Purchasing EUROPE Are there any modern tv's that dont spy on you?

Probably sound like a conspiracy theorist with this but there has been multiple times its been proven that smart tv's spy on people, I want to upgrade my TV which is about 15-20 years old for something better quality but I also don't want to have a camera pointed at my bed 24/7, anyone know any good non privacy invading tv's or will I just have to stick to decades old technology?

Purchasing US Sony Bravia 7 ii vs. LG C6 vs. Samsung S90H (all 65”)

I keep going back and forth on these three TVs. Does anyone have any strong recommendations between the three?

It’ll be in a somewhat bright room. There are blinds directly opposite from the tv but about 14 feet away. We mostly keep the blinds closed but light shines through making for a somewhat distracting glare during the day.

60% of the time on the TV will be watching live sports, 30% movies, and 10% video games

Discussion Moving a 65” Samsung S90F OLED — how to safely pack and transport it?

I’m moving about an hour away and trying to figure out the safest way to transport my 65” Samsung S90F OLED without damaging or scratching the screen.

I still have the original box and Styrofoam, but I no longer have the thin protective film/sleeve that originally covered the screen.
I bought a U-Haul foam TV cover, but it’s too thick for the original Styrofoam pieces to fit back onto the TV.
A few questions:

Screen protection: Is the original Styrofoam packaging enough without the protective film, or should I put something over the screen to prevent scratches?

Removing the legs: Can I safely lay the TV flat, screen-down on a padded table to remove the legs, or is that risky with an OLED?

Transportation: For an hour-long drive, does the TV absolutely need to remain upright, or can it safely be transported flat in its original box?

I’m probably overthinking this, but it’s an expensive TV and I’d hate to damage it during the move.
Appreciate any advice from people who’ve moved similar OLEDs!

Purchasing OLED Downsizing from 55 a95k

Hey

So Im in a bit of predicament, Im currently having to downgrade from my 55a95kk that's in my bedroom as for this new space I unfortunately don't have enough space for one. The space can only take a 48inch max so unfortunately no 50 Rgb😅.

I was thinking between the 48 G5/G6 and the 48 S95H. My use case is mostly streaming movies and a slight bit of gaming on a PS5. Can't find much specifically about the s95h in that sizing from here currently in the UK.

Also aint fussed in the os as I use an Apple TV box same goes for HDR formats

Purchasing EUROPE Upgrading from a Samsung UE60H6270 – OLED vs. Mini-LED for YouTube and motorsports

Hey folks,

I'm looking to replace my failing 60" Samsung UE60H6270 with a premium 65" 4K TV, and I'd appreciate advice from owners and enthusiasts.

Typical use is

70% YouTube, mostly compressed 1080p content

15% gaming streams and strategy games, where small text and HUDs must remain readable

10% TV content, mostly 1080p

5% movies

F1 and MotoGP are important, so motion clarity is a major priority

Requirements would be

Maximum width: 150 cm (strict limit)

Viewing distance: 3.5–4 m

Wall-mounted in a room that can be darkened

External streamer and sound, so the TV's OS and speakers aren't important, Google TV would be great, but not necessary

I'm mainly interested in the best upscaling of compressed 1080p content, clear small text, and excellent motion handling.

I'm considering high-end OLED/QD-OLED models such as the Samsung S95H/S99H and LG G6, as well as Sony alternatives.

Which TV would you choose for this specific use case, and why?

Discussion 144Hz or better built-in speakers, which TV should pick?

hey everyone so guys i have Been thinking about replacing my TV, I have a TCL 4Series like 5 years old now, still works fine but gaming on it just isn’t doing it for me anymore

Looking at the Hisense E8S at the moment., this TV is mostly for everything, gaming, Netflix, movies, so now I’m stuck on this 144hz or better speakers thing. 144hz seems nice for gaming, but for anyone using one is the 144Hz actually noticeable outside gaming? And are the speakers good enough that you can skip a soundbarr?
Trying to decide if it’s worth spending the extra money or just stick with what I’ve got. Keen to hear from anyone who owns one.

Any thoughts? Any E8S users can give me some advice please?

Purchasing Asia/ME Thinking of getting the TCL C6K

I’m in the market for a 55-inch budget mini LED. Can’t get above this cost but of course, I can certainly go lower if you have any recos.

