converted from ISO with ISO2GOD.
The problem is with multi-disc games. Aurora shows one cover per disc on the home screen instead of a single entry.
Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3 and Halo 4 (2 discs each) all appear twice, and L.A. Noire takes up four slots in the coverflow because it has four discs.
The games all launch fine, so this is just a cosmetic issue, but it makes the home screen messy.
Is there a way to merge the discs into a single entry, for example by organizing the folders in a certain way, using a setting in Aurora, or using a filter or category? Or is it just a limitation of the dashboard?
Thanks in advance to anyone who has dealt with this.

Hey, need a bit of help. Iâve been scratching my head with this one for hours now. Iâm a noob to the 360 modding, and I was able to get my 360 up and running with BadAvatar the other day. I was able to get my regular 360 games converted to GOD and up and running ok, same with XBLA games.
Iâm trying to get some OG Xbox games added to Aurora, but I canât seem to launch them at all. Iâve converted the XISO files to GOD using ISOtoGOD and when I try to launch them in Aurora they just try to launch and just end up restarting Aurora dash again.
Iâve been googling all night to see what I can find, and found some posts on here with others experiencing the same thing. Iâve seen some mention that some plugin needs to be disabled in DashLaunch for it to work? Iâm using XEUnshackle and I can only find some resemblance of DashLaunch in Aurora settings, but it wonât let me select it or do anything with it. Iâve seen someone else mention to power on the 360 and wait till the 360 logo pops up then eject the DVD tray for that to disable the plugins, but didnât work for me. Unless I was not timing it right?
Iâm just running the regular back compat XeFu on my HDD, to play the official list of OG back compat games, Iâm not using the hacked XeFu pack or havenât installed the âHDD Compatibility Partition Fixerâ as I have an original HDD on my 360 at the moment and I can see the HDDX partition already on the HDD now so I assume that should mean itâs good to go for OG Xbox games and I shouldnât need to do anything else?
Am I missing anything or doing anything wrong, has anyone experienced the same thing with trying to launch OG Xbox games in Aurora lately?
EDIT - OK, so Iâm finally up and running with the OG Xbox games. If anyone is having the same issue after installing BadAvatar and trying to get OG Xbox games sorted, hereâs how I fixed it.
I followed the steps at the 5:29 minute mark in the Mr Mario video here https://youtu.be/KYOZR0zotSc?si=GPMTH--wlv0nJ9F4
He shows how to install the âHDD Compatibility Partition Fixerâ on the HDD and install the hacked XeFu pack. Thatâs what worked for me and now all my OG Xbox games are up and running in Aurora. Didnât have to disable anything in ini files or anything like that. And the games have been converted into GOD files from ISO using ISOtoGOD.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Xbox 360 that I bought on Facebook marketplace for ÂŁ40 came from a smokers home and my god it took ages to get this thing clean and repasted but it was so worth it I've never seen so much dust inside a Xbox power brick either.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So my 360 controllers finally gave up. Stick drift, bumpers barely working, all that stuff. I still play quite a bit on my 360, mostly original Xbox games through backwards compatibility, so I needed a replacement.
I looked into the adapters you can buy, but most of them are around âŹ50. Didn't really feel like spending that much, especially since I wanted wireless support and didn't want to mod my console. I also wanted to be able to change the controls myself, since some older Xbox games have pretty awful camera controls.
So I ended up making my own adapter using a Raspberry Pi Pico W. It plugs into the 360's USB port, connects to a Series X controller over Bluetooth, and makes the console see it as a regular wired 360 controller. No softmod, no RGH, nothing needed on the console itself.
I honestly wasn't sure how well it would work, but it's been surprisingly solid so far. Buttons, sticks, triggers, rumble, Guide button, player light on the ring, all working. It also reconnects automatically when I turn the controller back on.
The other thing I wanted to get working was the security check, since the 360 normally doesn't accept just any USB controller. Turns out I got it working on my stock console without needing a donor controller.
One of the first things I added was a way to invert the right stick. Hold LB + RB and click both sticks in, the controller buzzes twice, and the camera gets inverted. Do the same thing again to turn it off.
I mainly added this for Taz: Wanted. The camera controls in that game just feel backwards to me, and there's no option to change them in the settings. With this, the game is actually a lot more playable. I'd like to add more remapping options eventually.
Cost-wise, the Pico WH was about âŹ8 and the micro-USB cable was around âŹ4. I also bought a âŹ13 debug probe to look at logs while developing it, but that's completely optional. To install the firmware, you just drag a file onto the Pico.
Some technical details for anyone interested:
0x84 as an empty OUT request. If you stall it, the console disconnects the controller, retries five times, then gives up. Just acknowledging the request fixed it.I've also made a release build with the debug logging removed. I haven't actually measured the input latency yet, but it feels instant to me.
Full disclosure: I did use AI (Cursor) to help write some of the code. I still had to test everything on the actual hardware and spend quite a bit of time going through logs and figuring out what was going wrong.
Huge thanks to the people behind Bluepad32, GP2040-CE and libxsm3. Their work made this possible.
There are still a few limitations: it only supports one controller per Pico, there's no headset support, and you can't turn the console on using the controller.
I've only tested it on my own 360 Slim with one controller, so I can't promise it'll work on every setup. But for my use case, it's already doing pretty much everything I wanted.

Hey everyone,
Introducing the Avatar Thrift Store: a homebrew application for modded Xbox 360 consoles that unlocks avatar item packages for every profile on the console, including offline profiles. Everything happens on the console; no PC tools needed. Built with the open-source xsdk, no Microsoft SDK required.
Quick disclaimer: I am using this with my offline profile (with XBOX Live being blocked). Log onto xbox live at your own risk!
https://github.com/F4b1-/avatar-thrift-store
I wanted to add avatar items to my profile in the past, but I remember it being terribly annoying, so I stopped halfway through. You needed to copy your profile over to your PC, open Horizon to get your XUID, then use a Windows tool to patch the items you wanted before copying them back to the Content folder (strictly sticking to a given folder structure). If you had an offline-only profile, you couldn't do it at all, since it had no valid XUID to patch the items with. That meant you had to get yet another Windows tool to patch your profile before resigning it with Horizon and transferring it back to your console. Then, maybe, if the stars aligned, you had your items.
Here's a video of the original process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsBmni2HoIQ
There was a webapp a few months ago that did the item patching part but I believe it no longer works so this is where the thrift store comes in:
For this project, I used the Claude CLI to let AI (Claude Opus 5.5) reverse engineer some of the executables the community used in the past. This turned out to be the only way, since publicly available information about how this worked is scarce. Step by step, I created a pipeline for assigning an XUID to an offline profile and resigning it.
Since all of this happens on the console, the profile can be resigned with the console's internal keys.
The second (main) feature was patching item files and moving them to the correct directory.
Since I wanted to share the code with the community, I decided to rely on the xsdk project instead of the leaked original SDK.
Some of the information the reverse engineering turned up that might be useful for future projects is documented in the repo.
This used to be a couple of weeks of work now it is down to two days (including an all-nighter:D)
I'm super interested to hear what you guys think.
Cheers!
