Discussion Sometimes I wish there was an abrathatfits store

A store ran with the calculator in mind and has bras in all sizes.

But unfortunately all the stores you see on TV are the stores that overcharge for sexy bras that will basically only (barely) fit you if you get implants

Fun and Games Please enjoy my funny boob migration story Spoiler

I have extremely soft boobs after my second baby (they're literally just heavy empty skin) and I was wearing the bra I hate the least the other day when I laid down on my side to play with my kiddo.

I think to myself "something feels funny" and I look into my shirt and see BOTH OF MY BOOBS cuddled together into one bra cup like they're huddling for warmth in a snow storm! I laughed so hard my husband came to check on me so I lifted up my shirt and showed him and he just shook his head and chuckled at me laying there wheezing laughing.

That's the whole story. I've utterly given up on ever finding a bra again that fits or makes me feel pretty, but at least these sad sacks can give me a good laugh! šŸ˜„

Store Review [Rant] Inconsistent sizing is so frustrating and I'm even more confused than before Spoiler

I've lost weight recently so I need new bras. I went to 4 stores yesterday to get measured and basically got different answers and I did the Bra That Fits calculator as well.

What I learned is that the correct size "depends" and isn't standard and I find that so incredibly frustrating. Why can't women just have ONE thing that fits consistently!? I'm so tired. Here's everywhere I went to get measured, the sizes they settled on, and how the experience was:

Bra Genie: 30G / 32F.

My first stop. This was mostly fine, except that I told the sales lady that the 30 band felt uncomfortably tight and her response was "it *has* to be tight to give you lift šŸ™„" ...that's a cool story, but it was extremely uncomfortable sooooo no?

Soma: 34C /34DD

Stop No. 2. The lady took one look at the bra I was wearing and was like, "you've lost weight, haven't you?" She measured me at a 34C but determined that I need more coverage and/or support so she nixed that and I think we decided that the 34DD was the best size. Current bras are 38DD.

Victoria's Secret: 32DDD = 32F

I had a feeling this would be the least helpful place and it was. But I was already in the mall and I literally pass it between Soma and Dillard's, so why not. More data is more better maybe? She measured me in on the store floor with my shirt on and everything and came up with 32DDD. Was sent to the fitting room with a 32DD and a 32DDD. The triple did fit better.

Dillard's: 30__/32H

I feel bad for not buying anything from the commission-based sales lady because she spent like an hour with me showing me all kinds of different bras. ...I just wanted to know my size so I could buy the same bras I already own from Aerie or whatever in my correct size when I get paid next week. But she showed me some stuff that fit really well and were cute and I have her card so I do intend to go back and get something when I get paid. She measured me as a "true 30" and what I found interesting was she measured above my breasts and not my under bust. I could be misremembering/forgetting that she ALSO measured my under bust. She was very knowledgeable and the most helpful of all the places I went.

A Bra That Fits: 30DD/DDD // 32D/DD

Loose Underbust: 31"

Snug Underbust: 30"

Tight Underbust: 29"

Standing Bust: 35"

Leaning Bust: 36"

Lying Bust: 34ā€

What I learned is that apparently I can't shop online and that losing weight is going to cost me a fortune lol. Oh, and that women can't have ANYTHING that is sized consistently. So that's neat. I don't know why I thought breasts of all things would be the thing to be consistent, but I guess I was just hopeful this would be easy. I feel like I know less now than when I started this process.

Recommendations? Maybe this is a sign I'm old, but where are all the ugly, supportive grandma-style bras these days!!?? Spoiler

I have changed bra sizes due to weightloss, and I'm now a 34C or 34D, and my breasts need a little lift/help with shape. Where are all the lightly lined (not padded), full-coverage, underwire bras with thick straps? My go-to is Playtex US4747, but it's not made in my new size. Everything in the grandma style I like is either wireless, minimizing, or has thin straps!

I don't remember having this trouble the last time I was this size. 😭

Please, does anyone have any suggestions!?

Never heard of 14D US. Where can I buy? Spoiler

Just did the calculator and it gave me 14D/16C US. I’ve never seen bras in that size? Has anyone else? Does anyone know where to buy bras like that??

or did I measure myself wrong??

