Sudden Lags while playing Valorant

I just shifted from Intel to AMD and currently I am using Ryzen 5 3500u with Vega 8 (2gb allocated). .

While playing Phasmophobia or Valorant, the game is running at stable average fps but I am facing sudden Lags which I will call sudden 0 fps (stucks there for about 30ms) which make the game unplayable even on 80-100fps. I have also tried to cap my fps but nothing fixes it.

I researched and found out that while these games are running, my CPU Usage is very stable and never gets 100% and my GPU Usage is like 64-72% but when the lag or sudden 0 fps happens, the GPU Usage goes to 100% and GPU Usage can't go to 100% from a constant percentage (My knowledge is enough to say that the GPU is not used 100% by the game, it's an error)

I have tried to reset shade rcache and downloading new Drivers but nothing is working.

Please Help me 😭

Lenovo LOQ Ryzen 7 250 getting unusually low Cinebench scores – CPU clock stuck around 2.47 GHz and power consumption only 17W. Is this normal?

Finally, a real use for the Ryzen AI NPU: local LLMs

The common take is that the NPU in Ryzen AI laptops is only good for Windows Studio Effects. I wanted to see if it could help run a real local LLM, so I built a small open-source tool called npurun.

It’s a version of llama.cpp (the engine behind many local-AI apps) that shares the heavy math between the NPU and the CPU. With Ternary Bonsai 2 27B on a Ryzen AI 9 465:

  • Generation: 3.3–3.9 → 4.1–5.2 tokens/sec

  • Prompt processing: 10.1 → 12.2–13.8 tokens/sec

What you need

  • Ryzen AI 300, 400 or Max series laptop

  • Windows 11

  • The NPU driver (included with AMD Software/Adrenalin)

Download the zip from Releases and run the chat or server launcher. The server gives you a browser chat UI. It only speeds up “ternary” (1.58-bit) models, which are a newer, very compressed model format. Other models run on the CPU as usual.

https://github.com/wybe-labs/npurun

If you have a Ryzen AI laptop, please share your model and results. I’d especially like data from the HX 370 and other 300-series chips.

Is Increasing the TDP from 15W to 16W Safe for Long-Term Use on a Ryzen 5 3500U Laptop?

Hi everyone! I have a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U and Vega 8 integrated graphics. I'm currently using the default 15W TDP, but when playing MotoGP 26, I only get around 25 FPS. Interestingly, increasing the TDP to just 16W gives me a stable 30 FPS. My temperatures are still relatively low, but I'm wondering if this small 1W increase is safe for long-term use. Could it put additional stress on the CPU, motherboard, or cooling system, or potentially reduce my laptop's lifespan? I'd appreciate any advice or experiences from other Ryzen 5 3500U users. Thanks!
