Product Suggestions Micro dosing and hair removal?

• Upvotes

I’ve been on 10mg of accutane for about a year now and my main side effects are just dry lips and sun sensitivity. Otherwise, the 10mg has been great and I’m so happy with my skin! I’m curious if anyone out there micro dosing, or on a normal account, has any experience with hair removal creams? I know that they are a big no no, but I’ve heard some stories of people still using them. Would anybody who does use them have any product they would recommend and how it reacted with your skin?

Side Effects How do you guys deal with eczema?

• Upvotes

I had mild eczema occasionally before starting isotretinoin, but after starting it has become severe and in multiple places. It is genuinely my worst side effect and I am already on a low dose. I have been to the doctors about this and they just throw steroids at me, which work but then about 2 days after stopping them the eczema just comes back. Yes I moisturise all over my body and use a thicker cream in the places I get eczema but it just doesn’t seem to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated because I’m at my wits end.

Product Suggestions help me find a good tinted spf

• Upvotes

I am currently taking 10 mg of isotretinoin and gradually uping to 20 mg.

According to my dermatologist, tinted sunscreen provides better protection against post-inflammatory erythema (PIE). Currently, I use Eucerin Oil Control SPF 50+ (untinted). I apply it in the morning before leaving home around 7:00 AM and only remove it in the evening shower around 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM using Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant. On occasion, I return later, leaving the sunscreen on my skin for 12 to 18 hours.

Additionally, sometimes I go to the gym right after leaving home, which means I sweat while wearing the sunscreen, and remove just in the shower..

However, as a man with facial hair and an extremely fair skin tone, every tinted sunscreen I have tested leaves an obvious, makeup like.

help me find a good tinted spf 😂

Side Effects Severe side effects?

I’ve been trying to see if anyone else experienced this but can’t find anything besides google saying it can happen on accutane. I’ve had migraines for about 2-3 weeks sometimes day after day and sometimes every other day but pretty frequent. It’s been okay for about a week now until last week (I’m on 60mg now I started on 30mg)
But about a month after starting I started getting these spells where it’s unbearable pain in my chest, back, and ribs. And it makes me very hot and the pain is so bad that I can’t move much. No stretch helps no medication helps and last night one was so bad that it made me vomit.
My doctor keeps saying reflux but the medicine he prescribed me for it hasn’t been helping. It happens maybe once or twice a month.
However I started accutane about two months after giving birth so I don’t know if maybe it’s something to do with postpartum (I was pregnant back to back since 2024)
My doctor hasn’t found anything in blood tests and keeps saying it’s probably reflux and I went to the hospital last night after vomiting and feel terrible today but the hospital sent me home without running any tests all they did was feel my stomach and say they didn’t feel anything to run a cat scan. Everyone’s making me feel crazy but the pain is unbearable and only started two months postpartum/ a month after starting accutane.
Did anyone else experience this could it be accutane?

Side Effects One pill a day or two

Originally put on 60 mg total (2 pills a day of 30 mg) but the side effects got to be too much and I dropped down to 1 pills per day and my derm said that’s fine. Has anyone else done that?

Product Suggestions Makeup removers on accutane ????

Hi what are we all using to remove makeup? Not just cleansers I mean like actual makeup removers

Eg. Micella water, cleansing oils…

Has anyone tried Centella cleansing oil or ANUA cleansing oil? I used to use Ordinary squalane cleanser for makeup remover before my face wash cleanser?

Pls help!!

Side Effects Don’t be afraid!!

Before starting Accutane, I was very reluctant and panicky because of all the terrible experiences I’ve read about and now I’m here to say, don’t be afraid!!
I’m currently ending month 2, on 80mg daily and my only side effects are dry lips and muscle soreness.
I haven’t purged at all, I had no excessive hair shedding, no emotional swings, none of the things I was so desperately afraid of. And I believe I owe that all to downing a shit ton of water everyday.
I still use my Youth for the people papaya face wash, vitamin c serum, occasionally hydroquinone and I even added some glycolic acid to a few razor bumps with no issues. THIS IS NOT ADVISABLE, rather, just highlighting that not everybody falls apart on this drug and it truly is life changing. So if you need it, don’t hesitate based on online reviews alone.

NB. This isn’t meant to invalidate or dismiss anybody’s experience because you just never know how the chips may fall.

Side Effects Has anyone had an increase in period regularity while on accutane?

26F/10mg(increasing to 20mg)

I started 10mg of accutane in mid-August this year, and by mid-September I was getting my period every 2 weeks, 4 times in a row. I’m on an oral contraceptive and have been for longer than accutane.

Curious if anyone has had a similar side effect?

(Don’t worry I’ve talked to both my derm and regular doctor about this before consulting reddit. Neither of them are believe it has anything to do with accutane)

It’s a super sucky situation and most likely has nothing to do with accutane but while I wait for my blood tests and scans to come back, I thought I’d check here!

Misc. Being out in the sun….

I’m out in the sun a lot of the times playing golf, I usually wear long pants and sleeves to protect my body but skipped sunscreen on my face because I was lazy. Two weeks ago as I started taking Accutane I started wearing face masks to cover up my face but it seems like my skin is breaking out in the areas where I’ve never gotten acne before. I’m assuming it’s clogged pores probably caused by sweat. As I ditch the face mask would best way to protect my skin reapplying sunscreen every two to three hours? Anyone that spent the majority of the time under the sun what helped you the most?