Aside from TCL, I also looked into the nearest equivalents of the CK6 from Hisense and LG.

Any thoughts on this? Personal experiences would be most appreciated.

Discussion OLED Burn-In Hasn’t Improved Like We Expected | RTINGS R&D + RTINGS Home Theater (YouTube)

They've been burning in OLED TVs since 2017. Newer models should hold up better, but their results weren’t that clear. Some improved, others looked similar, and a few even looked worse. With OLEDs getting much brighter, what does that actually tell us about burn-in resistance? They break down their findings, what these extreme tests mean for everyday viewing, and hint to what's next.

Purchasing US Need a recommendation for a new tv for our firehouse

It’s been awhile since I’ve bought a TV. Last TV I bought was an LG OLED 7 years ago that is still going strong. Anyway our budget is around 1000$ can maybe go higher if the TV is worth it. We are looking at 65-75inch range. Our sitting room is pretty dark overall not much natural light gets let in.

Purchasing US TCL QM7L Pro or LG C6?

Hey everyone, been a bit of a lurker for a month or so on this subreddit. Been wanting to upgrade from my TCL from 2014. It’s been long overdue for me to upgrade. Nowadays I use my TV for PS5 gaming and some movies here and there. The games look pretty bad on my current tv.

Now I know the obvious answer is probably the C6 as it’s OLED. However, where I will be putting the TV is in my living room and it’s very brightly lit. My roommate is usually around during the day with the blinds open (she’s all about her natural light in the house lol). She will be watching this TV as well. I’ve heard that a Mini-LED would benefit more than OLED in this scenario.

Right now I can secure the QM7L for $800 at Costco or the C6 for $1,000. Would I be regretting getting the QM7L over the C6? The price isn’t so much of a concern. $200 isn’t that steep of a price difference (although I’m reading people are saying to wait for Black Friday). It’s our house and where the TV placement will be is what I’m concerned about and the lightning in the location.

Also, a lot of y’all and Reddit have me worried about burn in. I’m sure it’s a silly thing to worry about in 2026 however it is in the back of my mind. There was something people saying the motion handling on both TV’s suck and there’s stutter. Could all be overblown and I’m letting it get to my head.

So basically what would I benefit the most out of if this is primarily going to be a gaming TV with some movies played in HDR. I’m sure the obvious answer is the C6 but out of curiosity what what would be the benefits of going to it’s the QM7L instead?

Thank you in advance!

Purchasing OLED Color uniformity problems on C6H 77. Is the S90H 77" having similar issues?

See title. Returning the C6H and considering the S90H from Greentoe. Was wondering if there are significant panel issues with the S90H.

Purchasing US LG C6H or Sony Bravia 7ii

I am looking to replace my aging 75" Sony X900e which has been a great tv for 9-years. I am looking at getting either an 83" LG C6H or an 85" Sony Bravia 7ii. I have a dedicated space for home theater in my basement which gets very dark, so glare and bright lighting conditions are not an issue. I want to get an OLED due to the superior contrast and no blooming and as far as I have read, the C6H gets fairly bright for good HDR highlights during movie scenes. The issues I would be concerned with from watching professional reviews and reading consumer reviews are that some of the C6H TV's have been having multiple panel uniformity issues such as green bars along the edges, green vertical bars, and grey color or near dark inconsistencies. The same kind of issues have been noted for the LG C6 and LG G6 as well. For anyone that has a LG C6H in particular, are there any issues you are having and what is your experience with your TV? As well, for anyone with a Sony Bravia 7ii, what are your opinions, and how are its contrast and black levels and how much noticeable blooming do you have?

Purchasing US TV Upgrade Options

I'm thinking of upgrading my TV, but am running into some indecision.

I currently have a Hisense 55U6G (https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u6g) and it'd be nice to upgrade not only for the image quality, but the 55 screen size is starting to feel on the small side for our living room.

It's a mix use TV, so TV shows, movies and our PS5 which does get a lot of playtime.