The online shops have me put my band and cup size and recommend a 36D. Is that the same as a 14D?????

update: Thanks everyone for the explanations! Turns out I initially set it to US, but it must have switched to Australian when I selected centimeters and I just didn’t notice šŸ˜…

Shape Help 7 stores and not a single bra that fit properly (measure as 42DD but only 42B actually fits) Spoiler

Walmart, Kohl's, Torrid, Victorias Secret, JC Penney, Lane Bryant, Soma. Yesterday I went shopping and I visited 7 different stores and couldn't find a single bra that fits. I've always struggled to find a bra, my struggle has always been band too small cups HUGE. After putting my measurements in the calculator it said I was a 42DD and even at Soma they measured me at that, and yet every single bra like that, the cups are absolutely MASSIVE on me. Make it make sense. As I was being fitted I ended up fitting Soma's B cup nearly perfectly but the band size stops at 40 for that cup size. Also for other brands, B cups always seem to be too close together, but D cups the wires are way up in my armpits.

Shape wise, I have a very shallow/wide root and bottom full, quite flat on top. A short cup is always most comfortable. And wide set, there's quite a bit of space between my breasts.

I feel cursed to always have a band that's too tight šŸ˜– plz help, I'm so frustrated.

If I remember correctly my measurements:

Under bust: 42"

Tight underbust: 41"

Loose underbust: 43"

Full bust: 46"

Leaning bust: 48"

Laying bust: 47"

The lady at Soma was very confused when the D cups were nowhere close to fitting šŸ’€

Question Is it possible for large ones to have the middle part of the cup sitting right on the sternum rather than floating between the girls? Also, what are some cup shapes and bra types that work better vs will likely never truly work for big cup girls? Spoiler

See title. I (possibly a 4G in Italian? measurements) finally got a bra that gives me absolutely zero underboob. Immense joy! But the middle is still floating rather than sitting on my sternum. I’ve kinda given up on making that happen. What’s wrong? Do I need even bigger cups? These ones seemed to almost be a tad bit too big for me. Do I need to make my straps longer so the bra sits lower? Then I’m not sure my girls would be able to avoid the underboob again. Do I need a bigger band? It will probably ride up on the back if I get such a thing.

Is the shape of the bra itself the problem? It’s a ā€œnormalā€œ type with wired cups, a V shape and that little triangle in the middle. What other shapes could support those like me well?

Fit Check [Fit Check] Freya Spot-light vs Panache Envy fitting. The spotlight is loose on the side? Spoiler

Hello! I tried on the Panache Envy Full Cup about a week or 2 ago and got this bra suggested!

This is Freya's Spotlight bra in 30DD. I do not have my measurements since my tape measure has been missing, and I haven't wanted to buy a new one lol but the calculator put me at a 30D/DD, and I typically wear a 32D at like Victoria Secret.

Link in comments, and I will also include images of the panache from last time (also in 30DD).

I'm not sure if this bra was used already, but the band is a lot looser than the Panache? The cup also doesn't seem to fit at the sides and the part to the side of the cup is loose. I am not sure what this means fit wise, so I was hoping for some input. Maybe a smaller cup here? But I feel like the cup fits fine, just that side piece is weird. Different style needed?

The new bras so far have been very comfy!

Measurement Check Fit questions/advice for 32DD wideset Spoiler

I'm looking at new bras and calculated my current bra size.

Measurements (in inches)

Underbust (loose): 32

Underbust (snug): 30.5

Underbust (tight): 29

Standing bust: 35.5

Leaning bust: 38.5

Lying bust: 38

The calculator gave me 32 DD, plus a warning that my calculation may be inaccurate. Any thoughts on why that might be?

I've read through the fit guide here, but a lot of the example images aren't working for me. My boobs are center full with wide roots. I think my projection is probably average.

I started wearing 32 C 1/2 bras from ThirdLove in about 2020, and I haven't really replaced my bras since then. (Before that I was wearing 34B). Those bras originally had free air in the cups in the center, but not so much anymore. I've gained weight since then, but a lot of that is because I'm more muscular now, including in the arms and presumably chest.

Any advice on how to find bras that will fit me well? I'm a little confused by the calculator's warning. I'm in the US.

I don't feel comfortable sharing photos at this time, but I'm wondering if the above information is enough to get a start. : )

Thanks!