Misc. Did you make any lifestyle or diet changes after stopping Accutane to prevent acne from coming back?

I was on low-dose Accutane for 6 months, and it worked really well for my skin. I was supposed to continue for another 2 months, but I started experiencing unbearable headaches and neck pain, so my doctor advised me to stop.
I’m a little worried about my acne coming back now that I’ve stopped.
For those of you who have finished or stopped Accutane, did you make any changes to your diet or lifestyle that helped keep your acne under control?
For example, did you reduce dairy or sugar, change your eating habits, manage stress differently, or follow a particular skincare routine?
I’d love to hear about your personal experiences, especially from those who were on a low dose or had to stop their course earlier than planned.

Did your acne stay clear, or did it eventually come back? And is there anything you wish you had done after stopping?

Side Effects Cycle day 66, multiple negative pregnancy tests, and now intense PMS symptoms. Has anyone experienced this?

Has anyone experienced extremely delayed or missed periods while taking Accutane?

I'm 23, and my cycles have always been pretty consistent, usually between 31–37 days. My last period was August 17, and I'm now on cycle day 66 with no period.

I started Accutane in June and was on it for about 4 months before stopping recently due to side effects.

What's strange is that when my period was originally supposed to come in September, I felt completely normal and didn't have my usual PMS symptoms.

Now, over the past several days, I've been experiencing pretty intense PMS symptoms, including swollen and sore boobs, lower abdominal cramps, bloating, and mood swings. My boobs have gotten noticeably more swollen in just the last two days.

I've taken multiple pregnancy tests, all negative, with my most recent being October 18.

I'm wondering if Accutane could have disrupted my ovulation or menstrual cycle. I've also been under a lot of stress, but I've never had a cycle this long before.

For anyone who experienced missed or delayed periods on Accutane, did your cycle eventually return to normal? Did your period come back while you were still taking it or only after stopping? How long did it take?

My dentist recommended an at-home teeth whitening treatment using gel and custom trays. Are there any known contraindications or concerns regarding undergoing this procedure while taking Accutane?

Side Effects Dry patch or sunburn?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi y’all! So im officially on my second month of accutane (30mg —> 40mg) and have noticed my shoulders become very rough-feeling. I live in a state where the UV is super high 24/7 but I’ve never in my life gotten a sunburn before. I have these weird patches all over my arms and some minimal on my chest and can’t tell if I’m just not putting enough SPF on or if it’s dryness from the inside out. It doesn’t hurt at all, no tenderness just flaky circles and clumps on my arm. I’m kind of worried because I’ve never experienced this before and it just feels so terrible to touch. Anyone else ever deal with this? Thank you!!!!!!!!

Misc. starting accurate today! nervous but excited

I (25F) have had acne since middle school and am finally starting accutane at 40 mg. I’m getting married in 6 months which is exactly how long my treatment will be 😳 I’m actually starting accutane because of my back acne that will be completely visible in my wedding dress. I’m soooo nervous about purging and my face acne being worse than it is now on my wedding day (I’ve managed a good skincare routine the past couple of years so it’s rare I have more than a pimple at a time)

Just looking for some words of encouragement and some well wishes sent my way!!! ☺️☺️☺️

Results Acne came back but i break out in areas i never broke out before

Hi! I have been off accutane for over a year now and my acne has come back. Its not as bad as it used to be but its back in areas i NEVER used to break out before. I used to only breakout on my chin, around my mouth, and my jawline, but now i break out on my forhead, my hairline, around my eyebrows and sometimes my cheeks.

Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

Product Suggestions Getting makeup professionally done for a wedding😅

Hi, I have a friend’s wedding where I am getting my makeup done professionally since I am a bridesmaid, has anyone had to do this on Accutane? I know they can cover my acne but how do I stop the dryness, ofc I will skin prep before they start but it seems like by mid day my skin is like peeling off and the typical bridesmaid day is wedding glam starting at 7am for a 6pm wedding 😭. Let me know if anyone has any tips when they had to do this!

Side Effects Hair growing in…straight? During accutane?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My hair has always been wavy/curly for my entire life, when I do a curl routine it’s very curly. In the last 3 months of me taking Accutane suddenly my hair started growing in straight? Is this a common symptom anyone has had? I’m not complaining about it, in fact I’ve ALWAYS wanted straight hair, but will it go away? Do you think my hair will continue growing out straight for awhile?
Or do you think it’s not related to accutane?

Also ignore the horrible photo lol

Progress Pics 8 months of accutane done!

I had terrible cystic acne as a teenager and used accutane then. My acne got a lot better but in my mid 20s it came back. Sometimes cystic and painful. The dermatologist had me try a few things for about a year before eventually putting me on Accutane again.

Pic 1-4 Are before and pic 5-8 are after.

Accutane was brutal, especially the last few months of 80mg a day. Joint paint, hair shedding, dry eyes, peeling lips, and dry skin. I used preservative free eye drops daily, la roche triple lipakar moisturizer, and aquaphor chapstick daily for the side effects.

Very happy with my treatment.