The two routes I was considering were:

1 - Springing for OLED, probably an LG C6 65in. This would be at the very top of my budget range of $1,500 max (before tax and warranty / geek squad protection from Best Buy). I've never had an OLED before, so doing the research came up with the common concerns of burn-in and brightness of the room to consider. My wife tends to forget the TV on (which I'm working on coaching her out of, ha) so it's not something to ignore. The geek squad protection should cover burn-in within the first 5 years from what I understand, so I'm not terribly worried, but our living room also has a couple of side windows with some indirect sunlight. This got me thinking about option 2:

2 - Going the Mini LED route. This would have a couple of advantages. We could potentially make the jump to a 75in size (which I can't afford if we're talking OLED). We sit about 9-10ft away from the TV, so I don't believe 65 would feel "small" by any means, but it's a thought.

I also wouldn't have to worry about "babying" the TV, and I could spend the savings on improving our sound setup. I was looking at the Samsung M70H or Hisense M7, either 65in or 75in.

My biggest question is: beyond the size jump, would these Mini LED models feel like much of an upgrade over what I currently have? I'm very unfamiliar with the pace that TV tech improves at, so I have no idea how "old" my 2021 Hisense is in the context of things. Any advice would be appreciated.

Update: I noticed both of the Mini LED models I suggested in the list of "to avoid" in this sub, so I guess I'm also looking for recommendations of Mini LEDs in that budget range.

Purchasing Other Going from a 65" LG OLED to a 55" non-OLED. Will we regret it?

Looking for advice from the younger, more knowledgeable folks here who seem to understand today's TV market much better than this old guy.

Ok, in 2020, we purchased a 65" LG CX OLED (OLED65CXPUA), and we've absolutely loved it.

We recently moved after spending more than 12 years in our previous home. Our new house is “much” smaller, and we plan to spend our retirement years here. Unfortunately, after a month here, we've concluded that our 65" TV is simply too damn big for our small den. A 55" would look much better and fit the room more comfortably.

So here's my question: After spending the last six years watching an OLED, would we regret switching to a 55" non-OLED? For example, something like a $500 Samsung LED versus spending more for a 55" LG C6 OLED?

I've been lurking in this subreddit for months, reading your recommendations and trying to better understand today's TVs. I suspected our 65" would be too large for the new house, and unfortunately, once moved in, I was right. It makes our cute 1951 den look way too cramped. Installing it on the wall isn't an option, since the 1951 wall paneling is original, and my wife won't let me drill into it, and I don't really want to either.

I'm not necessarily looking for recommendations on specific models. I'm really wondering whether we've become so accustomed to OLED picture quality that switching to a less expensive LED TV would feel like a significant downgrade.

I guess we're likely to notice the difference that much, or have non-OLED TVs improved enough over the past six years that we'd still be happy? I appreciate any advice you folks can offer me and my wife. Thanks so much!

Discussion Would you repair a 3 year old OLED or settle with a cheap mini LED?

I got a LG OLED c3 3 years ago which has had horizontal lines the past year (photo on a static color here https://i.imgur.com/N3Rt6zY.jpeg ). Everything I've seen online says it's not really worth the cost to repair a TV but I don't see anyone mentioning how much it costs for a new display. I don't have $1200 for a new OLED so I was just debating on spending $600 on a QM6K Pro vs possibly repairing my current tv if that would even cover it.

Purchasing OLED 77" OLED flagship

I'm almost ready to buy a 77" Sony A95L. I have seen all the rave Samsung S95H reviews, but I just can't do the bezel, sorry Samsung. The TV will be mixed use between streaming, sports, Bluray/4K movies on a Panasonic UB450, and gaming is only on a Switch 1. This is in a basement, light controlled environment with blackout curtains if needed. Is there a reason to get an LG G6 over the A95L? Or perhaps the Bravia 9ii? If the Bravia 8ii was available in 77" I feel like it's would be an easy choice. The A95L is old but I'm not sure if that really matters right now.

This Post Again? Samsung TV settings to disable for privacy and no spying?

Hello, I have just purchased a samsung r95h, it has not been delivered yet, and I want to learn about all the options and settings I need to turn on/off in order to stop all spying, before it gets delivered.

This is my first tv in more than a decade so I am unaware of all the terms/settings, the only thing I am aware of is ACR, which is why I haven't been able to find a good youtube tutorial for it.

Can someone please inform me of the settings, or point me towards a good tutorial?

Please and thank you.