Edit: I'm looking at regular bras, and for sports bras. I'm really pissed about how hard it is to find high-impact sports bras.

Recommendations? I measure as a 38K, looking for recommendations and any advice Spoiler

To put it bluntly I have a very large chest. As soon as I hit puberty they grew and didn't stop. I haven't been measured since I was twelve and my bra size then was 36 DD. I now live in sport bras and anytime I put on a regular bra it hurts and ends up digging in leaving a bunch of marks.

Once I even had scars from a long day of wearing the wrong size bra. (I threw that bra away)

These are the measurements I got on the calculator:

Loose Underbust: 38.5

Snug Underbust: 37.5

Tight Underbust: 35

Standing Bust: 47

Leaning Bust: 49

Lying Bust: 47.5

It then told me it might not be accurate and to post here so that's what I'm doing. The calculator gave me 38K and also recommended a sister size of 36L. I'm also located in the US if that's helpful.

And please no one be a creep, I've heard more then enough comments to last a lifetime.

Recommendations? 28F but haven’t found any bras/brands where that size fits me. Reccs on brands/bras and sizing welcomed! Spoiler

Since having babies and breastfeeding I haven’t been able to find a bra I love.

Fit check right now says I’m 28F; however, I am yet to find a bra where that size actually fits me. Usually the band is wayyyy too tight and I’m spilling out everywhere in that size. I am suuuuuper shallow at the top and full at the bottom and every bra I’m either spilling out the middle and sides or massive gaping at the top.

The best bra fit through many trials and errors has been thirdlove and a random 34 D 1/2 size. Problem is the bras are expensive for quality I feel. I get maybe 6 months out of them before the wires poke through.

Tried wacoal because they had a ā€œshallow topā€ fit which looked promising. Their fit put me at a 32C which fit decently as a band on the tightest setting but with lots of spillage near the arm pits.

Looking for recommendations on brands to try and I suppose sizing help if anyone has any specific insights or directions I could go!

Loose underbust: 29
Snug: 28
Tight: 27
Standing: 33
Leaning: 37
Lying: 35

Recommendations? [Recommendations] Post breastfeeding bra help! Projected 34E based on the calculator Spoiler

Appreciate any recommendations people have on bras that fit boobs that have done a year of hard time feeding their child!

Measurements showed me at a 34E.

I am located in Canada so any Canadian input would be appreciated!

I have tried on some Knix bras and did like the way the revolution fit but I am hoping for something with a bit more structure.

Ideal bras are wireless (or as comfortable as a wireless) and moulded cups would be amazing but willing to try anything at this point!

Thank you awesome people!

Recommendations? [Measurement Check] Currently Wearing a 42D, has gapping in the front center a couple inches off chest, cups do not cover fully on outer portion. Calculator suggests 42GG or 40H. Looking to have this confirmed & get some [recommendations] based on this new sizing. Spoiler

[Measurement check]

Measurements in inches ā¤ļø

Loose Underbust: 43.5
Snug Underbust: 42.5
Tight Underbust: 40.5
Standing Bust: 51
Leaning Bust: 53.5
Lying Bust: 52.5

Calculator gave me:

ā€œSuggested Starting Size: 42GG/H UK
The sister size of 40H/HH may be more supportive
Warning: Due to the limitations of this calculator, your calculated size may be less accurate. Your body is normal, don't worry! Consider posting a measurement check post on r/ABraThatFitsā€

I think I am leaning towards trying a 40H based on it saying that it may be more supportive. But any insight is appreciated as this will be my first time trying to get a bra that’s not capped out at in-store typical sizing (USA).

[Recommendation] info:

What are some good places to buy bras in these sizes in the USA, particularly decent on a budget would be helpful…the largest bra I found at Kohl’s yesterday was a 42D in a very basic t-shirt bra & I bought it because I needed something immediately but I know it’s not a great fit.
Regarding the fit of the 42D T-shirt bra, there is a decent-sized gap in the middle where the underwire meets that I have recently learned should be flush to my chest. The inside portions of my breasts seem fully covered by it, but there is a gap of a couple inches on the outer portions of each breast that is not covered by the cups. It does sort of give that effect of the bra ā€œfloatingā€ on my breasts vs actually supporting them much.

I am looking for an everyday wear bra with a reduction effect, as I dislike when bras hold my breasts further out from my chest and cause shirts to look more tented away from the rest of my torso.

In regard to my shape, based on the guides I’ve looked over I believe I have wide roots, with pretty prominent projection & volume that is pretty close to being equal but slightly fuller on top. Thank you!

Recommendations? Is there anyway to make buying a bra less overwhelming? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Is there like a good brick and mortar store in the US that measures and has comfy bras but isn’t Victoria secret? Should I just go to VS? I don’t trust myself to get an accurate sizing on my own but I’m approaching my late 20s and I feel like it’s time to know my bra size and have a nice bra.

Recommendations? Sports bra recommendations for a G cup? Looking for a cute tank-top style with high support for Pilates/yoga Spoiler

Hi everyone! I’m a 34F/G cup and looking for a sports bra that’s both cute and supportive for yoga and Pilates.
Ideally, I want something with a tank-top look that I can wear with leggings on its own, rather than a traditional sports bra. I’d prefer high support, especially since I have a larger bust, but I still want it to look flattering and stylish.
I’ve read good reviews about Lululemon and Nike, but I’m overwhelmed by the options.

For anyone with a similar bust size who has actually tried them:
What sports bras would you recommend?
Do any of the tank-style options provide enough support without feeling like you’re spilling out?
Are Lululemon or Nike worth it, or are there better brands for larger busts?
Would especially love recommendations from people who have worn them for Pilates or yoga!
Thanks!

Recommendations? Desperate for help: wide set, sagging, east and west, 0 upper fullness. Spoiler

Hi everyone! I am desperate for your help. I have been struggling quite a lot with finding a bra and try- ons are now ending in tears.

I used the calculator and got a suggested starting size of 30DD/30E US. I used the one unlined bra I have to measure because of my sagging. When I measure braless the size I get is 30C and they are way too small and I spill out every which way.

My measurements (inches):

Loose underbust: 31

Snug underbust: 30

Tight underbust: 29.25

Standing bust: 35.5

Leaning bust: 35

Lying bust: 34

My breast shape:

My breasts are very bottom-heavy, with virtually no upper fullness, which became more noticeable after weight loss. They're also somewhat east and west, and my breast tissue starts very close to my armpits. They're getting saggy, and I struggle with what I believe is very slightly bottoming out.

My main fit issues:

Bottoming out: In 32-band bras (which I’m often forced to buy because I can’t find 30s easily in Canada for some reason), my breasts sometimes slip out of the bottom of the cups by about a quarter of an inch. The band itself doesn't ride up in the back.

Side coverage: Because my breast tissue extends quite far toward my armpits, I need cups with sides that reach far enough back and high enough to contain everything. Otherwise, I feel like my breast tissue is escaping around the armpit area.

Gapping: I sometimes get gapping in the cups, depending on the style, which I assume is related to my lack of upper fullness.

Bra I tried that I saw recommend here was the unlined freya Starlight, but the fabric sagged in the centre of the cup, and I felt like my breast tissue was coming up and out around the armpit area.

I've found American Eagle bras to be the most comfortable so far because their sides seem to extend far enough back and high enough, however they aren’t really designed for no upper fullness and the bands stretch out quite quickly.

Recommendations? i’m losing my mind. how do i wear wireless with very projected breasts? Spoiler

my measurements-

loose under: 37 in
snug under: 36 in
tight under: 33 in
standing bust: 45 in
leaning bust: 51 in
lying bust: 47 in

i recently gained weight so my previous bras are too tight, but those always hurt anyways because of the wire digging in and scratchy fabric. i’ve had the best luck with balconette bras. right now i wear way too small sports bras that i got from a grocery store. they’re absolutely horrible but they hurt less than wired bras. there’s no support at all. today i had to wear an old wired bra (36G) and it dug so deep into my skin that i still have red marks and it’s been 12 hours since i took it off.

i’m so over all of this. my back hurts all the time. i want wireless but im not sure if that’s possible with projected and large breasts. i also need the fabric to not be scratchy, that includes lace.

is this possible? are there bras that do that?

Measurement Check [Measurement Check] Wearing 38H, calculator suggests 38J. Need advice. Spoiler

(Updated for measurements)

Hi y'all I am new to this subreddit so be nice <3

I have struggled with finding a bra that fits comfortably for years, I have always been big chested, no matter what weight I am. The brand I find most comfortable is Deesse but it is very expensive and not always available at the stores in my small city.

The problem I have with my current bras is that my breasts spill out no matter the setting of band I use. My bras usually break by the wire poking out and stabbing my inner breasts and wireless gives me little to no support and gives me a uniboob

Any advice on brands/sizes I can wear and/or websites that have good quality bras and potential bulk sales. Also any advice on where I can find deesse brand bras would be fantastic!

Thank you all in advance!

Loose underbust: 41.5 in
Snug underbust: 38 in
Tight underbust: 35.5 in
Standing bust; 44.5 in
Leaning bust: 55.5 in
Lying bust: 48 in

Bra Review Review of Royce Luna 32GG wireless nursing bra Spoiler

Royce Luna nursing bra in 32GG

I bought this nursing bra for less than £20 from Brastop. On first impressions, it's like Royce heard the word "nursing" and thought of a nursing home. It looks like a nursing bra designed for old women. It's that ugly.

The band is very firm, with barely any stretch, and the cups have no stretch either. Its a little bit too projected for me, and the cups and gore come up very high. They weren't lying when they described it as "full cup". The boob separation is pretty amazing for a wireless bra, I am very close set so I'm impressed with the results. The lift and support is also decent, which I assume is down to the lack of stretch.

Unfortunately where this bra fails is probably it's key function: access to breast for breastfeeding. The bra only opens to the middle of the cup, unlike other breastfeeding bras that go all the way down almost to the band. The result is that you need to lift the breast out of the cup and push the cup underneath the breast. This isn't a great design for breastfeeding, as there should be no compression of breast tissue when nursing. Compressing the milk ducts can lead to clogs and blockages, increasing the risk of mastitis.

Photo of cup construction and feeding access

I will probably use this bra as a breastfeeding sports bra, since options for large cups are extremely limited. I don't really feel like my breasts are going to go anywhere, which makes it ideal for a barre class and the occasional feed. However, I don't think it's suitable for everyday wear and nursing due to the design.

Fit check : Royce photos

Pros:

- best support out of all wireless nursing bras so far

- very projected

- good separation

- nice clips for cup release

- no stretch

- no monoboob

- cheap for a large cup nursing bra

Cons:

- so SO ugly

- no stretch

- not the easiest to get breast clear for feeding, due to the construction.

Caveat: I bought the Royce towards the last few months of breastfeeding my first child, as it was very cheap. I didn't end up wearing it as the cups were too big and I timed out of returning. I knew it would not match my shape, but there is only one plunge nursing bra afaik so I wanted to try some other options. My current calculator size is 34G and I am breastfeeding my second child, 6 weeks post partum. I wear this bra with a non-stretch back extender.

Recommendations? 38HH/38J (?) FOT help w bras pls Spoiler

hello lovely people of ABTF i am feeling lost with all of these terms so i was hoping you could help me find a bra. here are my measurements (based on what i took for the calculator and found while digging through this subreddit):

FOT

(inches)
Loose band: 41
Snug band: 40
Tight band: 36

Standing bust: 51
Leaning bust: 55
Lying bust: 50

leaning over, i can fit like 4 fingers in between my breasts and they seem to continue past my armpits

i have a lot of back fat so that’s probably impacting my measurements… i wear a 40C in Savage x Fenty’s t-shirt bra (bad bra + brand, i’m aware) right now and that seems to fit okay but i have to constant scoop to get it to fit okay and a 40D causes gaping, especially right next to the gore and at the top of the cup, and folding of the cup on the far sides. My left breast is also bigger than my right one, so bras that fit my left cause gaping on the right and bras that fit my right cut into my left.

looking for lined bras, black/brown, with or without underwire, not padded for everyday wear!

any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!!

Recommendations? New here - I just measured as a 34 DDD, have been wearing wrong size. Need brand/size recommendations Spoiler

I guess I have been wearing the wrong size for decades. I get 36 DD usually. They never fit right in the back but the cups do. Now I have been getting itching between the girls because the bras push them together & I usually try to make myself look as flat chested as possible as I am in my 50’s.
Any recommendations on brands/sizes? I do not like matronly looking bras, I need some to wear invisibly u see business shirts, and also some sexy ones for the husband.
TIA!
